Answer:	We were prepared to tune this new ukulele for at least a week or so until the strings settled. Most of strings stayed in tune almost perfectly after a few tunings. The E string is the only one that resisted for several days, and now the strings only need slight fine tuning!

Now that you have acquainted yourself with the instrument, the first thing we want to do is tune it up!

Step 1: Tune your ukulele

To aid in the tuning process, we recommend using a Golden Gate PT-1 Posi-Tune Compact Tuner or similar.

Begin by bringing each string as close to pitch as possible. The notes we will be tuning each string to, starting from Top to Bottom are:

G – C – E – A

Step 2: Stretch each string

In order to your new ukulele in tune, it will be necessary to stretch each string until it stabilizes. This is due to the material that typical ukulele strings are manufactured from and is perfectly normal.

Once each string is tuned up close to pitch – firmly, but gently – pull along the entire length on each string (while carefully supporting the instrument.) Pay particular attention to where each string wraps around the tuning peg posts, as well as where they are knotted at the bridge. It is normal for new ukulele strings to stretch considerably, so be patient. Also, be careful not to pull too hard on each string while stretching to avoid damaging the strings or your instrument.

Step 3: Repeat previous steps and tune it again

You’re almost there. Just repeat the process of tuning and stretching until each string stabilizes to the correct note. You’ve probably noticed that after having repeated the process several times, your ukulele will hold its tune better and better.

Depending on how often you play your ukulele, it could take a few days – even up to a few weeks for your strings to settle in – but once that happens you will be ready to play anytime.

Answer:	Different have different habits. Usually, we use our right hand to pluck the strings, and left hand to hold the frets.
Question:	Is 23 inch a 1/2 or 3/4? For what age group
Answer:	Hi! Any age group can learn and enjoy playing the ukulele. The 23” uke is the concert size which is slightly larger than the soprano (21”). I have both of those types but I prefer the concert size. I’m not sure what you are asking regarding a “1/2 or 3/4”. I hope this helps.
Question:	Does the uklele stay in tune
Answer:	My wife is the one that plays this instrument. Typically she tunes it at the beginning of play and it does stay in tune for the rest of the day. Often the re-tuning from one day to the next is minor, if at all. So, I guess that answer is yes, for the most part it does stay in tune.

Answer:	Yes, they are queit the same. As with any string instrument, with our attached Tuner, you'll easily tune the ukulele to the correct pitches: G, C, E, A.

Answer:	Metal strings will likely break the bridge (which is soft and made for nylon knots anyways) and if not, will over time bend the neck. This is also why electric ukes (with electromagnetic pickups) are so rare. You would be much better served by a mini 4-string guitar; tuned GCEA to play ukulele songs.

Answer:	Concert Ukulele The concert ukulele is the very similarly constructed big sister of the soprano ukulele. The concert uke therefore maintains many of the same stylistic features as the soprano ukulele, and sounds much more similar to the soprano than to the tenor ukulele. The concert ukulele is usually around 23 inches long; with a slightly bigger body than the soprano, which produces a somewhat richer, warmer tone. Ranch concert ukele has 18 frets, This gives the concert ukulele an extended playing range over the soprano ukulele, making it a preferable choice for ukulele soloists. The longer body of the concert means that the frets, are spaced further apart - and so the concert ukulele is considered to be easier to navigate for people with slightly larger hands. The extra room on the concert ukulele, along with its extended range, allows players to perform more technical skills on the uke while still maintaining the classic 'soprano-like' sound of the original Hawaiian ukulele. Tenor Ukulele The tenor ukulele is like the big brother of the soprano, being slightly deeper in tone and bigger than both the soprano and the concert ukulele. The tenor ukulele is around 26 inches long, has 18 frets, and has a significantly larger body than the soprano and the concert. While the playing range of the tenor is very similar as that of a concert ukulele, the tone that the larger body of the tenor ukelele makes it very different in sound quality to the concert and the soprano. The tenor is sometimes snubbed for not having the same 'ukuleleish' sound or feel as a soprano; however it has been embraced by many ukulele performers because of its increased projection and warm tone, which make the tenor perfect for solo acoustic performances. The frets on the tenor are spaced further apart than on the soprano and concert, making it slightly harder to play (or easier to play - depending on the size of your hands). If you are a beginner player, you will usually be advised to start on the concert or the soprano ukulele, however the tenor does suit some players much better, so it is best to pick up a tenor ukele and try it yourself before you decide - regardless of the advice of others.
Question:	Is this Uke solid wood or laminate
Answer:	Ukuleles need specially formulated nylon strings. Aquila (brand name) utilizes patented Nyglut nylon strings. Ernie Ball strings are a monofilament nylon string. Nylon guitar strings will not work. In other words, there is no "difference"- Aquila is a brand name. The material is nylon, although uke strings are made from specific types of nylon. Before nylon, people used "catgut strings" that were made from the intestines of animals (usually not cats, though). The name Nylgut is "Nyl" plus "gut".

A tip for tuning your new Ukulele:

Are you finding your new ukulele always needs tuning every time you want to play it?

This is really common, particularly with new strings. Nylon strings take a certain amount of stretching before they settle down and hold their tune.

How to solve:Tune it to the desired note, then pull up on the string over the sound hole to give it a bit of a stretch. That'll take it down about 2 whole notes, tune it back up and repeat until it stays in tune. A lot of folks who maybe aren't used to stringed instruments, especially nylon strings, get frustrated, but don't worry, these are decent strings, they just need a good stretch!
