12 best dunlop electro acoustic guitars

Dunlop is a renowned manufacturer of musical instrument accessories, including guitar strings and picks. While Dunlop is more widely recognized for its accessories rather than complete guitars, they do offer a range of products that can enhance the performance and sound of electro-acoustic guitars. Here's what you need to know about Dunlop electro-acoustic guitar-related accessories:

  1. Acoustic Guitar Strings: Dunlop produces a variety of acoustic guitar strings suitable for electro-acoustic guitars. These strings are crafted with precision and come in different materials (such as bronze, phosphor bronze, and coated options) and gauges to suit various playing styles and tonal preferences. Dunlop strings are known for their durability and excellent tone.

  2. String Gauges: Dunlop offers a range of string gauges to cater to different playing styles and preferences. Lighter gauges are easier on the fingers and may produce a brighter tone, while heavier gauges offer more volume and sustain.

  3. Coated Strings: Dunlop's coated strings are designed to resist corrosion and extend string life. These strings can maintain their tone and playability for a more extended period, making them a popular choice for many acoustic guitarists.

  4. String Materials: Dunlop offers strings made from various materials, such as phosphor bronze and nickel, each contributing to a distinct tone. Phosphor bronze strings, for example, are known for their warm and balanced sound.

  5. Picks: Dunlop is well-known for its guitar picks, which are available in a wide range of materials, shapes, and thicknesses. Guitarists can choose from options like nylon, Tortex, Ultex, and more to achieve the desired tone and feel.

  6. Capos: While Dunlop is not primarily known for capos, they do offer a range of capo models that can be used on acoustic guitars. A capo is a useful accessory for changing the pitch of the strings and playing in different keys.

  7. Maintenance Tools: Dunlop produces guitar maintenance tools like string winders and string cutters, which can make changing strings and performing basic guitar maintenance tasks more convenient.

It's important to note that Dunlop is primarily known for its accessories, including strings and picks, rather than complete electro-acoustic guitars. When choosing Dunlop products for your electro-acoustic guitar, be sure to consider your playing style, tonal preferences, and the specific needs of your instrument.Experimenting with different string materials and gauges can help you achieve the desired sound and playability for your electro-acoustic guitar.

User questions & answers

Question: can i use this on a electric guitar
Answer: Yes, these picks can be used on any electric or acoustic guitar.
Question: How many picks do you get when you order these picks
Answer: It all depends on which package you buy. Seriously! These come in two different packs. Search for ASIN B0002D0CHQ and you will see all the thicknesses available as well as BOTH packs. The ones that are 44P1.0 are Player packs while 44R1.0 are REFILL packs. The Player Packs are 12 (in this case) while the Refill Packs are 72 (again, in this case). TRhe number of picks per package varies across the product line with Dunlop.
Question: Is the gripping surface on both sides of the picks or just one
Answer: I have been using these picks for years and swear by them. They have gripping on both sides for those sweaty sessions or practically any situation. These are the best.
Question: What is the difference between the nylon .60 44R versus 44P
Answer: The 44R is a REFILL bag -- LOTS of picks. The 44P is a PLAYERS pack or a small number of picks. This designation is true for ALL the Dunlop picks. Want a lot?? Get the "R" packs. Just a few?? Get the "P" packs. The picks are exactly the same in all cases.

Jim Dunlop Nylon Picks

Jim Dunlop rewrote the book on pick-making with his Nylon Pick line, giving players more options and more confidence when choosing their picks. Jim created six gauges instead of the limited and vaguely defined Light, Medium, and Heavy popular at the time. Labeled by thickness from 38mm to 1mm, this gave players twice as many gauges and the confidence that they knew what they were getting.

Based on 444 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Performance+ Strings are designed with you in mind. They strike the perfect balance between tension and flexibility and project the full tonal complement of the electric guitar. Whatever your style and whatever your rig, Performance+ Strings give you what you need to focus on the music. As with everything we make, we started from scratch and designed Dunlop Strings from the ground up to fit our vision of what a string should be. Each of our formulas is developed with on-the-road feedback from some of the greatest players in the world. At our headquarters in Benicia, California, we take a hands-on approach, running our machines at a slower pace and producing smaller batches, which allows us much more control at every step of the process. We also seal them in a protective bag for freshness and longevity. Every set of Dunlop Strings is the result of our obsession with details, which is ultimately an obsession with quality, consistency, and serving your needs as a player. Inside each pack of Dunlop Strings is more than 50 years of deep knowledge and experience gained from working with guitar players to further their playing experience. Made in the USA.

  • Performance+ Strings strike the perfect balance between tension and flexibility and project the full tonal complement of the electric guitar
  • 6 sets of strings per box
  • Nickel wound electric guitar strings
  • Gauge: . 010-. 046
  • Designed and manufactured in the USA

User questions & answers

Question: I ordered these but it only came with just 3 of the 6th string. Is this normal
Answer: You should receive an outer box with three inner boxes, each of which should be a complete set of strings, which for this set is one each of Gauges: .010, .013, .017, .026, .036, .046. You need to contact the seller that sent this to you for a fix. Frankly, in my experience, that sounds like something that would come from the Amazon Outlet store of "like new", "box may be damaged" stuff that almost NEVER seems to have what is supposed to be there...………………….

