14 best string swing banjos
A string swing banjo hanger is an accessory designed to securely hold and display a banjo on a wall or another vertical surface. Here is some information about string swing banjo hangers and their use:
Design and Construction: String swing banjo hangers are typically made of durable materials like metal, wood, or plastic. They consist of a horizontal hanger with a curved or padded section that cradles the banjo's neck and headstock. The hanger is attached to a vertical wall mount.
Wall Mounting: These hangers are designed to be attached to a wall using screws or other mounting hardware. They are positioned at a suitable height to safely hold the banjo and allow for easy access.
Banjo Protection: String swing banjo hangers often have protective padding on the neck cradle and headstock support to prevent scratches or damage to the instrument's finish.
Space-Saving Solution: Banjo hangers are popular among musicians who want to save floor space and display their instruments as decorative pieces. They keep the banjo securely suspended, reducing the risk of accidental damage.
Easy Accessibility: By mounting the banjo on a wall hanger, musicians can have quick and convenient access to their instrument. This is especially useful for musicians who frequently play their banjos or want them within easy reach for practice.
Versatility: String swing banjo hangers are designed to accommodate various banjo sizes and styles, making them suitable for different types of banjos, including 4-string, 5-string, tenor, and plectrum banjos.
Installation: Installing a banjo hanger typically involves finding a suitable location on the wall, ensuring it is securely attached to wall studs or using appropriate anchors, and then hanging the banjo on the hanger.
Aesthetic Appeal: Many musicians appreciate banjo hangers for their aesthetic value. They can showcase the beauty of the banjo as a decorative piece on the wall when not in use.
Additional Uses: While designed for banjos, these hangers can often be used to display other stringed instruments like guitars, mandolins, or ukuleles, provided they are compatible with the hanger's design and weight capacity.
Maintenance: Banjo hangers typically require minimal maintenance, but it's essential to periodically check the hanger's attachment to the wall and ensure that the banjo remains securely fastened.
String swing banjo hangers are a practical and attractive solution for banjo enthusiasts who want to keep their instruments safe, accessible, and on display. They can also contribute to the overall aesthetics of a music room or studio while preserving valuable floor space.

User questions & answers
Question: | How do I remove a mount from a wall? I just want to move it too a different location |
Answer: | As the other poster said, the mount is held to the wall with two screws, accessible from the front. When you mount it in the new location, make sure you mount it so the screws go directly into a stud or alternatively use heavy duty wall anchors. Banjos are heavy! |
Question: | Does this need support from the bottom? Will it get stress fractures just being hung by the neck |
Answer: | No I don't believe support from the bottom is necessary at all. I hang my 5 string resonator banjo on it and have for a couple of years now with no issues what so ever. Just be sure when attaching it to the wall you screw into something quite solid such as a wall stud that will to support the weight of your banjo. |
Question: | What’s the difference between the banjo hanger and their guitar hanger? We are getting a banjo and have an extra guitar hanger from string swing |
Answer: | The banjo hanger has a narrow cradle to support the banjo by the headstock instead of the tuners. Also it is made of a larger diameter steel rod to support the extra weight of the banjo. |
Question: | What is the weight rating fro this hanger? My banjo weighs almost 25 pounds |
Answer: | In our experience we have not found any banjo's over 14lbs, so we rated the hanger at 15lbs. You could use our BCC15W-FW to display it horizontally with a rating of 30lbs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do they make this with black arms |
Answer: | Am sure somebody did make a black version of it . |
Question: | Will this work for a banjo with planetary tuners? Do the tuners rest of the supports |
Answer: | It should work. The banjo we have has the same tuners. The tuners do not rest on the supports. |
Question: | Has anyone tried this with a telecaster |
Answer: | It is capable of handling a telecaster by weight, but the holder would probably have a really tight fit. A CC01K, which is the guitar version of this hanger, would probably be what you're looking for. Search for it by ASIN: B0002GLCRC. You will find many customer photos of telecasters hanging on that item. |
Question: | How far apart are the hanger prongs? (from center of prong from front |
Answer: | 2" center to center, and the same on the uke/mandolin hanger. The foam is thinner on the uke hanger, but I use them interchangeably. The pocket is 3" deep, and there is NOT enough room to hang 2 instruments face to face. Pocket on the uke hanger is 2" deep. The string swing is better than the FretRest, IMHO |

Question: | Would you recommend this hanger for a mandolin also |

Question: | Say you bought this by accident for an acoustic guitar. Will it hold |
Answer: | Yes, it's sturdy. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I prefer these over the wide guitar mounts they seem more secure, I'm concerned about wall clearance all of my guitars are acoustic will they work |
Answer: | Yes, there is plenty of space for acoustics, i found my acoustics tend to hang with the bottom end hanging forward a bit so they don't hang totally straight. (must be some kind of weight balancing thing). You could also get the bumper accessory sold by string swing, or stick a piece of rubber/foam behind the guitar on the wall if you have concerns, I have the bumper but my acoustics don't even touch them when hanging on the mounts. |
Question: | Can this be mounted on drywall and support the weight without problema? I have a ibanez |
Answer: | Yes. I actually have the heavier bass guitar version. The included drywall anchors are fine. |
Question: | does this hold a gibson les paul custom 9 pounds |
Answer: | I've got an all mahogany les paul ( I believe custom's are all mahogany? ) on mine for over a year now. The guitar is pretty heavy but the hanger has been stable. I would not trust it without attaching the hanger to a stud though. I've got 4 of these now and all are attached to studs. |
Question: | How wide is it between the prongs? I'm trying to hang a sitar with a slightly wider neck than a guitar |
Answer: | The prong is 2 inches wide at the narrowest point. The widest point--at the top--is about 2.33 inches wide |

