User questions & answers
Question: | Are the mouthpiece silver-plated |
Answer: | I think it is chrome (alloy) plated because it is shiny and resist tarnishing. I have several Hohner harmonicas that have tarnished, thus I tried Suzuki and have been very satisfied. I find the Hohners clog more often too. |
Question: | Does it come with a case |
Answer: | Mine came with a case. |
Question: | Does susuki has any cheaper altelnatives for chromatic harps? I have a susuki manji its good so im coming for a new harp |
Answer: | Sorry, this is Suzuki's cheapest chromatic. However, the Swan 1040 is only $30 and it is a decent beginner's chromatic. |
Question: | Does the last 2 holes (high note) hard to play? I mean you have to blow harder to produce a note |
Answer: | By nature, harmonicas require a bit more effort as the notes get higher. It's because each reed gets shorter as the pitch goes up. I think my Suzuki SCX-48 is fine on the top 2 notes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many octaves does it have? When you push the slider does it change the note? How do you go for major to a sharp or flat? Is this a large instru |
Answer: | It has 4 octaves . When you push the slider , it blocks all notes ( C-scale ) on the upper row and exposes all notes ( C#-scale ) on the lower row (so every corresponding note is raised a half-step) . When playing songs in major key , you don't need to push the slider . When playing songs in minor key , you'll have to push the slider now and then to catch a "minor" note on the lower row . The size is 7.5" long , 1.75" high and 1.25" thick . |
Question: | if there are few missed tuned keys, what should one do? Return for full refund w/o shipping charge |
Answer: | Yes , return it ! |
Question: | from c3... to c6d6e6f6g6a6b6c7? highest c7# or D |
Answer: | I am interpreting this question to be asking whether the highest note on the instrument is a C-sharp or a D-natural. Well, it's a C-sharp. That is to say, if you are blowing on the very last hole to the right and you have the slide pushed in, it produces a C-sharp (enharmonic to D-flat). Excuse me for not getting excited about fastidious octave designations. Just hold the instrument with low notes to the left and high notes to the right. The farthest right hole is the topic of interest. With reference to piano octaves, for anyone who cares, it is c7 without the slide and c#7 with it (blowing). |
Question: | cross tuned or straight tuned |
Answer: | This Swan chromatic has a straight-tuned slide . |

Question: | I've noticed that the price of Suzuki harmonicas on Amazon seems too good to be true. Suzuki has warned of Counterfeits. Thoughts |
Answer: | The much cheaper price you saw is the price in Japan. Search amazon.co.jp , you will see the price in Japan is around $300. I found it is very hard for me to believe what amazon Japan has are counterfeits. On Suzuki's official website https://www.suzuki-music.co.jp/products/13215/ , the list price is ¥42,000 (around $370). |

