Answer:	Hi, my stove is electric and i do just fine. I use the largest burner. I've heard from others that sometimes the heat temp is hard to maintain, but i dont have that problem. Here's what I do: I turn my electric burner on HIGH (like #9) to get it going. After i vent the valve for 10 minutes and put the weighted gauge on I wait for it to come to 10lbs pressure (10lbs is for my altitude below 1000'). AFTER the gauge reads 10lbs of pressure I turn my burner down to #5 (which is like MEDIUM). Each and every time I've done it this way the pressure remained the same. Sometimes I would have to turn it up to 5 1/2, as 6 was too much heat. You must stay wit h the canner for the whole time you are using it to make sure it maintains the right pressure for whatever you are canning. I did have a glass top stove but i never canned on it. It cracked one day while i was boiling water. For me, I would not can on an electric glass stove. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I've got the 915 and the 930 and have been using them on a Maytag glass top at the same time. I've used them for several years now with no problems at all. I am careful not to drag them around over the glass surface. They are also very close to the same size as the two large burners so I have not experienced any heat issues. Had a lot of nay-sayers out there saying that it couldn't be done, especially with the 930, but I am very happy with the results.

SAMPLE RECIPE: Pineapple-Grapefruit Marmalade

1. In a large pot, cover the jars with hot water, add 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar, and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes, then turn off the heat. In a smaller pot, add lids and rings, 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar, and water to cover. Boil for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.

2. In a food processor, working in batches, pulse the grapefruit and lemon until chopped fine, but do not purée.

3. In a large heavy-bottomed pot, combine the grapefruit/lemon mixture, pineapple, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring. Boil hard, stirring constantly for 10 minutes, or until the mixture begins to thicken and stick to the spoon. Remove from heat. Skim off any foam and discard.

4. Place the hot jars on a cutting board. If using, place 1 teaspoon rum in each jar. Using a funnel, ladle the hot marmalade into the jars, leaving a 1/4-inch headspace. Remove any air bubbles and add additional marmalade if necessary to maintain the 1/4-inch headspace.

5. Wipe the rims of jars with a warm washcloth dipped in distilled white vinegar. Place a lid and ring on each jar and hand-tighten.

6. Place the jars in the water bather, ensuring each jar is covered by at least 1 inch of water. Add 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar to the water and turn to high heat. Bring the canner to a boil and process half-pints for 10 minutes. Be sure not to start your timer until the water is at a full rolling boil. After processing, wait 5 minutes before removing the jars from the canner.

PLUM AND QUINCE MEMBRILLO

1. Prepare a hot water bath (see page 30). Place the jars in it to keep warm. Wash the lids and rings in hot, soapy water, and set aside.

2. In a cheesecloth square, combine the reserved quince peels, cores, and seeds. Tie securely with kitchen twine into a sachet.

3. In a preserving pot or a deep pot set over medium heat, combine the quince, plums, and sachet. Add enough water to cover the fruit and the sachet. Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring frequently and adding water as needed to keep the quince from drying out, until the quince is very tender and red.

4. Remove from the heat. Remove and discard the sachet.

5. Use a potato masher to puree the quince and plums into a smooth paste.

6. Add the sugar, lemon juice, lemon peel, and cinnamon stick. Return to a simmer over low heat. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring frequently, or until the mixture is thick enough to leave a track when a spoon is dragged through it. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.

7. Ladle the membrillo into the prepared jars, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace. Use a nonmetallic utensil to release any air bubbles.

8. Process the jars in a hot water bath (see page 31) for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the jars rest in the water bath for 10 minutes.

9. Carefully remove the jars from the hot water canner. Set aside to cool for 12 hours.

10. Check the lids for proper seals (see page 32). Remove the rings, wipe the jars, label and date them, and transfer to a cupboard or pantry.

11. Refrigerate any jars that don’t seal properly, and use within 2 months. Properly sealed jars will last in the cupboard for 12 months.