Question: | Does anyone know the size of the drywall anchor that’s included in the packaging? I moved and have to buy new ones. Thanks |
Answer: | I would use the Steinbach Self Drilling drywall anchors if I were you. They are very stable, can hold a lot weight, and I won't use anything else to hang my guitars. |
Question: | Do the hangers unscrew and the plate stay on wall? for easy removal of hanger part |
Answer: | No, once hanger is on wall it stays there. There are moly's into dry wall or screws directly into wood surface. Good product. I have them everywhere... |
Question: | does it come with the screws |
Answer: | Yeah it comes with the screws and drywall anchors and the arms are asjustable |
Question: | I just bought a heavy LP. (10 lbs) I have it hung up with the anchors that came with the holder. Should I be afraid to leave it hanging |
Answer: | No you'll be just fine trust me I have an Epiphone EB3 which weighs about 14.5 lbs and a 10 lb telecaster on this you're good. |

Question: | Will this work for a smaller violin scale like 1/10 or 1/32? I'm looking for a wall mount for my preschool classroom. Thanks |
Answer: | This holder should work just fine as long as your instrument isn't drastically smaller than a normal violin. You may also want to look at the ukulele holder as that fits smaller instruments as well. |
Question: | If I purchase more than one at the same time, can you guarantee that they will all be the same wood/color? Don't care what color wood |
Answer: | Unfortunately, on this Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) there is no guarantee on what wood color you may receive. Its a circumstance that we as a Seller have no control over due to the way this original ASIN was set-up long ago. If you want a specific color and all of them to match, type these ASIN (numbers) in the search field on Amazon depending on which wood you want: B00HXMOBW6 for Cherry, B00CRQ0AD2 for Oak, B005ZOF2W2 for Ash and B00F1WLBTG for Black Walnut.String Swing hangers are proudly made in the USA and guaranteed for life when you buy from an Authorized Retailer like EZPICKN, unfortunately some of the Sellers on Amazon are not. Its simple to protect yourself, simply go to the store locator at the String Swing website to verify you are buying from an Authorized Retailer.Your Friends at EZPICKN |
Question: | Will this hang a 5-string electric violin? (Vector Prodigy 5-string) It doesn't have a normal scroll and the neck is wider |
Answer: | I have the music stand version of this hanger and a Yamaha YEV 105 5-string violin. At first it didn't want to go in, but if you grab both of the arms and pull them apart like a wishbone, it will give just enough to allow the neck to fit in...and if you go too far you can push them back together. Use some finesse, don't KONG it, pull a little and check for fit...then repeat if needed. |
Question: | My husband has a cello, would this hanger hang cello safely |
Answer: | I don't know but my guess would be no as the neck of a cello is much larger than that of violin. Also, the cello is a lot heavier so you would need to have a pretty solid wall to hang it anywhere. I think it would be better to get a floor stand like: http://www.amazon.com/Ingles-Adjustable-Cello-Bass-Stand/dp/B002Q0WSOI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390678561&sr=8-1&keywords=cello+standGood luck!Glen |

User questions & answers
Question: | how long will the plastic hook last for |
Answer: | These are not fully plastic. The base is wood and the rods are metal covered with a rubber/non-slip. There is plastic but it's not in the heavy wear areas, just the tips of the rods and near the wood base. We have used ours heavily for 6 months without any complications, concerns or having to reset anything. My guess, with heavy use 7-9 years but maybe longer. These are very sturdy and work well. We have a mandolin on one which will probably last longer because it's not as heavy as our guitars. These hooks are a great buy! |
Question: | What material is the stand made of |
Answer: | Thanks. it is made of black walnut. There are 3 pieces guitar hanger. |
Question: | What size hole do you need to drill for the anchor |
Answer: | I did not use the plastic anchors and will not use them from any company, unless you are hanging a light acoustic guitar. If you are hanging an acoustic in drywall, the hole size is something you can adjust. Start with a drill bit about 1/2 the size of the anchor and drill a hole. If you cannot push the anchor all the way in (with moderate force) until the little collar on the anchor rests against the wall, go to the next size drill bit and enlarge the hole slightly. Repeat this process until moderate force allows you to seat the anchor to the wall. For heavy electric guitars I either go to a hardware store and buy screws that will fit the holes in the plaque and are long enough to reach the studs behind the drywall, or I mount a board to the wall and screw the supplied screws directly into the board I mounted on the wall. I am not comfortable mounting any of this type hanger with plastic anchors. There is a lot of pull-out force applied to the upper anchor when you hang a guitar on an arm extending out from a small plaque of wood like that. |
Question: | what is the width where guitar neck rests |
Answer: | I have a Zager guitar (ie) wide neck) and it fits fine. |
