How to Install a Clarinet Reed?

1. Place the thin end of the reed in your mouth to soak or put it into a container of water to soak;

2. Lay the flat side of the reed on the flat side of the mouthpiece;

3. Carefully place the ligature over the reed;

4. Make sure the tip of mouthpiece is almost perfectly even with the tip of reed;

5. Adjust the reed by the sides with your thumb - don't touch the tip;

6. Tighten the screws firmly to make sure the ligature can not slide off, but not too tight.

Warm Tips

1. Reeds work best when they are wet, soak it before the installation;

2. Take care when you install or place it, if the tip is broken or curved, the reed can't be used again.

3. After each use, it's suggested to be gently washed with the water and absorbed the rest water with paper, put it in the ventilation and store it the case.

Question:	My daughter uses 2.5 in regular reeds and she is planning to move up to 3.0 with regular. However, with the V12 is it better to get
Answer:	The strength of the reed you buy should be based on the comfortability of the person who is playing and the range they are playing in. The higher the strength of the reed, the more air you need to push to make a great sound and in turn, the higher the range of notes you can play in. However, if you are switching from a 2.5 strength reed, I would recommend playing on a 3 strength reed before you move on to a 3.5 strength reed for a better understanding of how it feels in that strength.
Question:	Is 3 1/2+ the same as
Answer:	In my experience as a Music Education Major, 3 1/2 plus can range between 3 1/2 and a 4. I play on 3 1/2+ during the summer and 3 1/2 during the cooler season. I find that about half of them are closer to a 4 and half are closer to a 3 1/2. I save the harder reeds for summer and play the softer ones during the fall. I usually buy 3 1/2 when we are going into our colder months and then I buy 3 1/2+ when we are going into our hotter months. (I buy a box of 10 reeds a month)

It says on the envelope that is was manufactured expressly for D'Addario. I've ordered the Boveda cheaper replacements, so I will see how close a fit they are.
