User questions & answers
Question: | Is this mic compatible with the BLX288/pg58 system |
Answer: | It is compatible with the BLX1 body pack. The BLX1 body pack is a transmitter for the BLX wireless system and requires a lavalier or headset microphone to use with it while the BLX2/PG58 is it's own transmitter microphone. For combo systems, you can look at the BLX1288/CVL or the BLX188/CVL. |
Question: | Hello, I bought this lapel, my problem is I need one adapter to use this lapel on my computer ... What is the name of this adapter |
Answer: | These lapel Mics themselves do not have a pre-amp and since it is a condenser Mic you will also need Phantom Power. So you need a device that will provide Phantom Power + Pre-amplification. A USB Interface like the Behringer U-Phoria UM2, will do the trick. The UM2 has RCA output as well as USB interface. Amazon has it Prime $45. I found it on Full Compass for $30. Also since the connector is a TAF4 (4-pin Mini XLR Female) you will need an adaptor or cable that is TAM4 (4-pin Mini XLR Male) on one side and a XLR Male or TRS Male on the other side. If you are comfortable with soldering iron, the cheapest option is to cut off the TAF4 connector and replace it with standard XLR Male connector. |
Question: | Can I use it as regular microphone without connecting it to a wireless system |
Answer: | Shure makes a TA4F to XLR adapter, so yes, this can be used without a wireless system. The only way I know to get the adapter is to get the SM93, which includes the adapter and a WL93 lavalier mic. |
Question: | hi is this wired with XLR or a wireless |
Answer: | It's wired with a mini XLR into a body pack transmitter, you have to have the transmitter and receiver to use this microphone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Pls does this come with a power pack that can work outside the us, say uk; or do i have to buy a step down for the voltage |
Answer: | The power supply and unit are both rated for 110/220 so yes, it will work in the UK. However, the frequency band that the unit operates on might not. |
Question: | How many transmitters can be used with a single wireless receiver |
Answer: | As many as you want but only one at the time, otherwise you get data collision because you can only select one channel |
Question: | Would one lapel microphone work for a wedding ceremony (party standing about 3-4 feet apart |
Answer: | I would not recommend it because these microphones are built to pick up signal only at close range to avoid to much noise from the surrounding. It may work in a given scenario but it will be pretty messy because either you have to crank up the sensitivity and then you pick up everybody else in the room or you won't hear one or the other party |
Question: | I want to know about the frequency response, distortion, reception sensitivity and signal/noise,and how long could it work, how many channels does it hav |
Answer: | CVL Lavalier: https://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/centraverse/cvl-lavalier-condenser-microphone#details Frequency Response: 50-20 kHz Output Impedance: 600 Ohms @ 1 kHz , typical Audio Output Level: -43.5 dBV/Pa Signal to Noise Ration: 72 db @ 1 kHz Maximum SPL: 139.0 dB 1000 Ohm load, @ 3% THD Dynamic Range: 117.0 dB @ 1 kHz, 1000 Ohm load Equivalent Output Noise: 22 dB Typical, A-weighted The following link provides a chart showing other Shure headsets/lavaliers that will work with the BLX system if the above specs are not what you are looking for. Specs for each type of headset/lavalier can be found on Shure's website and going to the "Software/Download > Specification Sheet" for each product. The BLX14/CVL is a single channel wireless system that uses AA batteries and can last up to 14 hours of continuous use with a 300ft max outdoor range, lower if using indoors. The BLX wireless systems have up to 15 groupings with 6-12 channels per grouping available for frequency selection so well over 100 frequencies to select from, but only a specific few are most recommended to be used in certain areas to avoid interference. User questions & answers
Question: | Is the windscreen necessary when using this microphone indoors |
Answer: | We (Masque & Mime Society of Roy C Ketcham High School) use mostly WL-93 mics with Shure wireless transmitters for stage productions. We tape the mics over the ear to the cheek or through the hair on the forehead. We have never used a windscreen as we want the mics to be as hidden as possible. You just have to assure that they are not in front of the mouth where the breath (wind) would flow over the mic. The only place you might need a windscreen is if the mic was used as concert mics directly in front of the mouth. (Increasing in popularity but, to me, very distracting to the audience for a stage production.) |
