Vox Guitar Cable: An Overview within the Realm of Instrument Cables
1. Vox Brand: Vox is a renowned name in the world of music equipment. Founded in the early 1960s in the UK, they are best known for their amplifiers, especially the AC30, which was famously used by bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and U2. Beyond amplifiers, Vox has delved into various other music-related equipment, including guitars and accessories such as cables.
2. Importance of Guitar Cables: A guitar cable is crucial for transmitting the sound of an electric or acoustic-electric guitar to an amplifier or a sound system. The quality and construction of the cable can significantly impact the tone and signal strength.
3. Features of Vox Guitar Cables:
Durability: Vox cables are known for their robust construction. This is essential for musicians, as cables are frequently plugged, unplugged, coiled, and subjected to stage rigors.
Quality: The cable's internal components, such as the copper wire and shielding, are designed to ensure a clear signal transfer. This results in minimal noise and interference, allowing for a pure tone.
Connectors: High-quality connectors, often gold-plated, ensure a stable connection and minimal signal loss. These connectors are also designed to withstand repeated usage without degrading in quality.
Aesthetic: Vox often gives attention to the aesthetic appeal of their products. Their cables might feature a vintage look or come in a braided design, aligning with the brand's legacy.
4. Stage & Studio Use:
Live Sound Stage: In a live setting, having reliable cables is crucial. Unwanted noise, signal drop, or cable malfunction during a performance can be disastrous. Vox cables, given their build quality, are trusted by many musicians for live performances.
Studio Recording: In a studio setting, the clarity and fidelity of the sound become even more critical. Vox cables ensure that the guitar's tone is captured as purely as possible, without interference or signal degradation.
5. Comparing with Other Brands: While Vox is a trusted name, the market for instrument cables is vast, with many reputable brands available. Each brand may have its unique features, benefits, and design philosophies. What makes Vox stand out is its combination of legacy, quality, and a nod to the aesthetics that many musicians appreciate.
Conclusion: Vox guitar cables are an extension of the brand's commitment to quality music equipment. While they might carry a premium over some other brands, many musicians find the investment worth it for the reliability and tonal benefits they provide.Whether you're performing live, recording in a studio, or just jamming at home, a good-quality cable like the ones Vox offers can make a difference in your sound.

User questions & answers
Question: | made in USA or China |
Answer: | Don't know but it seems well constructed and works great. |
Question: | can this be used with any other amp brand |
Answer: | Yes. It is a universal standard 1/4 in input guitar cable that can be used with any amp. It has it's drawbacks. It is not 29.5 ft. long. It is, but it is coiled and the coiled length is around 10 ft. It is very heavy for a guitar cable and puts undue stress on the out put jack of the guitar. Unlike straight cables that you can relieve stress by passing it between your strap and endpin, there is not enough straight to do it so it has to hang without support. If you are a sit down player it's fine, if you are a standup player, it can pull out of your output jack on your guitar. Both ends are finished very nicely but it's overall minuses outweigh the plusses. |
Question: | Is this vox cable really a stereo coiled cable as advertised? the tips make it look monorul. if so, does it work in a standard guitar? thanks |
Answer: | To be honest I didn't even know it was stereo coiled. I just bought it for the quality and for the fact that it doesn't stay in the way. It works fine on a guitar, since I believe it was first intended to be a guitar cable. That's what Hendrix used to use. I notice the quality of sound is better and it's louder then a regular guitar cable. I don't know if it has to do with the stereo fact. I'll be getting another one soon and recommend it. hope it helped! Good luck! |
Question: | Does this cable come with the famous vox mesh bag to store it in? i have a black one i bought that did, just checking before i order |
Answer: | Yes, but they're all the same color. I own two of them and I'd like to have a couple more. The cable that is I don't really use the bag. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can coiled cables be used for a bass guitar |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | How long is the cord when fully stretched out |
Answer: | They claim it's 30 feet, and it probably is with straight wire, but the coil takes it down to around 15 ft long, even stretched. My main issue is the weight of the cord, if you don't anchor it behind your strap, it will pull your output jack loose. It's a nice looking cord, but sort of heavy. |

Product description
You will love our PROFESSIONAL SERIES 20 ft Guitar Cables. They have a nice flexible curly jacket (not the stiff plastic jacket like others sell). Our cables have Oxygen-Free Copper for both the center conductor and the insulator shield. Plus our cables are double shielded with a Conductive PVC and OFC Insulator Shield. And most importantly, our cables have an EXTREMELY low Picofarad rating. Have you ever wondered why one guitar cable sounds better than another? They may look the same, but sound totally different? The main reason is the Picofarad rating. Most guitar cables have a high Picofarad rating. Some as high as 200 Picofarads per foot. A cable with a high Picofarad rating is much cheaper to make, and they will still work, but they will not sound as good. Our cables are rated at an EXTREMELY LOW 28 Picofarads per foot (AWESOME). Most guitar cable manufactures will not even give you their rated Picofarads because they are so high. Why would you want to use a cheap cable with a hard plastic cover, no flexibility, and a high Picofarad rating? A good cable is just as important as a good guitar or amp. Our cables have an external rubber heat shrink strain relief, internal rubber booty strain relief, AND an internal metal clamp strain relief. This triple strain relief system allows for many years of trouble free usage.
- High Quality Curly Rubber Jacket - Super Durable & Flexy
- OFC Insulator Shield & Conductive PVC Shield - ONLY 28 Picofarads Per Foot - Extremely Low Capacitance!
- NOTE: 20 Foot Cable Length is Measured BEFORE the Cable is Coiled (This is an industry standard)
- Cable Length When Stretched: 10 Feet (Approximate Max Usable Length)
- Cable Length When Un-Stretched: 4 Feet
User questions & answers
Question: | why has no one bought this cable |
Answer: | I imagine quite a few people have bought it. |
Question: | Is this 2 or 3 wire |
Answer: | 2 |
Question: | What is the wire gauge? What's the diameter of the coil |
Answer: | Not sure of wire gauge, coil is an inch diameter. |
Question: | Does this cable fit a telecaster |
Answer: | Well, the cable is a straight plug on one end and L-shaped on the other end. I use it with a stratocaster. As long as you use the straight end into your tele, and don't mind an L-shaped plug into your amp, you should be fine. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it suitable for other instrument like elec uklele or else |
Answer: | It could sound like both Van Halen and Ozzy’s guitarists...depending on how you use it and with what other effects. It’s the gold standard of classic Phasing for guitarists. |
Question: | Can these be used with a keyboard |
Answer: | The Micro Flanger has a cleaner range. Phasers can dirty up the tone quite a bit. You can also get more of a JC-120, classic chorus sound from a flanger. The Phase 90 has a dramatic effect on the sound where the flanger is quite subtle. Good examples of the Phase 90 being used in songs are Yes "Starship Trooper" or Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage". Flangers like the MXR were commonly used in post-punk, such as the Smiths and the Cure.I hope this description helps. |
Question: | Is the jacket as flexible as rubber |
Answer: | No, this pedal would not be considered to have a true bypass. |
Question: | Can it use for connection from ampliter to wireless microphone |
Answer: | delay time ranges from 25ms to 600ms. |
