Example: if you have an m-audio keystation or some other thing like that, you can use 1 cable to track that into your DAW. If you have a synth that has midi, and you want to be able to track that into your DAW, but then play back from the DAW through the real synth, you'll need two cables. |

Considering how this listing indicates this cable as a 5 pin DIN 'connector', it's difficult to say if it has the same pinout as 5 pin DIN, or if it just shares the same connection type. I know for sure it works in situations that involve MIDI though. |