Question: | Can you clip |
Answer: | The clip is separate so no it does't clip by itself. |
Question: | Can this mic be affixed to a performer's hairline |
Answer: | Yes! We use them all the time, bobby pinned into the hair part or the wig, wth the Mic just at the hairline in the middle of the forehead. We've even painted them, being careful not to block the Mic holes. |
Question: | What's the connector |
Answer: | It has a 4 pin mini connector. It's designed to connect to the Shure BLX wireless body pack. If you're looking for something with a quarter inch headphone jack then try this Pro Lavalier Lapel Microphone JK MIC-J 044 for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitter - Omnidirectional Condenser Mic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009YCI62Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_L8wVxb2TVHM03 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this mic work for a big church like 5,000 square foot space |
Answer: | I think you mean 5000 members not sq ft because 5000 sq ft its small space ......but this work for 5000 members yes |
Question: | How long is the cord |
Answer: | The cord is a standard lavalier microphone chord, about 3 feet. |
Question: | Does it include the pop filter and the tie clip |
Answer: | Yes they come standard with the clip and filter |
Question: | How do I connect this to a 3.5mm input from a Laptop or an iPhone |
Answer: | That Lavalier mic is designed to be used with either a wireless Lavalier microphone pack or it need a small shure power supply. It will not hook up directly to a computer. You might want to see if you can find a USB Lavalier microphone. If you type that into the Amazon search engine it will show you a few choices. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I purchased a shure blx24/pg58 wireless vocal system with pg58 handheld mic. if i wanted to add a wireless headset, what all would i need to buy |
Answer: | It depends on what your system is already at the church. If you have a Shure battery pack already then it should be compatible. That's why we stayed with Shure. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Do I need to purchase a wireless battery pack, and will it work with my current wireless at church. I am a keyboardist |
Answer: | No there is not a adapter that will work to use this as a wired mic. You must use this with a wireless Shure system for it to work correctly. |
Question: | Is there an XLR adaptor for the pga31 mic, in order to use as a wired mic |
Answer: | A: I got a Shure wireless headset which came with the transmitter and the receiver which is a clip on battery pack...it cost $360. Shure mics are the best and the setup has enormous range through walls and closed doors even going outside it still is perfect. I have been thinking of getting an extra headset and ended up here. The headsets are a lot cheaper than I was expecting! A person needs the transmitter and the body pack for it to work (FYI for somebody buying this...if you don't have the transmitter and battery pack slash receiver this headset isn't functional without the rest of that) I'm not sure if the headset will work with non Shure transmitters and receivers or if like how somebody has to use Chevy parts for a Chevy and can't use other brand manufacturers parts ...I prefer Shure components only because the reliability, quality and durability is as good as it gets. |
Question: | What else do I need to buy besides this headset and a set of speakers in order for this work |
Answer: | Yes, BluQbt microphone works with Android phones. For any Android phones with a standard 3.5mm phone jack, it will work |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this system compatible with ipad pro? trying to find a duo lapel, wireless microphone system for ipad pro to record mini social media videos. thank |
Answer: | I would highly recommend getting a USB audio interface and a lightning to USB adapter (a.k.a. camera kit) to plug a mic into your iPad. It'll make life easier, even though it's another expense. Brands like Focusrite, Behringer, Steinberg, MOTU, Roland all make good 2-input interfaces that are class compliant and would work great. |
Question: | Internal antenna |
Answer: | Assuming the unit is the same one we bought the antennas are internal on the mic transmitter and external on the receiver. The picture at the left of the question doesn't match our units. |
Question: | It says you can use up to 12 systems, does this refer to 12 Receivers (24 Transmitters) or only 12 Transmitters |
Answer: | We own two of these systems. The only way we can get the for transmitters to work is if they are on separating channels. For example, all odd channels or all even. I started out with channel 1,2,3 and 4. That did not work and gave terrible crosstalk. I now have them setup as, 3, 5, 7 and 9. |