Answer: | http://mastersofharmonica.com/suzuki-s-64c-sirius-64-hole-chromatic-cross-harmonica/This guy seems to know harmonicas |
Question: | Has anyone had a problem with Key #2, sixth hole from the left? I'm new to harmonicas, but feel I can play all of the notes with the exception of |
Answer: | I have played harmonicas, including Hohners, on and off for many years. I only own the sirius s64c as new only for several weeks, playing on it gently at first to run it in. The sound and articulation were not fully regular at first, especially on the low and very high notes. But it is much smoother and consistent in articulation now after several weeks of use, and it is still improving. I have not had a specific issue with key no. 2. I also had a new Seydel Saxony Orchestra recently. It was lighter on the breadth than s64c, but the sound also becomes better after a period of use. Try blowing and drawing long extended notes on the key gently and see if it improves after several days. You can blow and draw more strongly as it improves. If not, l suppose you may have gotten a faulty instrument, and may request for a replacement. |
Question: | Why is this offered at $430 usd, when suzuki's own site lists it for $1100 usd? is this a counterfeit |
Answer: | In Japan this harmonica sells for $389. Here in the USA it retails for right around $800. I ordered this harmonica from this seller and it came last week. This harp checks all the boxes for genuineness and plays like a dream. First rate, brand new in the box, sealed retail. Buy with confidence. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I rinse the harmonica for cleaning purposes |
Answer: | The short answer is No. This is not a chromatic harmonica with a lever on th side to play sharps/flats. this is why it is described as "C Key". An advanced technique called "bending" will let you change the note by how you breathe and you can do sharps/flats that way |
Question: | Have key A |
Answer: | For modern country music, you're probably going to want a Blues Harmonica; or even a set of them in different Keys. While it is possible to play just about any music style on this Tremolo Harmonica because of the 24 note range - it will not carry the same tone as a Blues Harmonica. The Tremolo sound is more akin to an Accordion in tune, better suited for song styles such as Sea Shanties and Irish Folk Music. I suggest that you take a look on YouTube for demonstrations and songs with separate Tremolo and Blues style Harmonicas to hear the difference. That said... this Eastar "Admiral" Tremolo 24 Hole Harmonica is an absolute breeze to blow and breathe through. Starting with no experience at all - I bought it on a whim and I was smoothly playing songs within a week. I also bought one Eastar "Captain" 10 Hole Blues Harmonica at the same time to learn on. They are both fun, sound great, are durable, fit my fingers and palms right, and have been no challenge; not at all disappointing. I became a fan of the Eastar brand quick on account of the quality of these two Harmonica. |
Question: | can we play sharps and flat notes with this harmonica |
Question: | can i play new country music on this harmonica |
Answer: | Yes and a very good quality harp. I have several Hummings |

Question: | I'm looking for the key of A, E, chromatic |
Answer: | eBay: Suzuki SCX48 Chromatix SCX-48 12 Hole Chromatic Harmonica, Key of A eBay: Hering 5148 Chromatic Harmonica in Key of E |
Question: | Does this harmonica have windsavers |
Answer: | yes, it does, as the most of chromatic harmonicas |
Question: | is this harmonica cross tuned |
Answer: | Its chromatic so yes, you press the side button and it makes a completely new sound |
Question: | Is this one like Stevie wonders? This one is a 64 but on his it says 280/60 what does that mean? And does this one have it |
Answer: | I don't know what 280/60 means, but my Swan doesn't have it. I doubt very much if Stevie Wonder plays one like this. His is probably a Honer or a Suziki ? |
Question: | Is this made in Germany |
Answer: | I have several and all of them were made in Germany. |
Question: | Is the G Flat harmonica lower than the G harmonica |
Answer: | Yes it is. Sometimes, I tune my guitar down 1/2 step, and with the F#, you can still play in G. The harmonica is not a Low F# if that is what you meant, but standard, 1/2 step lower than G. |
Question: | What would the best key be a, g, or c ? i have golden melody key c & g hohner website shows using key A doesn't sound too bad |
Answer: | The key of A is the most common key for blues harmonica if that's what you are most interested in it sounds great the music you play on a C you can play on an A |
Question: | Should I get this harmonica, the marine band harmonica, or the special 20? Which one is better |
Answer: | There is no easy answer to that question. The Marine Band is the classic blues harmonica. The Crossover is a wonderful harmonica with a great sound. Personally, I think that it is a better built harmonica. However, it is a tad small in size for my taste. It isn't as comfortable as other harmonicas, at least until you get used to it. The Special 20 is also a very nice harmonica - a lot more comfortable on the lips than the Marine Band. It also sounds great. So, it is a matter of personal taste. These are all great harps. That said, my favorite C harmonica is a Seidel 1847 Noble. Unfortunately, those are kind of pricey. The best C harp in the bang for the buck category is, in my humble opinion, a Seidel Blues Session - great sound, perfect feel in the hand, well made. As I said, it is strictly a matter of personal preference. The 3 Hohners you mentioned are all great. |

Sometimes you just need a little bit more to fully express how you feel. When Sonny Boy Williamson II discovered the rich, deep toned sound of the 12 hole Echo Vamper harmonica, it inspired him to record one of his best known pieces, Bye Bye Bird, dedicated to the great Charlie Parker. Now known as the Marine Band 364/24, very little has changed since Sonny Boy first played this classic harp except the engraving on the top cover and the color of the comb. You always felt there was something missing from your perfect blues tune? The 364/24 just might be it!