Answer:	Not until I made the mistake of trying to can tomatoes in a Mirror pressure *cooker* that had been my grandmother's did I realized there is very much a difference between pressure cookers and pressure canners. This product is specifically for canning. While it would not necessarily be dangerous to cook meats in this 22 quart pressure canner, it is too big to be practical for that purpose. Seriously, this thing is huge. Nearly 1.5 feet deep.The one that had been my grandmother's (believe it was 12 or 16 quart) was suitable for the type of cooking you describe. Looking at the price differences, I understand your interest in this one as it is significantly cheaper. If you are going to make the investment for you stated purpose, however, I would stick with either the 8qt or 16qt. These are the sizes suitable for your cooking needs.It is worth noting: When I attempted to can tomatoes in a pressure cooker, several of the jars exploded and warped the pan, ruining it. The fact that every single safety feature worked and kept this from hurting anyone or damaging my kitchen is why I didn't hesitate to purchase a Mirro product again. Answer:	I wouldn't. All of the USDA canning bulletins and the authors of "Putting Food By" say not to use anything larger than a quart jar. From what I understand, the temperature inside the food wouldn't be able to reach 240 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature required to kill the various spoilage organisms. I don't think there's quite enough room at the top of the canner to let the pressurized steam circulate properly. On the other hand, those half-gallon jars are great for storing pantry items, such as flour and pasta. Place the dry goods in your freezer for a couple of days, pour them into the jars and put a bay leaf inside before you close the lid. This keeps grain moths away from your pantry items. Hehe. I'm planning on doing a batch of beets tomorrow morning. This is a good unit that I couldn't find in any of the hardware stores here for less than $131. I hope you buy one!

Answer:	I have used this canner for water bath jam and it works great. Though it would be nice if it came with a separate lid for that- I was able to find a separate glass lid that did the trick. You could use the lid it comes with without latching (as a cover only), however I used to own one with a glass lid and I liked that feature. It’s just a personal preference though and won’t effect the end result.

Answer:	There are 2 front load trays (no back feed). The large tray is on the bottom (for 8-1/2 x 11"); small tray is in the middle (for 5x7 and smaller). Question:	Does it print both sides of paper
Answer:	No it doesn't. You can manually make it by flipping the page, and replacing it in the feeder tray.
Question:	Can you print on card stock with this printer
Answer:	I was printing on 65 pound card-stock and my printer accidentally sucked two pieces through the printer and printed just fine. So I imagine it would handle 110 pound card stock just fine.
Question:	Does this come with ink
Answer:	The cartridges that come with the printer are standard, full size, cartridges. You can purchase XL cartridges as replacements which will save you about 20 percent per page. There is also the option to subscribe to an Automatic Ink program called instant ink. You pay $3.00 a month and print up to 50 pages. If you print more, HP will charge you an additional $1 for each eset of 15 pages or more that you print. Most importantly, when you run low on ink, HP sends you more ink long before you run out. Best of all, you get fresh ink while only paying your $3 a month. At ~$0.06 a page, it's the lowest cost way to print, as long as you print every month. And, if you print photos, Instant Ink subscription is an absolute bargain saving you 85% on ink.
Question:	Does this come with a wire if you don't want to use wireless
Answer:	Cellular costs, WIFI should be free. You're being ripped off. WIFI is the same as a wireless home phone. You don't pay the phone company for a wireless home phone, you pay for the phone service. WIFI is the same, if you have a WIFI router, you have WIFI, if not, you're wired. The internet service is the same. Cellular internet service on the other hand, costs.

Question:	is the ink compatible with the MG
Answer:	I don't know why another person said that it would not accept XL ink cartridges. It most certainly does accept XL (and regular) Cartridge #245 & 246

Answer:	My Pixma MG2522 came with an installation disk, but we ended up downloading the software online anyway.
Question:	Does it print in only black if the color cartridges run out
Answer:	The previous answer is incorrect. The MG2522 series printers will not print unless the color cartridge is present and has ink. 170701

Answer:	There are two purchase options. The low price clearly states "no ink" when you move our cursor over the price. The higher price comes with cartridges. For about $30 more you get $59 worth of cartridges.
