Answer:	The indentations underneath the head act as hooks and keep the anchor loops in place. As long as you have tension on the loops, and ideally drive them into the ground angled slightly away from the tent, they hold fine. I've used them for the last couple years mostly in the soft dirt of redwood forest floors and haven't had any issues with the anchor loops slipping out.
Question:	How well does the cutter work on guitar strings
Answer:	They can definitely be frail, we bent several of them using the rock method when we couldn't find our mallet. I would use a mallet or your shoe to push them in. Better yet, go get the 12 in ABS plastic ones, we purchased those after these and they are beasts. They can be hard to get out of the ground so definitely use a stake puller (can be purchased for only a few dollars online or at a regular store) but that is a good thing, means it wont pull up and have your tent fly away in windy conditions! These have been retired to our backup pile for emergency uses only.

Question:	Does it come with the picks
Answer:	Yes it does. It is so small, you can clamp it on the breadstick in between the tuners. It actually has a lower profile than most tuning pegs.
Question:	Does it work for Bass
Answer:	Yes. It will register any note that you play whether fretted or not. You can lightly touch a string at the 12th fret so it rings when plucked without pushing it against the fret and compare it to the note you get when you push the string down at the 12th fret. This shows you how close your intonation is. Bear in mind that fretted instruments are tempered scales. This means that some notes are more in tune than others and people who really care tune their instruments to the key that they are playing in. If you want a precision tuner to set the accurate intonation for each string, get a better tuner but this one will get you close.
