Question:	What's a good USB battery pack to pair with this
Answer:	The biggest change is in the headroom. These preamps and converters are cleaner and offer more gain than the 2nd gen. These pres also come equipped with the "Air" mode which adds some high end to model the ISA preamp circuit. The 3rd gen 18i20 also has 16 ADAT I/O channels as opposed to the 2nd gen's 8 channels of ADAT. Answer:	Hi, There have been several improvements made to the 3rd generation range of interfaces. Firstly, all of the inputs on the 18i20 3rd gen feature Air mode, emulating the classic sound of our original transformer-based ISA preamps. Secondly, the 18i20 3rd gen now has the ability to switch between Main and Alternative speakers connected to it using a front panel button. Thirdly, we have added a built-in Talkback function (allowing the engineer to talk directly to the performer), a Loopback function (allowing audio from one application to be recorded into another without connecting cables), Dual ADAT ports for recording 16 channels of audio into the DAW at 96kHz, optical S/PDIF and removable rack ears. Lastly, the specifications of the preamps and conversion have been improved even further - for example, the dynamic range has been increased to 111dB and the gain range is now 56dB instead of 50dB on the 2nd generation. Answer:	Yes, it will work, depending on what camera you have. It comes with a TRRS plug which is required when you want to plug it into a cellphone to record audio. (*Reason being that a microphone requires power to run, and a cellphone jack doesn't give off power. Since this was designed with cellphone use in mind, they used a TRRS plug that would draw power from your phone to run the mic.*) However, if you want to plug it into a camera, or another device with an external mic jack, you will need to buy the Rode SC3 adapter. (*Reason being that devices with a jack for an external microphone do give off power to run that microphone, so the extra function of the TRRS tip is not necessary.*)That Rode SC3 adapter will change the plug from TRRS to TRS, which can then be used with your nikon dslr, or other device with a 3.5mm external microphone jack.

Answer:	You record individual tracks that are then mixed down by you into a stereo mp3 with this same unit. From there, you can do anything with the mp3 file - put it on a thumb drive, email it, upload it, etc. If you are asking "can you go directly to thumb drive?", I don't think there is an easy way. It has an SD card that you can take out and put in any card reader, then you would be able to transfer onto a thumb drive.

Answer:	I have tried 3 different brands of AA NiMH batteries in DR60DmkII and all work, though I have the BP-6AA now because the DR60DmkII goes through them so quickly! Though accessible when on a tripod, changing the batteries required that I lift up tripod + backup recorder I mount on top on its side. The BP-6AA + DR60DmkII lasts all day with six 4th gen Eneloops. As noted, just remember to change the "Battery Type" menu item under Others > System to NiMH.

Answer:	This one has pretty red colored handled in front - Seriously, after field and smoke testing the DR60D and this one, you prob won't be able to tell any difference. It's still a good unit, don't get me wrong; the DR60D is a great unit that I have used paired up with a Rode NTG-2 for a lot of great audio, but aside from a 'better' preamp (which most people won't notice in the audio quality anyway) there isn't a reason to upgrade to this if you already own a DR60D - Although I will say the colored handles do look pretty cool, but not a valid reason to upgrade from the previous unit. If you own the previous one, no need to get this. If you're in the market for one, get the newer one. Cheers!

Answer:	I record with protools, and Master with sound forge.. But I find myself recording almost everything I do live, with this.. Set the limiter to auto... Absolutely never clips or crackles.. then upload to computer and edit with a Mastering program.. All the Frequencies are there... It records great bass, mids, and trebles.. if you know how to eq and bring them out with plug ins.. I owned and used it for a year before I realized (not spreading the mics open / AB ) actually records better,, More similar tracks and easy to mix... I can rip down, chop, mix a complete band practice, and burn it on a CD in about an hour... Batteries Last Forever also... BEST VALUE HERE...

Answer:	The Zoom H4N is a better solution as a songwriter's portable workstation. In addition to having more flexibility with multitracking, it also has guitar amp and cabinet model effects, ideal for electric guitarists laying down demo tracks through headphones. The Tascam DR40X is superior as a stereo field recorder for gigs, especially loud or unpredictable ones, due to its ability to record at two levels at the same time (that is, record stereo while also recording stereo 12 dB lower, in case you set the levels a bit too high.) Andrizee is correct about what you can do, but what you cannot do is keep the multiple passes as separate tracks. That is, you can record multiple stereo tracks, but you're stuck with the mix you made when you recorded it (or you're limited to just two passes, or you have to do intermediate mixdowns for each new pass, which you cannot remix all together on the DR40x but you could load into a DAW and remix.) Chad Walker is correct about the limitations. You can't record one mono track, then another mono track, then another mono track, and then another, to end up with 4 mono tracks to mix together on the DR40x. The Zoom is much more flexible in this regard.
