Answer:	What paper settings are you using to print cardstock? I either get error 2114 or that the print settings don't match. Using Mac/OS Big Sur but the only screen settings (even with prior OS) were limited. So I changed on the printer itself and to glossy, A4, etc and continue to get that error or that the settings don't match the paper in the rear tray. TIA.

Answer:	Buy it on Amazon and get the extended warranty, if something goes wrong, you are dealing with the warranty company not Canon. I got my printer a year ago and have absolutely loved it. Whole family uses it, and we are runing a mix of Window PC's, an Apple laptop, and some Amazon fire HD tablets, and it worked wonderfully with all of those items. We even used prints from our Pixima MX922 as the actual entries my son used in his 4H project for the fair and he got a few blue ribbons on his photos. We were upset when the printhead broke. Money is tight and we really loved that printer. Thankfully, i got the warranty (at the time only $7) and they said as soon as I drop off the printer at the ups store they will issue a full refund for the printer as an Amazon gift card, so i can buy another one. They are even paying the shipping to send the item to them. I will be probably be buying this printer as it is sounds like this it the one that replaces the Pixima MX922. Will check to be sure. But quality of prints and ease of use were wonderful.

Answer:	You can do this, but it is unusual because the black runs out very quickly. There are two blacks, and it seems to use the xl sized one more, and once that is low no matter what you get spotty printing. I think the other black is only mixed in with the color printing.

Answer:	There is a USB port for the purpose of connecting the printer to a computer, but there is not an external USB port for something like a flash drive.

Answer:	It does up to 13x19 but I'm unsure if it prints borderless at that size. I know it is borderless for 11x17s and lower. It does not scan OR copy. It ONLY prints.

Answer:	Yes, the printer comes with a usb to usb-c cord. If your phone/tablet doesn't take usb-c you would have to get a different cord to do so. You can also set the printer up with a direct connection instead of over wi-fi.

Answer:	Yes. It comes with the printer, both ink cartridges, and all instructions including CD for windows installation. for phone/iPhone/mac the instructions have a qr code to scan to set up, Also has an added bonus of a USB to USB-c cord.
Question:	can i use only black cartridge only? i don't print in color
Answer:	the printer wont work if you don't have both cartridges properly installed. That being said, just because it has to have a color cartridge doesn't mean you have to print in color. It comes with both cartridges. Just install the ones that come with the printer. If you never print in color, then you will only have to replace the black ink cartridge. Also, you can get ink for this printer for way less than the cost of other printers cartridges. That sold it for me. The printer has worked great, and the compact design is perfect for a small space. It fits on my small utility cart with room to spare!

Answer:	You need to use the metal shields that came with the preamp. Run a simple wire from the base of the leftmost shield to the ground plug on the front of the preamp. This should get rid of the noise.
Question:	Will this printer work on Heavyweight paper 110lb/300gsm cardstock
Answer:	The U ground connector can not be used from the turntable. You have to cut it off, solder the end of the ground wire from the turntable and put it in the push connector. You can rig up something to keep the original ground connector. I soldered a wire to the U connector and put the other end in the push connector on the preamp. No idea why they designed it that way.

