10 best spectrum electric guitar strings
Spectrum is a brand that offers a range of musical instrument accessories, including electric guitar strings. Here's what you might find with Spectrum electric guitar strings:
Material: Spectrum electric guitar strings are typically made from a steel alloy, which is the most common material for electric guitar strings. This material provides a bright and clear tone.
Variety of Gauges: They often come in a variety of gauges (thicknesses). Lighter gauges provide a brighter tone and are easier to bend, while heavier gauges offer a fuller sound and are more durable.
Coating: Some Spectrum strings may feature a coating, such as nickel-plating or a layer of polymer, to enhance their lifespan and protect against corrosion from sweat and environmental factors.
String Winding: They may be available in different winding styles, such as roundwound, flatwound, or halfwound. Each winding style affects the feel and sound of the strings.
Tone and Sound Quality: The specific tone and sound quality of Spectrum electric guitar strings can vary depending on factors like material, gauge, and winding style. Some players prefer brighter tones, while others may favor warmer or mellower tones.
Longevity and Durability: The longevity of Spectrum strings can vary depending on factors like playing style, frequency of use, and environmental conditions. Coated strings tend to last longer due to their protective layer.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that the strings are compatible with the type of electric guitar you have, as different guitars may have different scale lengths and may require specific string lengths.
Packaging: Spectrum electric guitar strings are typically sold in sets, which include multiple strings of different gauges to accommodate different positions on the guitar.
Price Range: Spectrum electric guitar strings are generally in the mid-range in terms of pricing, making them an accessible option for a wide range of players.
Remember, specific details about individual models, coatings, or availability may vary, so it's always a good idea to check the manufacturer's website or trusted retailers for the most up-to-date information.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these work with a First Act electric guitar |
Answer: | If it's an electric guitar with magnetic pickup in the usual places, then they'll work just fine. I never heard of "First Act" guitars though. |
Question: | Do they have these in acoustic |
Answer: | No. Not yet. |
Question: | Would these be okay for a Harmony acoustic electric guitar and what gauge strings |
Answer: | Typically for an acoustic guitar you want acoustic strings, commonly phosphor bronze. These are for an electric guitar and have an unwound fourth string. They can be used in any guitar if you choose. I would suggest 11's on the light and up to 13's. I typically use 12's in my acoustic guitars |
Question: | At what point on the size scale does the 3-string (G) become a wound string? Individual string dimension should be stated in the specs |
Answer: | Usually a wound 3rd is clearly stated on strings packaging, as that is a salient feature. You will find this often in electric sets 12-52, usually labelled "Heavy" or "Jazz." In most cases the wound G string starts at .021 or .022, but I've seen sets that wind the g at .018-.019. I know this is more general info and not related to Elixir, but I'm guessing it applies to their strings, too. |

Made For Musicians Who Just Want To Play More Music
Ever since pioneering coated string technology in 1997, our reason for making premium guitar strings has remained simple we want you to have more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes. And gig after gig, session after session, lesson after lesson, we’ve delivered. In fact, experienced players worldwide trust our corrosion-defying strings to keep their tone longer than other brand’s coated or uncoated strings.*
We now offer two premium electric guitar string options, each featuring our patented coating technology, to help you find exactly the tone and feel you’re looking for. Thanks to the unique differences between coatings, we offer a long-lasting set for any style. From bright and vibrant to warm and robust, the dynamic range of available sound is yours for the picking. Of course, finding the string that’s right for you is a matter of personal preference. So try them out for yourself.

Less Sweat, Debris, And Finger Squeak
The way your strings sound has a lot to do with what you normally can’t see. While both of our patented coatings reduce noisy finger squeak, they also cut down on a large number of other pesky annoyances common to your average uncoated string. Sweat, skin, dirt, and even air, for example, can do a lot of damage to your strings. And if you live in a hot, humid area, the moisture in the atmosphere can wreak total havoc on your strings’ tone life. But with Elixir Strings, you’re getting world-class protection that’s engineered to endure.
Polyweb Coating Vs NANOWEB Coating
POLYWEB Coating was our first coated string innovation all the way back in the '90s. It tends to warm and mellow the string’s tone and has a fast, slick feel that’s gentle on the fingers, which lets players keep jamming without the strings getting in the way. As a response to players who said they prefer a more traditional feel, NANOWEB Coating was then designed. This ultra-thin coating allows a brighter, crisper tone while offering the same amount of tone-life protection as its predecessor.
Coated Like No Other
Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. That’s why Elixir strings retain their tone longer than any other brand’s string, coated or uncoated. Simply put, build-up and corrosion kill your tone, and Elixir strings protect against elements that cause build-up and corrosion. All while sounding exactly how you’d expect a premium set of strings to sound.
Anti-Rust Plating
Corrosion protection between wrap wire windings is all well and good, but you may be asking yourself, “What about the strings that don’t have a wrap wire?” And we’re proud to tell you, don’t worry we’ve got those covered too. Literally. With our signature Anti-Rust Plating, even your plain steel strings defy the elements. This ensures longer tone life not just for your coated wound strings, but for your entire set. When we say you’ll have more gigging, jamming, touring, or practice time between string changes, we mean it.

Question: | are these high tension strings |

Question: | How honorable is this seller? bought these as backup few months ago, last night I went to string, uh they sent medium gauge + 2 strings were missing |
Answer: | Hi Paris, yes you can heat this in hot water. Do not put it in boiling water as previous mentioned, for you don't want to damage or overheat the wrap. But it should be fine to heat in hot water. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to assist you further. Thanks! |
Question: | Are these particular strings for a full size 22 fret electric guitar |
Answer: | We never needed to heat it. We only used it for (doctor recommended) cold therapy, but warm water sounds like a logical way to heat it. |
Question: | Does the color of the strings match the colors on Rocksmith |
Answer: | I believe it would be considered moist heat. I only tried it for cold therapy. Unfortunately it did not stay cold very long, so I returned it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does D'addario have heavy gauge strings for a 7 string? I really liked the extra heavy 12/60 strings for my 6 strings, do you have that for a 7 string |
Answer: | You should look into ghs boomers. They have some heavy sets. |
Question: | Are these strings coated? The "XL" implies so |
Answer: | NYXL strings are not coated, and XL is just a product series/family name, which does not imply any specific product specs. - Steve @ D'Addario |
Question: | So what do you Blues players have to say about these strings |
Answer: | Depends on the type of blues you play.... If you lean more toward "Delta", you probably wont like these much 'cause they give you more bottom end and highs and get rid of that muddy low-mid much sought-after in that style. Otherwise, many of us who pursue the more recent guitar gods (aka Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Page, etc.) will probably find these strings to be a nice "push" - to some, it will be like adding well-needed air to a deflating balloon. |
Question: | What is thw difference between Balanced and Not Balanced versions |
Answer: | In producing a Balanced Tension set, D'Addario has attempted to make the string tension of all six strings as equal as possible. The benefit to the play is that pressing on one string feels essentially the same as pressing on any other string. This is especially important for string-bending. Once you learn how much pressure is necessary to bend one string to increase the pitch 1/2 step (for example), the same pressure will increase the pitch 1/2 step on any other string. |
