Having more than 1 ground path can create thishum. Using Unsheilded cables can also create. So I think you have 2 options. If you are getting the hum in the car, than this should work fine. If you have the issue in the home you probably have a shielding issue and you could try this but your mileage may vary. |

| Answer: | It's a passive unit and it will not power up any equipment like guitar or keys. One end has unbalanced input (TR) and parallel out the other end, has balanced XLR so it can be used in a XLR mic input on a mixer. The main purpose is so in a studio setting a guitar player can go into an amp via (parallel out ) and XLR to the input on PA /mixing board to record effects while recording . This will not solve your issue, Example -in my band we rehearse in my studio garage my bass player doesn't bring his amp-( to heavy ) he plugs his bass in to a DI box with 1/4 inch TR (Tip Ring) and the other end I use a XLR cable from the DI box to Mic input on my mixing board. It increases the impedance --Unbalanced to Balanced.. It also has a ground lift to eliminate ground nose (BUZZ) Look for a book "The Ultimate Live Sound Operators Handbook" by Bill Gibson It explains everything. Hope I was helpful. |

The XLR side is male, so the cable would need a female connector, and the 1/4" / TRS / TS / Phone side is female, so you would need a cable with a male plug for this side. There's also a pass-through 1/4" jack wired in parallel with the adjacent 1/4" jack, as can be seen in the pictures.I'd buy this if... electrical noise was not an issue. The unit I got allows excessive electrical noise in anytime it's placed near other equipment, so it has to sit a foot or two away in an open space. I'm not very happy with the design of the unit in that respect, but other than that it's working well for me and is inexpensive. |