Question: | What is the difference in the sizes? h8, h9, h10, j10, k12, m |
Answer: | The size, (dimensions) for these are all the same. The difference is the frequency range the wireless microphone use ? I highly recommend you to review www.shure.com and find out the recommended frequency (group) for your area. It can greatly reduce the interference. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What's the difference between tqg and xlr |
Answer: | The TQG is the connector that fits into the body pack. It is smaller than the XLR and has a release knob to disconnect the mic cord from the body pack. Check the body pack for the type of connection it uses. Mine uses the TQG. |
Question: | Is there any else to buy in order to use this mic |
Answer: | Yes, you need some kind of Shure wireless mic with beltpack and receiver. We use this mic with a $6000 mic system. |
Question: | Will this mic connect to my shure ulx1 wireless bodypack transmitter |
Answer: | No. |
Question: | Will this "shure mx150b/o-xlr omnidirectional 5mm subminiature lavalier microphone with xlr preamp" work with a shure blx1 body pack |
Answer: | I’m pretty sure it will work. The xlr preamp included is removable so the mic can either plug directly into a mixer with it, or into the blx beltpack without it. The lav should have shure’s TQG connector built-in and the xlr portion is removable. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can anyone say whether this would be compatible with a shure mx153 microhone attachment? such as this one: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/b007otuj |
Answer: | Yes, I believe it would be. I've used the Av-jefes Avl-630-sh4 with it and had great success, which is much cheaper, but I'm sure the Shure would be a great option as well. |
Question: | Is this compatible with 220voltage power |
Answer: | My best recommendation is to directly contact Shure, the manufacturer. I wouldn't trust any other opinion unless I knew the person I was seeking an answer from and unless I knew that person's qualifications to be able to answer this question. I hope this helps. |
Question: | How many lavs can we attach to it |
Answer: | I used this model in classroom with one Lavalier. It only had one wireless remote as shown. Great product, great clarity. |
Question: | if i buy another mic and transmitter, can the receiver take 2 signals at once |
Answer: | Sure... and all the issues that go along with it. Not a good practice. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this one specifically for singers use or would it be more prominent of a difference for me to buy the orange one |
Answer: | The SM35 has the larger frequency response range at 40-20k Hz compared to the SM31FH's 45-20k Hz so the SM35 will be slightly better for singing. The SM31FH (Orange) features sweat proof/resistant features which will prevent rusting in humid environments. |
Question: | Does the wired version of this mic require phantom power? if so, then what powers it when connected to usb icicle |
Answer: | Yes, this does require phantom power. I almost sent it back, thinking it didn't work, then I pushed phantom power button and it came alive. The description of the Icicle says "It's even got 48V phantom power for those power-hungry condenser mics." So you should be good to go. |
Question: | This looks exactly like the model for fitness instructors, yet all reviews look like musicians - it's model number matches as well? Fitness use |
Answer: | The SM35 is not specifically designed for fitness use as it does not offer the type of sweat/water protection that the SM31FH offers. The reason musicians use the SM35 over the SM31FH is because it has a larger and much higher quality microphone capsule which offers better sound quality compared to that of the SM31FH. |
Question: | If the mic is wireless and I buy a body pack transmitter, is there a base station needed? If so which one |
Answer: | It depends on what type of a system you are looking for. Shure offers numerous wireless systems and the SM35 headset microphone is compatible with most.If you want to purchase the entire system with the SM35 already included, you can look at:BLX14R/SM35: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/blx-wireless-systems/blx14r-sm35GLXD14/SM35:http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/glxd-digital-wireless-systems/glxd14-sm35QLXD14/SM35: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/qlxd-digital-wireless-systems/qlxd14-sm35If you already have a Shure body pack, then you will need to buy the corresponding receiver to use it with. With BLX receivers/body packs, be sure to have matching frequency bands i.e. H8, H9, H10, etc.Separate components receivers:BLX4BLX4RGLXD4QLXD4Separate component body packs:BLX1GLXD1QLXD1 |