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used for acoustic guitar
Answer: They are made for a classical guitar but if one is learning and does not have callouses then it can be used on a "steel string standard " guitar / just nylon instead of steel
Question: Is all 6 string nylon
Answer: All classical guitar sets have 3 metal wound strings that are metal wound around nylon, and 3 all nylon strings. The bass strings are the ones that are metal wrapped. If you have a classical guitar then you need classical guitar strings for it. If you use standard strings on a classical guitar you will break the guitar.
Question: strings are advertised silver wound - but only three of the six are wound
Answer: Yes the 6 5 and 4th are wound as are all classical strings. 3 2 and 1st are not. These are very good strings I highly recommend them
Question: New to classical gauges. Which strings are which, as in which string is low E, A, D, G, B, High E
Answer: The string configuration is not different from other guitar strings. The heaviest is the low E and the lightest gauge is the high E.

User questions & answers

Question: Do these have a ball end
Answer: No ball on the end ( which always indicates a better quality string )
Question: Strings numbers? Is 43 the 6th string? 40 the fifht? 35 the fourth? 32 the third? 29 the second? And 28 the first
Answer: You must be careful here! Paul Johnston and W.B. Kennedy's answers are not completely correct. The Dunlop strings I purchased are NOT labeled as to pitch, only "thickness" or "gauge" via a number on the envelope. Here's the correct correspondence: High E = "28" or ca. 0.028 B = "32" or ca. 0.032 G = "40" or ca. 0.040 D = "29" or ca. 0.029 A = "35" or ca. 0.035 Low E = "43" or ca. 0.043 So, label the envelopes, and remove the strings from their envelopes one at a time, or you'll be lost! Remember that the lower strings are wound in silver wire.

User questions & answers

Question: Are these made with Polyoxymethylene, or inferior quality material
Answer: This is what Dunlop has on their site. "From warmer materials such as Nylon to brighter materials such as Ultex, this pack has all you need to refine your unplugged sound." for more information you would have to contact Dunlop directly. Since Amazon would delete their phone number and website info you will need to fill in the blanks. It's a dot communication starting with jimdunlop.
Question: What types of picks are included
Answer: If you look at the second image -- the back of the pack -- the picks are listed there. If you are using a so-called "smart" device you may need to go to an actual computer to get that image. The third image is a picture of the actual picks included. I can't "cut and paste" the list unfortunately.

User questions & answers

Question: what are the exact numerical stiffnesses of these picks? It doesn't state anywhere on this product page what they are
Answer: They are rated in thickness, not stiffness. This is a variety pack. Buy it and see what thickness / style you like. You could measure numerical stiffness once you buy them. Apply a known load and measure the deflection. Stiffness is Force divided by deflection
Question: Buying my first bass... Are any of these good (thickness etc) for use on a bass guitar
Answer: Would be a great pack to start with. Bass picks dont have to he hard. This pack will give you lots of options, and there are a few hard ones in there.

User questions & answers

Question: Will it work with ukuleles
Answer: Yes this product will. It is probably the most versatile piece of equipment you will ever own.I bought a sheet of 1/2 " plywood and cut off a side to a width of 24" wide by 36" long . Then I took a scrap piece of 2"X4" to a width of 24" and screwed it to the very end of the piece of plywood which gave me a work table for changing strings, etc. On the other side, I bought an exercise mat, which is a strong foam material at Walmart and some contact cement and cut the mat to the same size as the mat and glued the mat to the sheet of plywood, and wa-lah...a cheap work table for changing strings, soldering wires, changing out pickups or anything you want to do to your guitar. Yes, this is money well spent and should fit any size neck for any instrument that has a playing neck. Also this cradle will help stop the instrument from wanting to rock from side to side.
Question: This is appropriate for les paul, prs, and fender electric guitars that are in my collection
Answer: Yes it is, I have fender and prs guitars. It also works with acoustic guitars.
Question: Will this work for a mandolin
Answer: I do not own a mandolin but the part that cradle's the neck of the instrument swivels so I do not see why it would not work for you. The angle which the body sits on the surface may be different so I wouldn't definitely have something in place to protect your instrument's finish. Good luck!
Question: Is this wide enough for a 7 string Ibanez
Answer: Yes it is. I've used it on a 7-String Jackson with a wide neck and there's no problem. I've also used it on a bass guitar.

User questions & answers

Question: will this work for large fender bass tuners
Answer: Don't think so. While this is a fine tuner I don't see how it could fit over the bass peg, lining up to easily turn the peg. There is another tuner available that has slots open on both sides of the key body, allowing it to fit over a large/wide peg. Look for that. (It's blue in color. BTW: I'm not associated with any manufacturer, and don't recommend that tuner over this one, one way or another, so, buyer beware).
Question: Does this fit on classical guitars
Answer: Fits on tenor guitar pegs, so probably any guitar pegs. Typical shapes. It's the atypical shape of the peghead that might be a problem. Not so much the size. Although I suspect it is way too small for bass guitar pegs. But treble instruments with typical pegs, probably yes to most.
Question: Does it have a cutter to cut the new string excess
Answer: No I just use wire cutters
Question: would this work on the baritone ukulele
Answer: Yes. Easily. Also a tenor guitar. Tenor and concert ukuleles too. Don't own a soprano, but probably works on it too. On no-magic, run-of-the-mill pegheads.
