User questions & answers

Question: How can i determine which frequency to buy? i looked on their actual website and location/zipcode i use is not working. so
Answer: You can purchase any of the frequencies that they offer - they all work the same, but at different frequencies. The only reason you would pick a specific is if you have another device in the room (or in a nearby room) that is using one of the offered frequencies. For instance you might want to use a second wireless microphone in the room (or in in a room next door0 -- then you would want to select two different frequencies of this microphone. These mics are very reliable.
Question: I am confused I bought this and I thought this entire system runs on battery
Answer: The handheld uses 2 AA batteries. The receiver has a power adapter for your power outlet.
Question: Some of our users want headset mic. What would be compatible headset mic, and can i order it together with this set
Answer: You will not be able to use a headset and handheld mic at the same time. The SM31 headset has a nonslip coating. The PGA31 and WH20 will work. But you need a BLX1 bodpack with frequency H9 (or whichever frequency receiver you currently have).
Question: Does this sm58 come as a dual one. I only found the pg58 dual not the sm
Answer: Shure does not make a premade BLX combo with 2 x SM58 microphones. The only way would be to purchase the BLX88 (dual channel receiver) and 2 x BLX2/SM58 (transmitter).

User questions & answers

Question: Does it pick up voices from all angles for multiple singers uaing one mic for do you have to be directly in front of it
Answer: Probably- I don't have an Otterbox case. I use mine on devices without a case. I highly recommend this kind of mount for an inexpensive camera tripod, by the way. Question: I want to buy this article in colombia. is the price for this mic (including shipping price) all that i have to pay? or will i require to pay more
Answer: The MV88 used with the Shure Motiv App will handle SPLs of up to 120 dB. That's very loud and certainly in the hearing damaging range. The App compressor can keep the recording software from clipping if you start recording with too high a gain setting, but cannot keep the mic itself from clipping if you exceed 120 dB SPL. The Motiv App allows for 37dB of gain adjustment, and for very loud SPLs can be set for "0dB" gain. I've recorded a full symphony orchestra peaking at 103 dB SPL up close with the gain set to 20dB and the peaks hit no higher than -3 dB digitally with no limiting. However, some heavy metal bands can produce very dangerous SPLs that do exceed 120 dB close to their speakers, so limiter or not, it is possible to overdrive the MV88.
Question: Which of the shure wireless mic would you recommend for a church gathering of 300 to 500 people

Shure SM58 Dynamic Vocal Microphone Features: Smooth, mid-frequency presence rise for world-famous SM58 Mic sound, Uniform cardioid pickup pattern isolates the main sound source, Minimizes background noise, Pneumatic shock-mount system cuts down handling noise, Rugged construction for extreme reliability in demanding applications, Effective, built-in spherical wind and pop filter, 50 to 15,000 Hz frequency response, Supplied with break-resistant stand adapter which rotates 180 degrees, Legendary Shure quality, ruggedness, and reliability, Includes a mic stand adapter and a zippered storage pouch, Proximity Effect: When the sound source is less than 1/4 inch from the microphone, the microphone boosts bass frequencies (by 6 to 10 dB at 100 Hz), creating a warmer and richer bass sound than when farther away. This effect, known as proximity effect, happens only in unidirectional dynamic microphones like the Shure SM58 Vocal Mic. The low-frequency roll-off on the SM58 provides greater control, allowing the user to take full advantage of proximity effect.

User questions & answers

Question: I apologize for my ignorance. Need for my church. Does this run on battery alone or does it have to be hooked up to something to work
Answer: I have the AT2020USB+ version of this mic, it's USB and it has a blue light.I am buying this XLR version to run through my USB interface like my guitar does, so the sound is only coming from one device.
Question: How long is the cable that I can get with this mic
Answer: Hi,Yes, it has the three-prong XLR connector. I
Question: What amplifier or mixer [ $20- $50 ] should i buy which is compatible with sm58 ? need suggestion
Answer: If you use a conversion box, yes. This specific model uses an XLR interface because it requires phantom power (three prong, cylindrical shape). You can spend about $100 on a usb conversion box and use this model. I Use an AKAI professional ($250+) which can handle up to 4 mics and 4 outputs ALONG WITH the usb cable. All that said, you can bypass the whole thing and buy an "AT2020 USB". It hooks directly up to the laptop and there's no other equipment to buy. Warning: If you use an AT2020 USB, it will eat up your battery life, you NEED to have your machine plugged in to use it for a long duration. Reason is: the mic takes about 40 volts of power and audio recording and engineering is a processor intensive task (more CPU work = more power being consumed), it also takes a lot of memory so your HDD will be running non stop.If you're using this for fun, get the USB and save the money. If you're looking to get into more serious work, use the XLR as it's compatible with more high end equipment.
Question: Feel free to laugh a bit and excuse my ignorance. I am starting voice lessons does this microphone only work with a computer? Or can I hook it up to something different? Ok no more laughing. Thank You
Answer: No, it does NOT come with an XLR cable or a stand.

