User questions & answers
Question: | I purchased a shure blx24/pg58 wireless vocal system with pg58 handheld mic. if i wanted to add a wireless headset, what all would i need to buy |
Answer: | It depends on what your system is already at the church. If you have a Shure battery pack already then it should be compatible. That's why we stayed with Shure. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Do I need to purchase a wireless battery pack, and will it work with my current wireless at church. I am a keyboardist |
Answer: | No there is not a adapter that will work to use this as a wired mic. You must use this with a wireless Shure system for it to work correctly. |
Question: | Is there an XLR adaptor for the pga31 mic, in order to use as a wired mic |
Answer: | A: I got a Shure wireless headset which came with the transmitter and the receiver which is a clip on battery pack...it cost $360. Shure mics are the best and the setup has enormous range through walls and closed doors even going outside it still is perfect. I have been thinking of getting an extra headset and ended up here. The headsets are a lot cheaper than I was expecting! A person needs the transmitter and the body pack for it to work (FYI for somebody buying this...if you don't have the transmitter and battery pack slash receiver this headset isn't functional without the rest of that) I'm not sure if the headset will work with non Shure transmitters and receivers or if like how somebody has to use Chevy parts for a Chevy and can't use other brand manufacturers parts ...I prefer Shure components only because the reliability, quality and durability is as good as it gets. |
Question: | What else do I need to buy besides this headset and a set of speakers in order for this work |
Answer: | Yes, BluQbt microphone works with Android phones. For any Android phones with a standard 3.5mm phone jack, it will work |

Question: | will this work with samson airline |
Answer: | Things You Will Get:SM31FH Fitness HeadsetWindsceensUser's Guide |
Question: | i would like to know see a picture for the package and what is included on the package |
Answer: | This is not a true wireless headset and is not bluetooth capable. The headset is still wired and requires it to be connected to a body pack (which transmits wirelessly to a receiver). |
Question: | Do you know if you can pair this with a blue tooth speaker |
Answer: | It comes witht the windscreen and its standard TA4F connector for wireless bodypacks. |
Question: | Is the Condenser Microphone coming with all equitment to connect to the amplifier |
Answer: | Hi,You will first need to know the particular frequency band of your BLX24/PG58. It can be located on the back of your receiver on a silver sticker or where you put in the batteries for your handheld microphone. It will most likely be H8, J10, K12 or M15.If you are looking to use the PGA31 along with your current system, you will then need to purchase a Shure body pack transmitter called the BLX1. You will need to make sure you purchase the same frequency band as your current system in order to pair it properly. Once you have that, all you do is plug the PGA31 into the body pack, match the group/channel the same way you would with your handheld microphone and you're set. Also, Shure has discontinued the K12 and M15 frequency bands and brand new body packs for these frequency bands will be harder and harder to find as time goes on. Shure has also recently discontinued the H8 frequency band, but these should still be available for a while. The new frequency bands that will be replacing the discontinued bands are the H9 and H10, but they will not be able to pair up with any of the other discontinued bands. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this require speakers |
Answer: | Yes and an amplifier for the speakers, or a Bluetooth amplified speaker is what we use. |
Question: | Is this system compatible with the shure pga31 mic |
Answer: | Shouldn't be a problem. If this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us. We can help with support after the sale as well. We have it in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio |
Question: | Can this sync to a MacBook |
Answer: | It does not sync to anything. It is a transmitter and receiver pair. The receiver plugs into an analog audio input of some kind. It has 1/4" and XLR outputs. |
Question: | I wear child-size hats...how adjustable is the mic and does the size mechanism hold up |
Answer: | I always have a problem with mics falling off, I bobby pin therm, clip them, whatever and they fall off the minute I jump. This one is a lot better. It doesn't adjust really, but it "holds" and if you wear a hat it helps quite a bit. Its probably one of the best I've ever used. I'm a GF director... Been teaching 20+ years. |

User questions & answers
Question: | We need a wireless system to run fitness classes. is this the best one at the low end of the price range & do we need to buyanything else to use it |
Answer: | The mic headset is actually flexible, so very comfortable! |
Question: | Will the mic headset fit comfortably for someone who teaches fitness and wears glasses |
