13 best behringer studio monitors
Behringer is a manufacturer of studio monitors, which are essential components of studio recording equipment used for accurate audio monitoring and playback in professional and home studio environments. Here are some key features and aspects of Behringer studio monitors:
Sound Accuracy: Behringer studio monitors are designed to provide precise and accurate sound reproduction. They aim to reproduce audio with minimal coloration or distortion, making them ideal for critical listening during recording, mixing, and mastering.
Two-Way and Three-Way Models: Behringer offers both two-way and three-way studio monitor models. Two-way monitors typically have a woofer and a tweeter, while three-way monitors include a midrange driver in addition to the woofer and tweeter. Three-way monitors can provide more detailed sound and better frequency separation.
Active and Passive Options: Behringer produces both active (powered) and passive (unpowered) studio monitors. Active monitors have built-in amplifiers, making them easy to set up and suitable for most studio environments. Passive monitors require external amplification.
Driver Size: Behringer studio monitors come in various driver sizes, with common sizes being 5-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, and larger. The choice of driver size depends on the desired frequency response and room size.
Frequency Response: Behringer monitors typically offer a flat frequency response, ensuring that you hear audio content as it truly is without added bass or treble emphasis.
Bi-Amplification: Many Behringer studio monitors feature bi-amplification, where each driver (woofer and tweeter) is powered by a dedicated amplifier. This setup allows for better control of individual frequencies and improved sound quality.
Control Features: Some Behringer studio monitors offer control features such as adjustable EQ settings, volume control, and input sensitivity, allowing you to tailor the sound to your preferences and room acoustics.
Connectivity: These monitors come with various input options, including XLR, 1/4-inch, and RCA inputs, making them compatible with a wide range of audio sources, such as audio interfaces, mixers, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
Ported Design: Many Behringer studio monitors have a ported or bass-reflex design that enhances low-frequency response without distortion.
Affordability: Behringer is known for offering studio monitors at competitive prices, making them accessible to both beginners and experienced audio professionals.
Studio Monitor Series: Behringer offers multiple series of studio monitors, such as the Truth series and the Media series, each catering to different needs and budgets.
Behringer studio monitors are widely used in home studios, project studios, and professional recording facilities due to their combination of quality sound reproduction and affordability. They are suitable for tasks like tracking, mixing, and mastering, helping audio engineers and musicians make informed decisions about their recordings.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know some good stands for these considering how large they are |
Answer: | I use standard speaker stands by attaching readily available stand adapters that can be screwed to a speaker. One example is the On-Stage EB9760B 1-3/8" Speaker Stand Adapter (~$8 USD). However, I prefer not to "damage" the speaker itself, so I use flat-headed screws to secure a piece of quarter-inch plywood that is the same size as the speaker (I mount mine vertically) to the stand adapter. I place four small pieces of adhesive-backed foam tape (used for sealing door and window opening, e.g.) on the plywood top to keep the speakers from sliding. Because these speakers are so heavy, I also use speaker stands that have a lifting mechanism to raise them to the maximum height of the stand (On Stage SS8800B, e.g.). This adapter plate approach means that the stand must be on a level surface. Perhaps you can adapt this idea to your situation. There are simple stands such as the PYLE PSTND35 (~$40 USD for a pair) that may work for you |
Question: | How big a room will a pair of these speakers cover |
Answer: | These speaker are simply incredible in quality. I would say they are great for a large room say about 30 X 30 FT.The speakers are designed for studio monitors and have amazing reproduction qualities. |
Question: | is this a pair |
Answer: | It seems it's a single. Here's a sure pair http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-B2031A-Active-Reference-Monitor/dp/B000MJ7AA2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_1 |
Question: | Is this a pair or single |
Answer: | I ordered 2 speakers thinking they were sold as a single but I received 4 speakers. I checked the item description which said "speaker count: 1" I then checked the shipping wieght which is 71.5 lbs. I weighed one of the speakers and it came out to be 30 lbs. I believe this means they are sold in Paris. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Possible to replace the cable that connects the two speakers? Where can I find one? Thank you |
Answer: | The inputs/outputs are (from left to right): Input 1 - stereo plug, Input 2 - R and L phono plugs, Output - connection plug to left speaker, AC Power. On the front there are inputs for a mic and for headphones, as well as volume and balance controls and on-off power switch. |
Question: | I noticed that there is another place to plug in something next to the rca outputs.how can both play something?whatcablesdoineedtohavethemupandworking |
Answer: | Yes, they each have an 8 watt amplifier and the sound is excellent. They should work out fine for studio work, but wouldn't have enough power for performance situations with a live band. |
Question: | Will these speakers work as amplifier for entry level electronic drum set |
