User questions & answers
Question: | are these as good as GLS |
Answer: | I never used GLS but I know I'm very happy with these I haven't had any breakup or interference issues with home recording and they are very durable and insulated well, so far so good for recording guitar keyboard bass microphone vocals and drums so you should be ok with your purchase the quality and price is great. |
Question: | Noob question will this work on a behringer u-phoria um2 and bm-800 mic? thanks |
Answer: | This is a standard XLR cable. It will connect your mic to your input device. The mic requires "phantom voltage" to be supplied from the input device to the mic. Most Behringer devices will provide this, but double-check to be sure. Bon chance. |
Question: | I have the bm 8000 excelvan along with the behringer um2. I got a xlr to aux that came with the mic to plug directly into my laptop. Will this work |
Answer: | Should plug in just fine. But depending on your set up make sure the length is what you want. For streaming and recording gameplay or general use with discord, ts an so on its fine at 6ft legth. Just depends on your set up. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it possible that this mic cable can make a mic sound bassier? I bought this cable and my voice recordings sound really deep and im not sure if its |
Answer: | I don't think so. This is a quality cable that produces transparent microphone audio signals and frequencies. It is possible that your old cable may be affecting your microphone equalization. That said, make sure that your microphone and mixer/ mike preamplifier impedance and audio signal phasing are correct across your entire system. |
Question: | Is this a aes/ebu cable |
Answer: | No, it's not. It's a standard XLR cable, as it is 16AWG, its heavy for its length and has been very durable. |
Question: | The female connector broke after about 10 uses. Is there anyway to purchase a new head for the connector |
Answer: | Yes you can fix any XLR this way but you do need a to solder the 3 wires back on. Amazon sells both female and male XLR connectors. |
Question: | Is the 16awg on thew whole cable or on each pin in the cable? There are 3 pins in an XLR cable |
Answer: | I haven't taken this apart, but it's been my experience in the past that 16 gage means each wire. Love this company. Quality products for low prices. This works great for me. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm wondering if these can compare to Monster brand cables because the price is really good but I am a little skeptical |
Answer: | These are thick cables i was impressed when i got them |
Question: | Does the cable have 3 wires for ground, positive and negative terminated at the 3-pin |
Answer: | Yes. This is what is known as a balanced cable. As such, it has a ground conductor and two additional conductors that carry the signal. Hence, three wires total. This is standard for professional, low impedance microphones; and interconnections between pro audio equipment such as mixers and power amplifier's. BTW, these are very good, especially considering the price. |
Question: | Why are they called microphone cables? Can I use them for pre-amp to power amp balanced audio interconnects |
Answer: | These are XLR cables. Maybe they called them that because it the one of the most common uses for this type of cable. Either way - They will work to make a balanced connection between 2 pieces of equipment with balanced xlr in/out connections. I use mine to connect a pre amp to an Interface. |
Question: | This is the price for two cables |
Answer: | Yes. 2 cables. Used them this past weekend. Sturdy. Worked fine. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what percent is the shielding on this cable? A picture would be nice if possible |
Answer: | The shielding is 100% coverage!! No way to send a picture to this response!! Very good cable! I own a sound company and make my own cables, I’m doing approx 5 gigs a week and now that I’m making my own cables my cable problem has dropped 99%!! I bought in the passed year 4 rolls of this cable! |
Question: | Can i use this to make 1/8 inch cables |
Answer: | *Sigh* This is bulk cable. You must solder your desired end on the cable (TRS or XLR). I suppose you could solder on an 1/8" (3.5mm) TRS end, but I've never seen those for sale. |
Question: | what is the outer jacket outside diameter |
Answer: | I measured 3/16 inch, manufacture in produced description states 6 mm |
Question: | Surprised that this is not among the questions: What is the shield (foil, braided, twisted, etc |
Answer: | There is a copper braided connector for the ground connections. I've used GLS Audio microphone cable in a professional studio and stage applications for fifteen years. I've never had a single failure or issue. The cable is supple and contains oxygen-free copper. I have no Earthly idea what the other respondent was talking about regarding a shield and being susceptible to noise. That's hogwash. Wire it correctly for balanced applications and this cable is dead quiet. And it's a heck of a lot easier to work with than star-quad. My only concern was shipping weight as GLS Audio was based in California. However, they would have an annual sale where I would buy five 300' spools and get discounted ground shipping. I highly recommend this cable. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it genuine |
Answer: | I own 4, primarily for powered speakers. They are high quality and have worked without problems even with being connected and disconnected repeatedly for playing gigs. |
Question: | Can i take off the female connector and then connects again |
Answer: | Hi Frank,Thank you for your interest in our GLS Audio cables. Both of the XLR connectors are soldered to the cable. If you wanted to remove either of them you would need to de-solder (or cut) the wires from them. The cables have 2 hot wires and a ground shield wire for a total of 3 wires. I'm not sure why you would want to remove either of the ends. If you need a 1/4" on one end then you should buy one of our other cables that have the ends on them that you need. Or if you are trying to solder the cable directly to a patch panel (or something similar) then you could remove either XLR to achieve this. Please be advised that you will need to re-solder the wires if you remove the XLR ends.If you have any questions you can contact us directly at 800-897-8373.Best Regards,Bryan SundaGLS Audio |
Question: | can I use this for condenser mics/ mics that need phantom power |
Answer: | Yes. As far as I know it can. |