User questions & answers

Question: I thought this came with a 1/8" adapter to bring the size down from 1/4? Maybe I read the ad wrong. Do you sell 1/4 to 1/8 adapters
Answer: This mic does not come with that adapter. There are certainly many 1/4" to 1/8" adapters on Amazon.
Question: Porque me indica que no tiene cable en la descripción
Answer: Biene el cable separado pero en el mismo paquete
Question: I need a cable connector to connect this microphone to the machine. What do I need to buy
Answer: What do you mean by machine? You can order this mike with a XLR to XLR cable or a XLR to QTR cable. The diference between the XLR and the QTR terminal is the connector. The XLR is a 3 prom jack and the QTR is a 1/4" jack, similar to the 1/8" or 3.5mm jack you use in you cel phone or most of the stereos. If you have a regular 3.5mm input in your stereo, mixer or amplifyer yiu need to buy this mike with a XLR to QTR cable and a Reduction Jack from 1/4" Female to 1/8" Male. All the mikes terminal are XLR Female,, so the difference is at the other end of the cable, You either use a XLR terminal/jack or a 1/4" jack.
Question: What is the difference between pga48-qtr and pga48-xlr
Answer: the qtr has a 1/4" cable, the XLR has an xlr cable. We have a package with stand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017RLEPZ0/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me= or the xlr version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072DX341N/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=

User questions & answers

Question: How to connect to home audio receiver
Answer: you can utilize either the XLR or 1/4" audio output ports into the input of the receiver. you would need the appropriate cabling to do so, all dependent on the details of the receiver and its available input options
Question: is this a blue tooth wireless system
Answer: no , it is not
Question: I see blx288/pg58, blx288/sm58 and blx288/b58 have the same receiver but different microphones. How to tell the difference of the microphone
Answer: A comparison between the Shure SM58, Shure B58 and Shure PG58 microphones. The Shure SM58 is a "stage mic" designed to pick up more "off-axis vocals and sounds" that allow other vocalists to be heard "more naturally" while on stage. This feature helps to compliment stage monitors. However, the "off-axis" technology of the Shure SM58 is not good for small stage areas, particularly if there are a large quantity of mics, speaker cabinets and floor monitors within close proximity to each other. In such small spaces, the SM58 is more prone to feedback. The Shure B58 ("Beta 58") is a better choice for smaller areas and is more suitable for "recording live performance vocals" because it is better at handling a wider frequency range for both male and female vocals. This mic also has a "greater rejection curve" which simply means that the mic will not pick up sounds "outside of the vocal axis" (i.e. - the mic won't pick up sounds on the backside of the mic). The Shure PG58 is "tuned" specifically for vocal applications and is engineered to be less susceptible to feedback and able to handle extreme volumes without distortion. It is also engineered to reduce wind noise and explosive breath sounds. M. Guess

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference between the sm58 and the pga58? I am a moble dj and karaoke host. I have customers that are really particular about the sound
Answer: The PGA58 is the cheap version of the SM58. The SM58 will sound a little better. If you're not super sensitive to sound then the PGA58 will likely work just fine. If I were a DJ I would do the SM58 and then just have a mixer to turn the mic off if need be. PGA58 has an ON/OFF switch on it so it can be turned off by accident. But, some folks want a power switch on the mic.
Question: Does this mic have an internal shock mount
Answer: All mics have some internal shock mount. But depending on your use, it may not be adequate. This mic is average noise for what is considered a handheld mic.
Question: Do i need xlr male to female or male to male
Answer: The microphone uses a standard XLR and has three prongs. If you order a cord with the microphone they will give you a choice of XLR or 1/4", this choice pertains to the end that does not plug into the microphone. Personnaly I selected the 1/4" so I could plug it into my amplifier (my amp has two inputs) while practicing. The 1/4" will also plug into our group's PA system becasue the PA has a plug that accepts either 1/4" or XLR. Saying all that, you need a cord with a female XLR to plug into the microphone's male XLR and the other end will be either a male 1/4" or male XLR to plug into whatever you are using to amplify your voice.
Question: Can you plug in this mic to an amp? My previous mic plug had a long silver end on it but this one doesn't have one
Answer: The cable that comes with it is XLR to XLR, so no, it won't plug into the amp without a 1/4" connector. Cable is not permanently attached to the mic, and can be changed to an XLR TO 1/4" type cable. The mic is incredible and worth every penny.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I buy another mic and use 2 at the same time
Answer: This unit's receiver is a single channel so you can only use 1 transmitter at a time. If you want to use 2 simultaneously, you will need the dual channel receiver BLX88 and purchase the BLX2/B58 transmitter separately. You will need to ensure they are all the same frequency band though i.e H9, H10, J10. Or you could consider the dual wireless package BLX288/PG58 or the BLX288/SM58.
Question: Would I be able to use this H9 band at the same time as i use my H8 microphone? The H9 has almost the same frequency coverage
Answer: Yes, you will be able to use the H8 and H9 simultaneously as the H8 and H9 only share 2 identical frequencies.
Question: I've had this system for 4 years now, and the handle has a crack running from the power button to the top. Where can I find a replacement handle only
Answer: You should contact Shure..... i think you can send the mic and they give you a replacement..... this works on the mic electronics, but i’m not shure if works with the hardware.
Question: How is it for picking up acoustical guitar? Looking for a good, yet decently priced mic for our coffee bar that I can tie into our existing sound
Answer: I would go with the SM-57 shure instrument mic it’s the standard