Answer: | They are a powered monitor system with left and right RCA inputs and a single mini stereo input and a 1/4" mic input in the front. Basically a mini PA system. They are fairly loud and have a very good sound quality. There are treble, bass and volume attenuators. I use them for a recording studio and they work great with MP3 players. Hope this helps! My guess is they would be loud enough for a personal monitor. |
Question: | Can I use these with a StagePAS 400i portable sound system from Yamaha . I want to use them as a vocal monitor |
Answer: | not without an amplifier between it and the speakers. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Active or passive speakers |
Answer: | Active |
Question: | are these studio monitors connected to each other? then connected to the computer through 3.5mm jack? or what? would I need an interface that has |
Answer: | They are single monitors. You’re buying one that is amplified. Or two! Sold separately... inputs are XLR, 1/4” balanced TRS, and RCA unbalanced- probably best for direct out from a computer headphone jack. Also IMO a total waste of money, these monitors go so far above and beyond laptop soundcard quality, you’d get better sound out of computer speakers. These are nearfield reference monitors. & Sound via the RCA in is not great relatively. |
Question: | I want a monitor with 3pin connection |
Answer: | XLR - yes these are |
Question: | where is the volume control |
Answer: | The volume control is on the back side with the input jacks. |

The Behringer TRUTH B1030A Reference Monitor speaks nothing but the truth. When it comes to your studio recordings, you want honesty. In fact, considering how important your art is, you should demand it! The TRUTH B1020A monitor also sounds great hooked up to your stereo or to your video surround system even though they were really built with studios in mindAiwhere every note you play or sing is under the microscope.Built on the Behringer Legacy Behringer's TRUTH B2030A and B2031A monitors offer the neutral sound of a true reference monitor. Ask any recording engineer and they will tell you that listening to a recording on just a single set of monitors doesn't always paint an accurate picture of the mix. Since people listen to music at home, in their cars, on MP3 players, etc., it is critical your final mix be heard on as many sizes and types of speakers as possible. That's the reason Behringer created these smaller B1030A monitors, plus they make ideal rear-channel speakers for surround sound applications. Years of Behringer R'n'D For the past 2 years Behringer's research and development team has been on a mission to create the "perfect" studio monitor. They tried a variety of transducers and enclosure designs, along with existing and emerging technologies. When all the dust settled, they chose to deploy an ultrahigh resolution 1" dome tweeter and a long-throw 5.25" Kevlar-coned woofer in the B1030A. Why Kevlar? Kevlar has an incredible strength-to-weight ratioAithat's one reason it's used in bulletproof vests. Kevlar gives the LF transducer the strength to handle the extremely high energy levels required for distortion-free, chest-pounding bass. And since they have such low mass, Kevlar speaker cones also respond much more quickly than those made of paper, important for not only maintaining bass content integrity, but critical for midrange accuracy and definition. Question: | PAIR OF MONITORS OR IS ONLY ONE |
Answer: | You only get one. Purchase two. |
Question: | I could buy two and connect them to work as a pair of monitors |
Answer: | Yes. Mine failed right after warranty, so buyer beware. Behringer is like Charlie Brown and Lucy. Every time I trust them, they pull the football away and I'm left with broken product that I have to replace. Behringer can great - when they work. I have divested myself of all Behringer. They were nice sounding too. Oh well. Buyer beware. I replaced them with JBL. I also have a set of Yamaha. Both work and sound great. |
Question: | Dust clings to the rubber front of these speakers like a magnet. Has anyone figured out an easy way to clean them |
Answer: | I can't stand dust on my electronics, so I do a few things - overkill someone might argue - but here it is: I use computer canned air to blow out the dust, and also use a compressor to blow out dust too - I use a small airbrush compressor and a gentle psi - just enough to move the dust to an awaiting vaccum cleaner hose to suck it all in. When I'm not using the monitors I throw a couple of clean towels over them, and I don't hesitate to use a soft bristle toothbrush to "broom" all the little spots that never seem to get clean enough for my taste. I will even use a very damp paper towel to wipe down the speakers as well - using only water - no glass cleaner or such. Nothing more than common sense and a lot of care to keep the monitors (and other gear) in the best possible condition. 'Hope this helps. |
Question: | PAIR |
Answer: | As Liam said, it is for a single speaker. I guess they thought writing single speaker in parenthesis would end the confusion of having a photo of a two. How they come to this conclusion, I do not know (maybe it is just a photo from the manufacturer). |

Question: | is this a pair of monitors or a single speaker |
Answer: | The Product Description reads, "24-Bit/192 kHz Digital 20-Watt Stereo Near Field Monitors (price per set, each set consists of 2 speakers)" and I received two speakers. |
Question: | what size woofer? and do they require 120 VAC or 240 vac |
Answer: | The pair I purchased was 120 VAC. The do not really have a woofer. They are about a 4" midrange and a tweeter. Bass response is very poor and they sound very tinny. Even with all my adjustments. Said to say but I have an old Phillips "home surround sound system" that sounds better than these. |
Question: | can you use these with a laptop |
Answer: | yes, of course you can use these with a laptop. the inputs are digital or analog (mini or stereo rca) |
Question: | Do these speakers have a cable to connect to each other |