Question: | does this cable work with the audio technica 2020 and audio technica |
Answer: | It will work with the 2021 and the standard 2020, but not the USB-model 2020. |
Question: | could i hook these up to my PA speakers Great American DJ brand |
Answer: | It all depends on whether your speakers have a correct input line for XLR cables. Most PA systems have XLR cable inputs. They are 3-pronged input in the shape of small circles.http://www.usa.canon.com/app/html/HDV/XLH1A/images/xlrs.jpg |
Question: | What do these do |
Answer: | These are used to connect a microphone to devices like snakes, mixers, or audio interfaces. They can also be used as an extension cable. I have 6 of them and 2 at 50 feet in length. I've used them for over 4 years in church service and in studio. No problems. Passes great clear sound. |
Question: | How "noisy" or "clean" is this product and how does it compare to higher end cables |
Answer: | I have been using two of these for about 3 years and they have no noise in them. I believe that you can purchase cables that may take more abuse and last longer. I set sound and use these about 40 times a year. They still work well. |

Question: | Don't laugh. i'm 68. how many of these to connect a marantz av8802a with a mm8077? thank you |
Answer: | Looks like the MM8077 have only 7 connections. Therefore, only 7 patch cables? Don't forget the length of each cable. |
Question: | are these (6) one foot cables that equal 6 feet or (6) six foot cables that add up to 36 feet |
Answer: | These are a quantity of 6 cables and each cable is 6 feet in length for a total of 36 feet. |
Question: | Can i connect these cable from my mixer output into my speaker monitors |
Answer: | Do you have XLR outputs on your mixer AND XLR inputs on your speakers? Is either, not both, mixer or speakers powered? Powered monitors or mixers means they include a power amplifier which is necessary to drive speakers, or headphones for that matter. I'm guessing if you're asking this question you have a lot to learn about hooking this stuff up. It's pretty basic. Figure out whether or not you've got a power amplifier in one unit or the other. If not then you're going to have to get one of those. Look at the output jacks on the mixer. Look at the input connections on the speaker (or power amp if needed). The connectors have a good chance of being different from each other. In that case you'll need an adapter cable that fits on both ends. Might be able to find one somewhere or you might have to fashion you own. Good Luck. |
Question: | does it fits for iphone |
Answer: | No these cables will Not fit an Iphone. |

Question: | Will these work with my mixer to 15 Mackie thumps |
Answer: | Thank you! I only have 20 foot cords now. These will help. Will I be able to go from my Thumps to a Behringer Eourolive B208D speaker so I have more sound? |
Question: | Are these also applicable to using from powered speakers to powered speakers or are they only for mic use |
Answer: | It depends on the wire gauge size. 22-24 gauge appear to be used in instrument cables. The larger 12 gauge seems to be used for driving amplified speakers. So I wouldn’t use mic cables if they are similar is wire gauge to instrument cables unless your amplifier is very low power! Maybe could be used for monitors? |
Question: | What gauge is the wiring |
Answer: | 21 Gauge, Most mic cables are. |
Question: | can i use this cable for my mixer main out connection to DSP Processor |
Answer: | These are high quality XLR cables. You shouldn't have any problem with any application that will allow you to use XLR. I would check your DSP information for distance limitations. |
