Answer: Hi Sam,The mic should work on your camera if connected properly using our compatibility guide. We have not been able to test it out on the D3300 as of yet, but if your camera supports external microphones then it should work. All the best :)
Question: Thanks for the reviews! Now I'm a bit confused - I'm very happy with the video that my iPhone 5s takes, but I'm just looking for a mic that will allow me to do an interview video with a person standing several feet away. Do I need to install an additional app? I assumed the mic would just help boost the quality of soun
Answer: 4.9ft/1.5m for the mic cable, and 9.8ft/3m for the extension cable.
Question: Can I use it on Android
Answer: Hi Mohammed, Yes it does :D
Question: Can this product work on a Nikon Camera
Answer: Yes. For Zoom H6, the mic is compatible if you plug it into the Line In jack on the X/Y capsule that sits on the top of the mic. We are not sure about other capsules, but the X/Y are the most common ones that come with those mics, so that is what the Purple Panda mic is intended for.

User questions & answers

Question: There is a jack in the back, but can I play normal mobile inside of the sound (the sound of songs and videos
Answer: You can plug a headphone into it and listen to your mobile device. You cannot hear when you are recording with the mic, to check sound levels, you have to play it back when you are done recording.
Question: will this work on an iphone
Answer: I'm not certain, I have a "7" and it works fine on my iPhone. The specific detail is the distance between the insert that goes into the headphone opening...does the 8+ have a headphone jack? If so it will likely work.
Question: I have a samsung galaxy s8 and i like to video loud live concerts. will this microphone get me better audio results in loud situations
Answer: My guess is without being able to control the gain (lowering the input level) you will likely get clipping. You need a way to monitor the levels and lower if necessary. It is though all relevant to the volume levels at the concerts and how close you are to the speaker.
Question: Will this work on my iphone 6 with the lifeproof case? this case needs an adapter to plug in the headphones so can't mount to case. please help
Answer: Get a smartphone holder mount (looks like a selfie stick holder that holds the phone) and glue a cold shoe mount to it, then you will able to attach the mic to your phone... I'm not sure about your adapter headphone problem

User questions & answers

Question: does this mic record stereo sound or just mono? and does it let the onboard mic record as well or not
Answer: The microphone is a dual mono microphone and thus not stereo, unless you get into the very expensive stereo microphones I think you'll be pleased with the frequency response and quality. Once plugged in, the on-board microphone is cancelled out.
Question: Can you attach this to a boom pole
Answer: I believe rode sells a boom pole for this mic. You will need an extension cable as well to plug it in.
Question: Does this work with Canon 70d? Thanks
Answer: Yes it does I have the rode mic pro lyre version and it works perfectly I will say if you can afford the pro get it it cause this relies on the power of the camera so the sound isn't as good as the pro
Question: Should I get a used Rode Video Mic Shotgun Microphone or The rode Videomic go? assume I can't go far over 100$ in budget
Answer: Best qualities of the Videomic Go: Small, no battery (powered from the camera), easy to transport. Best qualities of the Rode Videomic over the Videomic Go: Battery powered (better range), high pass filter, PAD switch (for reducing sensitivity on louder recordings). Not having a battery can be nice (using the GO), but the camera you use has to be able to power over the 1/8" mic input. The high pass filter and PAD switch are nice on the Videomic, but not always necessary. If you don't think you'll need them, then the Videomic GO is the way to go.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it work with Android phone (specifically google pixel). What cable do i need to connect to pixel 2 and 3. Pixel 2 does not have audio jack
Answer: yes
Question: Does it come with the fur windshield
Answer: Although it "could" be used in your trailer, I wouldn't recommend it. These batteries are starter batteries and do not have a lot of capacity. You also need to make sure that the charging system is safe for a lithium battery. Please feel free to contact us to discuss this further (484)652-8010 Thank you, Billet Proof Designs
Question: Will this work with other Smartphones besides Apple products
Answer: I have started to have the same issue. Don't know the answer.
Question: Does this come with the charger
Answer: Contrary to what the first answer said, you can charge this battery from 12V. I have the adapter to charge it from a car and it works well. The 110V charger that comes with the battery outputs 13.5V at 6.5A. That's 90W. It charges the battery in about 4 hours. If you can get a solar panel or panels that would output 13.5V, it should work. But the less amperage you have available, the longer it will take to charge the battery. Disclaimer: I haven't tried to do this. YMMV And, BTW, the battery I have has worked well for me.

  • The transducer is suspended inside the microphone using Rycote’s Lyre system, minimizing external vibrations at the capsule level
  • Coated in a durable, military-grade ceramic layer to ensure an extremely hard wearing finish that is resistant to scratches or marks

User questions & answers

Question: Would I need to use Audacity to edit out noise with this mic
Answer: That depends on what you mean. If you mean self noise (electrical noise made by the mic itself.) No. It is an incredibly quiet mic. But it is also a very sensitive one, so if you are not in a quiet environment, it will pick up background noise.
Question: Can the Nt1 act as a boom mic of sorts? (hook straight up to camera/camera mounted, portable, pickup more than a few noises
Answer: The NT1 should not be used as a boom mic. It would cause more problems as a boom mic than is probably worth it. As a studio mic, it has a directional pickup pattern, but the pattern is much more sensitive on its vertical axis. Peter Freedman from RODE made a video on using studio microphones here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOy0EglZPRY. Although he is displaying the NT1-A instead of the NT1, the concept is the same for both. The Rode NTG-2 (as already mentioned) is designed as a shotgun/booming mic.
Question: there was the original nt1 a long while ago, then the nt1-a, then another nt1. which nt1 is this ... the first or second of its name
Answer: I have two of the old NT1s. They look like they were made for Soviet military use and are nearly indestructible. You can find a used one for $100 or less and I highly recommend going that avenue to save money and get the same result.
Question: Will using one of these be good at recording an acoustic grand piano
Answer: This microphone is good for recording pianos and almost any acoustic instruments. For upright pianos, do not put condenser microphones like this in the piano. Put mic. around the player. You will get better result if you remove both top and bottom plate of the piano, so that strings expose. For grand pianos, put mic. around the top end of the open top plate and a few feet away from the piano.

Question: what cable do i need to connect this to a sony ax
Answer: XLR female connector to 3.5mm male connector
Question: will the rhode interview mic fit with to the canon 70d and if so what extra piece will i need to get it to fit
Answer: I don't have a Canon 70D, but I doubt the Rode Reporter Mic will work. It uses an XLR cable and I didn't seen such a connection on the pictures of your camera. I connect my Rode to a Zoom H4N digital recorder. If you could connect a digital recorder to your camera, it might work, but I would think a shotgun mic would work just as well.
Question: Can you connect this microphone to an iPhone for Facebook Live stories
Answer: This requires xlr inputs. You would need a converter cable. It is possible but not out of the box
Question: Would I be able to hook this up to my Canon t3i? And is this good in large crowds/at events? Looking to do interviews at a large outdoors event
Answer: It should work great for you. I've used it for interviews in crowds. Just make sure to get the mic 10-12 inches from the person speaking. I wore headphones to make sure I was had the mic close enough. Its a good mic. Although, I do agree with the other answer below, a H4n will get you better sound than using a 1/8 jack adaptor with the mic and the t3i.