Question:	My last mx922 printer was purchased last february making it only 8 months old. i already need a new one. is this the life of these
Answer:	What is causing your problem since it is only 8 months old. If you are getting a B200 error that means your print head is going out on you. If you do not want to spend a lot of money and can fix it yourself,do this. Go to ebay,Amazon,Canon,or just simply enter B200 in the URL box. Then you can find a new print head for around $50-$60. Then replace it yourself and the printer will continue working with no problems.
Question:	Can it easily print from an ipad
Answer:	NO! You cannot print from your photostream or camera roll. You get Error code 1007. It thinks you are printing photo-sized images so it looks only in the upper tray for paper. I guess if you want 5x8 photos that's okay, but I wanted to print out an image on 8.5x11 and was unable to do so. Very frustrating. It seems to be okay printing emails and browser content so if you dont plan on printing images you saved for other reasons you should be okay. Stiil, I would pass on this model...it has some other annoying issues others have mentioned in the reviews here (very slow to print when you havent printed something in awhile). All true!
Question:	Will the scanner still work if an ink cartridge is empty? Got burned by Canon on this one before, leery of giving them more money
Answer:	I refill my print cartridges multiple times for very little money. Anyone, even fix-it challenged people can easily refill their own. I buy bulk ink from 123injets.com & re-fill them myself in just a couple of minutes. I've re-used cartridges for at least 8 yrs & never had a problem. The only printers you can't refill are Epson, which, like Keurig coffeemakers rig their cartridges for 1-time use & their name brand only, which is my #1 reason to avoid them. Canon doesn't, so all I have to do is put the low cartridge in the holder, drill a tiny hole (both provided in the kit) & fill it from the pre-loaded syringe. I buy black in bulk, so I fill my own syringe. An XL tank takes about 8ml to fill & the color takes about 3-5ml each cartridge, depending on the size. After I'm done I stick on the new tag (also provided) & put it back in. They also provide DVD instructions for your specific model, so there's no guesswork. I figure it cost me less than USD3.00 to refill the color & USD4.00 for the XL black, which I can refill at least 8 times before I find I need to get a new one. I keep one on hand at all times, just in case. Considering I've refilled black ink over 20x & the colors at least a dozen, i figure I've saved over USD550 in black cartridges alone (adjusted for the cost of the bulk ink) & USD300 in colored ink over the years. Plus I don't pay tax on the ink, which is a big plus: where I live online cost me USD8.25% of the total purchase if i get it via Amazon or any company doing business in OH, thanks to Gov. Kasich who only lowers taxes on businesses, not us. (Can't believe he wasted money running for Pres. after raiding OH.schools & cities' monies to 'balance the state budget'.)The only downside to refilling it yourself is that the printer will say 'ink level unknown' from the first refill on because it can't tell the level. The alarm light will go off also when you do your first refill (as an incentive to go buy a cartridge) but that's easy to fix: just hold the 'cancel' button down for about 20 sec. & it goes away, but just for ink levels. The rest of the alarms i.e. paper jams, out of paper, etc. still work fine. I wear disposable plastic gloves because it takes at least a day to get any ink off your hands if you accidently touch any ink, which can happen when switching cartridges or cleaning the rollers (which I do about every 300 pages using the 'clean rollers' found in 'Troubleshooting' only to avoid problems before they start.) etc.The whole point is that I've saved huge amts. on ink & never have to run out to buy it at the last minute because the tank's low.

Answer:	Load paper.(1) Open the paper support, and pull it out.(2) Open the front cover gently. Important If the disc tray guide (A) is open, close it. (3) Pull out the paper output tray. (4) Slide the paper guides (B) to open them, and load the paper in the center of the rear tray WITH THE PRINT SIDE FACING YOU.(5) Slide the paper guides (B) to align them with both sides of the paper stack.Do not slide the paper guides too hard. The paper may not be fed properly. Important Always load paper in the portrait orientation (C). Loading paper in the landscape orientation (D) can cause paper jams.NOTE: This printer is a quality printer for excellent copies. If you are looking for a production type printer where you can do many copies, it would be best that you go to a copy store and have them do it. If you are seeking a few select prints then this would be for you. I believe that about 25 copies is all that can be loaded at a time.

Question:	Does the PIXMA i8720 handle card stock well? I run a very small greetings card business, and my current printer murders card stock
Answer:	The heaviest we've printed is 140 lb paper by Strathmore. We also print greeting and post cards; aside of drymounting photo paper to card stock (whose photo quality absolutely can't be beat), the best paper we've found for iP8720 direct printing is Canson Stamping Cards (beats Strathmore's inket offerings hands-down; we found it on Dick Blick's site). I don't know if Canson publishes this specific product's weight, but it's probably around ~110 lbs.
Question:	does it scan and copy
Answer:	The previous answer ("Copies, but doesn't scan") is WRONG. I've checked the printer and the users manual, and the iP8720 does NOT have scan capability. It is a printer only--not a fax, not a scanner, not a copier. If you need to scan and copy, then you need a different machine. The main value of the iP8720 is for large-format (up to about 13" by 19") printing. If you don't need that capability, then you'd be much better off with a standard-format all-in-one.
