10 best guitar parts necks

The neck of an electric guitar is a crucial component that plays a significant role in the instrument's playability and tone. Here is what you need to know about guitar necks:

  1. Materials: Guitar necks are typically made from various types of wood, with the most common choices being maple and mahogany. Maple necks are known for their bright and snappy tones, while mahogany necks tend to produce warmer and richer tones.

  2. Neck Shape: Guitar necks come in various shapes, such as C-shape, V-shape, U-shape, and more. The shape of the neck affects how it feels in your hand and can impact your playing style.

  3. Fingerboard: The fingerboard, also known as the fretboard, is attached to the neck. It is usually made of a different type of wood than the neck itself. Rosewood and ebony are common choices for fingerboards. The fingerboard features frets, which are the metal strips embedded in the wood to produce different pitches when you press the strings against them.

  4. Scale Length: The scale length is the distance between the nut (at the top of the neck) and the bridge of the guitar.Electric guitars typically have scale lengths ranging from 24 to 25.5 inches. The scale length affects the tension and feel of the strings.

  5. Number of Frets: The number of frets on a guitar neck can vary, but most electric guitars have 21, 22, or 24 frets. More frets allow for higher notes to be played.

  6. Inlays: Inlays are decorative markers on the fingerboard that help players identify specific fret positions. They can be made of materials like mother-of-pearl or synthetic materials and come in various shapes and designs.

  7. Truss Rod: Inside the neck, there is often a truss rod, which is an adjustable metal rod. This rod allows you to adjust the curvature or "relief" of the neck, helping you control the action and playability of the guitar.

  8. Nut: The nut is a small piece at the top of the neck that guides the strings to their respective tuning pegs. It also helps determine the spacing of the strings and their height above the fretboard.

  9. Headstock: The headstock is the top part of the neck that holds the tuning pegs. It may have a unique shape and design depending on the guitar's brand and model.

  10. Finish: The neck can have different finishes, such as gloss or satin. The choice of finish affects the feel of the neck and the player's grip.

  11. Neck Joints: Electric guitars can have various types of neck joints, including bolt-on, set neck, and neck-through construction. The neck joint influences how the neck is attached to the guitar body, which can impact sustain and accessibility to higher frets.

In summary, the neck of an electric guitar is a vital component that contributes to the instrument's playability, tone, and overall feel. Different neck materials, shapes, and features cater to a wide range of playing styles and preferences, allowing musicians to find the perfect guitar neck for their needs.

User questions & answers

Question: will it fit a fender bass
Answer: I built a Strat using a swamp ash body and all rosewood neck - no skunk stripe. I was going for that 50's look/sound. I went with the '59's to help that process along. They sound really nice on a clean setting, that's what their for - like what you would expect for a little Texas blues, but I like a little dirt too = distortion and that's where these fall short. They're not designed for that so much. I left the Mid & Neck alone but I changed out my bridge to a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 and never looked back! But I'm playing Priest/Maiden/Rush. For you they should be a nice set - IF you need a little dirt - I would recommend a Seymour Duncan quarter Pounder, OR The SSL-3 in the bridge to get you up & over. You can go on his site and do a listen demo, Good luck:)
Question: which neck plate fits a 2005 standard strat? The Fender or the F
Answer: If your guitar uses single coil pickups it will fit perfectly, also they sound amazing!!
Question: how is it?Does it work well
Answer: They will fit well. May need to use the old screws depending on what’s included. Don’t remember but sometimes the screw heads have a different shape. These are fairly bright sounding pickups. In general I prefer the sound of the less expensive fender tex mex pickups, but we all have different preferences.
Question: Is this a steel (heavy) neck plate or one of the newer, lightweight (aluminum?) products
Answer: Yes, I actually put mine in a $100 fender Starcastor and they work brilliantly. Also, it may be a bit pricy, but if you don't know how to wire them up I would suggest going to a music store like a Sam Ash or a guitar center to get them installed.

Question: Whats the distance of the holes
Answer: 24 fret
Question: Does this come with screws or not. It says that does and that it does not
Answer: I used the one I bought on a Double Cutaway LP . you should know and understand the difference between bolt on and glued on. If the pocket on the body is flat it's a bolt on, if it is slotted its glue in. This particular check is bolt on. Most Led Paul bodies have glue in, but a Double Cutaway or an SG often has bolt on.