Answer: | No just the power cable you need 3 aux cables 2 for the input and one from the left to right speaker |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone used this with a DI box in front of this unit and then plug in to this unit? For example, guitar->di box->this unit, if so did it work |
Answer: | @guitar->di box->this unitLate to the party here, but other potential buyers might want to know...A DI box basically converts the unbalanced instrument level signal to a balanced mic level signal. So this should work using the Micromon's xlr input.. not the 1/4". So in this situation you may use the Micromon's xlr thru-put out to a mixer channel. Furthermore you could also use the DI box's parallel 1/4" jack to feed a guitar amp... but in that case why do you need to hear it in a pair of headphone's or iem's as others have pointed out).BUT what this unit is intended to do is let to run your mic thru (in and out of) it for extra "just me" monitoring while also receiving a normal monitor/aux send mix from the mixer into the Micromon's 1/4" input. There are other, creative uses for this unit but just know that you results may very when you use any piece of equipment in a way in which it was not intended. And yes, you likely do need to monitor an acoustic guitar if you are on a noisy stage with drums, electrics etc. The ambient sound from the guitar alone is rarely enough in a "band" situation. But at the end of the day, imo, you'll get better results and keep things simpler if you just use a simple stage monitor/wedge. Hondo. |
Question: | Does this serve the same purpose as the Behringer MX400 Micromix 4 Channel Line Mixer in a way if I can get the signal to be stereo? thanks |
Answer: | You can get stereo output. Inputs however are one balanced 1/4" and the second is XLR. It's a great personal mixer and I use it every time I play live. I run the board mix into the 1/4" and then direct from my Line6 X3 Live into the XLR (Mic) input. |
Question: | I want to know if these would be good for all of my players in my praise and worship band. We play new style of worship |
Answer: | I don't use mine for playing out just for practice but the worship team at church uses two, lead guitar and drums.Mine works great for practice also. |
Question: | Can wireless headphones be used with this amp |
Answer: | I'd say any type of headphone can go into this amp. It has a quarter inch as well as 3.5mm jacks. All you need to do is plug it up properly and you'll have sound. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work as an audio interface for a music studio |
Answer: | Yes. It's designed to control the various audio outputs of your studio to your monitors. It has a USB connection to interface with your computer. However, it does not have a microphone preamp. You would need to add a preamp or a mixer with mic inputs if you want to use a mic and control it through this unit. |
Question: | What are the dimensions |
Answer: | 15.5" x 8.25" x 4" |
Question: | Can you hook up an external preamp to this device and where |
Answer: | I believe this has a pre amp built in. You can hook up an external power amp to feed passive speakers or ou can directly feed active speakers. This unit is a hub and is slick. I absolutely love this addition to my system. |
Question: | Is the signal chain passive? I don't want extra noise |
Answer: | It's passive, not adding or subtracting to the audio signal except volume level and switching audio sources. It's essentially a switch box with a good quality volume knob. It doesn't add any noise to the signal unless there is already noise in the signal going into this controller box. Which is not Behringers' fault but bad audio source. Also your power line has to be clean as well, bad voltage can cause noise in audio and bad power ground as well. |

User questions & answers
Question: | It appears that phantom power gets switched on all 4 mic pres simultaneously. Can I use dynamic & condenser mics together without causing damage |
Answer: | Because the one in the front is NOT powered. The rear inputs can power mics or active pickups, up to 48v. I run 9v batteries in all my active guitars, so they're already powered, so I just run all my guitars into the front input. If I'm recording my 4x12 cab, I use the XLR in the back with my SM57. |
Question: | will this power a microphone that requires phantom power? sorry if this is a dumb question, im new to XLR microphones |
Answer: | Your question has me curious. The data speed for this device will not get close to the rates requiring a cable with the thunderbolt 3 type throughout. The audio stream will get there just as fast with their stock cable and with a reasonably priced ($6-10) usb type c cable. The nicer cables are more about throughput than latency. |
Question: | Can it write four tracks simultaneosly |
Answer: | Audio is routed from the computer through USB-C to Evo. There are two 1/4” outputs on the back of the Evo to plug into speakers. |
Question: | Does this include a usb power cable that goes from the interface to the computer |
Answer: | My interface remembers its gain settings when rebooting. Both when I power cycle the unit and when my computer power cycles. Make sure you download the most up to date drivers for it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would you guys reccomend these for a bar 2500sqft place. How many would be good to fill up the room with quality sound. Thanks |
Answer: | I don't know about anyone else, but I think these Monitors are the hottest thing I've ever heard & I just love mine. I have a fairly big Studio room & they fill it up with great loud, clean & clear sound w/plenty of detail in ALL freq's - Bass-Mid -High. Others may disagree & suggest that you go bigger, but I think they will fit the job just fine for your size room, just as long as you drive them with a good powerful Amp - 100W or more (mine is 100W). The added Bonus, is if you go w/these & if you are a Musician, you can sneak in your Bar afterhours & use them to do your fine Mixdowns - How about that ? HTH (Hope This Helps) - CapnJ |