Answer: | There is no difference in the unit itself other than what frequency band it operates on. Different frequency bands will have different occupied / non-occupied channels which could affect whether you have interference or drop outs during use. Refer to Shure's wireless frequency finder page: http://www.shure.com/americas/support/tools/wireless-frequency-finder to find out which frequency band best suits your area. The H8, K12 and M15 bands are now discontinued and not recommended for future use. The current bands are the H9, H10 and J10. |
Question: | Why would one buy the H8 versus the M15? I see they are different frequency but what would that mean |
Answer: | I am not sure about an Ion. My receiver unit connects to a Fender Passport PD150 PA system using a standard XLR Male/Female cable. |
Question: | Will this unit connect to an ion pathfinder portable speaker |
Answer: | No. The Airline 77 has the transmitter built into the microphones headband. There is no way to plug a different mic into that transmitter. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work with a blx4 receiver |
Answer: | has to have a receiver then a sound board to plug into... or amplifier... here is an example of a set https://www.amazon.com/Channel-Wireless-Microphone-System-Transmitter/dp/B00DO7AAJW/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=sure+wireless+pa+microphone+headset&qid=1554560518&s=gateway&sr=8-4 |
Question: | I bought the headset mic (shure SM31FH) and the transmitters (BLX1=-H9) and still don’t know how it should work |
Answer: | sorry, I ended up returning this item since I didn't need it. |
Question: | Wpuld this work with mic and receiver beta 87A |
Answer: | No. Each bodypack model work with different frequencies. You must check the specs of the receiver and find the matching pack. |
Question: | Will this work with any Shure receiver |
Answer: | As the previous answer has stated, this is not a stand alone system. This is just the wireless microphone system which you will have to connect to a sound system or a portable PA system which can accommodate the 1/4" (phono) or XLR plug. You will also need a 1/4" or XLR cable as Shure wireless systems do not come with one. As for the system itself, the BLX14/P31 comes with the standard PGA31 headset, which a lot of fitness classes use, but is prone to rusting over time. Shure also offers a fitness headset which is more resistant to sweat and humid environments called the SM31FH and is included in the full wireless system called the BLX14/SM31. Both are excellent systems for fitness use though. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how does this mic work and what is needed for it to operate |
Answer: | It has a single plug measuring a quarter inch in diameter...hence the QTR in the name. It is the same as the plug you find on a guitar cable that plugs into an amp. Hope this helps :) |
Question: | I bought the WH20XLR and the plug won't work with my transmitter. Does the QTR have a single plug or a three pronged plug |
Answer: | It's a good mic but as a band member, singer, engineer I always recommend drummers who sing to have an easy off & on switch that way the mic doesn't pick up more drums when your not singing! |
Question: | is it a good mic for a drummer who sings back up |
Answer: | This product works great with good voice recognition software, I use it with Dragon Naturally Speaking. And yes, you can find the XLR adapter on Amazon. |
Question: | I want to use it for voice recognition dictation to my laptop. Will it be suitable for this |
Answer: | Hello - it should work with any Shure transmitter that has the TA4F port. That's the small 4-pin plug. |

WH20 Dynamic Headset Microphone
The Shure WH20 is a rugged, lightweight, dynamic headset microphone that provides high-quality voice pickup. It fits securely for active microphone users, such as aerobics instructors and musicians, with low visibility for stage appearances.
The cardioid (unidirectional) pickup pattern provides greater gain-before-feedback and isolation from ambient noise and other unwanted sound sources. A carefully shaped frequency response includes a voice-frequency presence peak and a low-frequency roll-off to compensate for the proximity effect inherent in cardioid mics during close-talk operation.
Microphone Parts
The WH20 consists of the following parts (see image above). The headset features a collapsible boom for shipment and storage. Before wearing the headset, unfold the boom until it snaps and locks into place. Refold for storage or transportation.
Frequency Response
Type: Dynamic, Close-Talking
Frequency Response (at 8 mm):
50 to 15,000 Hz
Polar Pattern
Cardioid (unidirectional) response-uniform with frequency, symmetrical about axis.
Wiring Diagram
The WH20XLR has a three-pin male XLR connector with a convenient detachable belt clip.
Wearing the Headset
Place the headset wireframe around the head so that the wireframe and elastic band are horizontal across the back of the head and the ends of the wireframe fit over and in front of the ears. Position the elastic headband either above or below the wireframe to provide the greatest comfort and stability. The white “SHURE” should face outward.
Positioning the Microphone
IMPORTANT: For maximum gain before feedback, position the gooseneck so that the microphone grille (silver side) is within 25 mm (1 inch) of the right corner of the mouth. Do NOT position it directly in front of the mouth.
Adjusting the Wireframe
If the headset feels loose or uncomfortable, carefully bend the sides of the wireframe to make it tighter or looser (Figure A). The angle of the wireframe earpieces may also need adjustment (Figure B).
