| Answer: | There is a WORLD of difference between these flutes and even the entry level Armstrong, starting with durability but extending to tone, embouchure, key action, pads, springs, and serviceability - just to START. The ONLY time spending money on one of these is "worth it" is if there are no other options, in my opinion. Who am I to say so? I have played flute(s) for 46 years in marching bands; concert bands; orchestras; as a soloist & in ensembles; for festivals, weddings, and other events. I was chosen for a prestigious youth symphony, a nationally known marching band, and hired by a pro symphony orchestra at age 20. I have played Artley, Bundy, De Ford, Emerson, Selmer, Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Pearl, Azumi, Yamaha, Muramatsu, Powell and Haynes flutes, in addition to nearly all of the recent Chinese imported brands like Sky, Glory, Mendini, etc. I have also played Artley, Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Jupiter, and Yamaha piccolos (and tried the imports, too). I've taught flute lessons for over 30 years, and I've worked with flute techs, ad by myself, on almost every instrument brand over the last decade. The BIGGEST PROBLEM with cheap,imported flutes is that that are not fixable. Many techs will not work on them. The metal is soft/poor quality. They bend easily and the springs, keys and tome holes do not last. The companies do not stand behind them. (Try returning one for warranty work.) You MIGHT have time to learn the fingering for notes before your flute expires, or if you are exceptional, your instrument may last longer. You are, in my EXPERT opinion, far better off to spend a bit more and get even a USED Armstrong, Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, Emerson, Artley, etc. than to buy one of these. Silver, even plate, sounds MUCH different than "cupronickel metal" colored silver (or something else). A beginner won't hear it. A musician will. |

| Answer: | I bought one and I'm still not sure. I saw a review on youtube with what appears to be the same flute that seems legitimate. I paid just about $500.00 from one of these Amazon merchants and my 4 star verified purchase review is posted. I'm happy with the purchase so far. The flute does have "pointed" rather than "y" key arms and seems quite well made. However I am not a technician or professional musician. I was surprised at the low price compared to "Sam Ash" and "Musicians Friend" pricing at about $1000.00. Authorized dealer carries a 5 years warranty but that doesn't cover pads & springs & corks so I took my chance. By the way after I made my purchase I saw "Flute Center of New York" which is an authorized dealer has the flute priced at $629.00. I might have purchased that one had I done more research and waited. I emailed the serial number to Yamaha and they responded that they don't verify unless purchased from an authorized dealer. I still would like to have the flute I received checked by a Yamaha authorized tech which I may do down the line when it needs maintenance. I would also like to compare the flute I received to a known Yamaha 222. Sorry I can't confirm for sure it's authenticity, Good luck. |

| Answer: | I believe it is a second, but it has something to do with a stamp on it and not the quality of the flute. (When I called the company that is what I was told.) The flute sounds lovely. My daughter's instructor seemed to think it was very nice - she plays for the symphony. We're very happy with it, but for us it is used as a beginner flute. I am no expert! She is 10 and plays it beautifully. |

| Answer: | Sadly, Amazon is NOT an authorized seller of Gemeinhardt flutes & won't be covered by the manufacturers warranty. However, I am sure Amazon offers some sort of coverage, although you'd probably have to pay extra for it. To learn more about their AWESOME instruments, you can check their site out & see what I mean about Amazon not being an authorized seller. However, the prices on Amazon make it very tempting! It was what caught my eye & brought me to check this page. That being said, if you are looking to purchase 1 with all of the protection & surety provided by Gemeinhardt, perhaps it would be safer for you to purchase a flute directly through them. Having played flute for 35 years & having played all sorts of brands from "no-names" (or very cheap ones as can be found here on Amazon for less than $100), Bundy/Selmer, to Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, Armstrong & Altus, I have to admit my favorite flutes & piccolos are made by Gemeinhardt. If you're serious about buying a well made flute & will be devoted to playing it, it's worth the investment to buy it through them. Otherwise, you should perhaps buy a cheap model or seek a used 1 for sale through other ways & means. I hope this clears up everything you & others would want to know. |

| Answer: | **UPDATE**These plugs do fit multiple Amadeus flutes; I have tested them out in the AF600 and AF300 series flutes. The problem that I originally had was that similar plugs from Gemienhardt or Yahama are too small for the open holes on some Amadeus flutes. I haven't tested these on the AF900 series but I assume that these will fit most models of any flute brand due to their larger circumference/diameter. |