Elastic Headband Adjustment
Adjust the tension of the elastic headband across the back of the head by sliding it up or down the ends of the wireframe.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this one specifically for singers use or would it be more prominent of a difference for me to buy the orange one |
Answer: | Yes, this does require phantom power. I almost sent it back, thinking it didn't work, then I pushed phantom power button and it came alive. The description of the Icicle says "It's even got 48V phantom power for those power-hungry condenser mics." So you should be good to go. |
Question: | Does the wired version of this mic require phantom power? if so, then what powers it when connected to usb icicle |
Answer: | The SM35 is not specifically designed for fitness use as it does not offer the type of sweat/water protection that the SM31FH offers. The reason musicians use the SM35 over the SM31FH is because it has a larger and much higher quality microphone capsule which offers better sound quality compared to that of the SM31FH. |
Question: | This looks exactly like the model for fitness instructors, yet all reviews look like musicians - it's model number matches as well? Fitness use |
Answer: | It depends on what type of a system you are looking for. Shure offers numerous wireless systems and the SM35 headset microphone is compatible with most.If you want to purchase the entire system with the SM35 already included, you can look at:BLX14R/SM35: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/blx-wireless-systems/blx14r-sm35GLXD14/SM35:http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/glxd-digital-wireless-systems/glxd14-sm35QLXD14/SM35: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/qlxd-digital-wireless-systems/qlxd14-sm35If you already have a Shure body pack, then you will need to buy the corresponding receiver to use it with. With BLX receivers/body packs, be sure to have matching frequency bands i.e. H8, H9, H10, etc.Separate components receivers:BLX4BLX4RGLXD4QLXD4Separate component body packs:BLX1GLXD1QLXD1 |
Question: | If the mic is wireless and I buy a body pack transmitter, is there a base station needed? If so which one |
Answer: | This headset uses a TA4F / TQG / Mini 4 Pin XLR plug which requires a Shure wireless body pack to use. Example: Shure BLX14/P31 is the type of wireless system it would require and you would just substitute the headset. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it have mute button |
Answer: | The unit does not come with rechargeable batteries. I would assume you could get rechargeable AA batteries to use in the transmitter. The receiver is AC powered, and does not use batteries. |
Question: | Does it come with rechargable batteries? Can that be bought separately |
Answer: | I like my Shure package combination listed above |
Question: | If i wanted to get a back-up/spare body pack, which one would i order for this system |
Answer: | You need either an amplifier and speaker or an amplified speaker. |
Question: | Do I need a speaker? I would like to use it outdoors (like a tour guide). Will it be suitable |
Answer: | The SM35 has the larger frequency response range at 40-20k Hz compared to the SM31FH's 45-20k Hz so the SM35 will be slightly better for singing. The SM31FH (Orange) features sweat proof/resistant features which will prevent rusting in humid environments. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used with in-ear monitors rather than the mic |
Answer: | The PGA 31 works well. Have used it during live gigs without problems. With any headset mic you lose vocal mic control, but for a musician singing (I play drums) it's a very good option. It's good for a backup singer? For lead vocals better to get a regular mic and mic stand. |
Question: | PGA 31 good system |
Answer: | There is an on / off switch on the bodypack. Unfortunately, there is no mute button. |
Question: | Is there a mute switch on the microphone or body pack? This is very important for a wireless headset when communication on stage is needed |
Answer: | No. This is a single channel receiver so only 1 transmitter can be used at a time. |
Question: | Can i buy this set and then add 4 headset/mic into the same receiver |
Answer: | The transmitter has s single toggle switch which is used to turn the unit on and off when held down, but can also be tapped quickly to put the transmitter into standby mode. This basically amounts to a mute button. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there any feedback regarding using as a singing drummer? Is it unidirectional |
Answer: | Great for vocals honestly. That is 100% of what we use it for. We host conferences for 800-1500 people and use this and it’s perfect. |
Question: | Dumb question but I have to ask it: looks like most people use this for instruments. How is it for lead vocals |
Answer: | not directly, you would still need one more interface to convert to USB. I don't know of any wireless systems that also have a built in computer interface. plenty of wired options but I don't believe anything of quality exists yet wirelessly |
Question: | Does this connect into pc for use with zoom or teams |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does it come with a carrying case |
Answer: | This unit is for mic or instrument only input. Output goes to a mixer for output to speakers. Shure PSM300 P3TR112GR Wireless In-Ear Personal Monitoring System is what I would use. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this system compatible with ipad pro? trying to find a duo lapel, wireless microphone system for ipad pro to record mini social media videos. thank |
Answer: | Assuming the unit is the same one we bought the antennas are internal on the mic transmitter and external on the receiver. The picture at the left of the question doesn't match our units. |
Question: | Internal antenna |
Answer: | We own two of these systems. The only way we can get the for transmitters to work is if they are on separating channels. For example, all odd channels or all even. I started out with channel 1,2,3 and 4. That did not work and gave terrible crosstalk. I now have them setup as, 3, 5, 7 and 9. |
Question: | It says you can use up to 12 systems, does this refer to 12 Receivers (24 Transmitters) or only 12 Transmitters |
Answer: | The size, (dimensions) for these are all the same. The difference is the frequency range the wireless microphone use ? I highly recommend you to review www.shure.com and find out the recommended frequency (group) for your area. It can greatly reduce the interference. |
Question: | What is the difference in the sizes? h8, h9, h10, j10, k12, m |
Answer: | This would not be the most ideal microphone for a vocal Mic for a drummer... the beta 98h/c is a clip on Mic used for wind instruments... for example... trumpets, saxophones, etc... I would probably recommend the headset version of the Shure GLXD... hope this helps! |
