  2. Design: Oasis offers various types of guitar humidifiers, including soundhole humidifiers and case humidifiers. They are typically made of materials that slowly release moisture into the guitar's environment over time.

User questions & answers

Question: Which strings are best to put it between? Seems like I have to bend them a fair amount. Overall nice design
Answer: I put it between the d and g strings. I use my thumb and index fingers on my left hand to push the stings apart. Set the oasis where flat piece rests on the sthings then gently release the stings on the fill cap. Reverse to remove. Use it for 8 years. No problems.
Question: How does it work when I use with guitar stand
Answer: It will stay in place if that is what you are wanting to know. I keep my guitars in the case when humidity is low, but I store the cases standing up and the humidifier works fine.

User questions & answers

Question: does this come with the syringe or do I have to buy that separate
Answer: The initial purchase comes with the humidifier already loaded with the proper amount of crystals and the syringe. So you get all you need for your first season. If you buy the Oasis refill crystals, you get several seasons worth of crystals along with a little spoon and another syringe. Soon, you'll have quite a collection of syringes.
Question: Would it damage Acoustic electric
Answer: As long as you use it correctly, no, it should not damage an acoustic electric guitar.
Question: My oasis oh-5 doesn't shrivel up as it dries out. has anyone else had this happen
Answer: Nope, I have never had that happen. Mine "shrivels" on a regular basis.
Question: What is the difference betewwn the tan colored oh-5 plus+ and the blue oasis humidifier
Answer: The blue Oasis humidifer has a metal clip that attaches to the side for attaching to case and is used mainly for violins, violas, cellos, mandolins, ukuleles, & jazz guitars. The Tan one has a attachment at the top the yellow part that easily goes between the acoustic guitar strings in the sound hole. I have two of the tan ones and after trying several it by far is the best. I don't have to worry about over leakage going into my guitar body with the Oasis OH-5 Plus+ humidifier. I think by far the best on the market and it does a super job. I bought the Oasis humidifier plus the Hygrometer which I just set in my case nearest to the sound hole and it works really well. The humidifier comes with a easy fill tube so theirs no guess work and no over spillage. Plus mine last anywhere from 3-4 days between fill and no guesswork their either when it shrivels up time for refill unlike most of the other humidifiers on the market. Have to change the beads when there ready for change but with a great product like that that is minor. My Martin guitar is an investment worth protecting.

O Oasis Humidifier for acoustic guitars (OH-6)

Product description

OASIS OH-6 GUITAR HUMIDIFIER FOR ACOUSTIC GUITARS FOR GUITAR CASE The huge success of our original blue Oasis “sound-hole” Guitar Humidifier brought numerous inquiries about how to provide humidification for other wooden instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, jazz guitars, and some woodwind instruments like clarinets and oboes. After careful consideration and research, we developed the OH-6 Case Humidifier. This style of Oasis humidifier attaches to the inside of your instrument case. To accomplish this, two powerful neodymium magnets are inserted in the seam of the humidifier. The magnets attach to either a steel clip or a stainless steel strip with adhesive backing (both are provided with the humidifier). The steel clip fits over the side of your case, providing a flat vertical surface to which the magnets can adhere. The neodymium magnets are strong enough to keep the humidifier attached to the clip or strip, but still allow the user to remove the humidifier with ease. The OH-6 Case humidifier can be used to humidify the headstock of a guitar by attaching the clip over the backside of the case. The humidifier can also be used in stringed instrument cases such as violin, viola or cello by attaching the stainless steel strip to the inside of the instrument case with the double sided tape. The steel clip and strip give the user a wide variety of ways to attach the humidifier to the case. Like all of our humidifiers, we provide a 10 cc syringe for distilled water filling control. < Because tap and bottled water have dissolved minerals that can clog the liner, distilled water is recommended to extend the useful life of your humidifier < Set includes: 1x Oasis OH-6 Guitar Humidifier for guitar case OASIS - MADE IN USA

User questions & answers

Question: What are the dimensions of the humidifier? I need to figure if this will fit in my case. Thanks
Answer: Approximately 4 1/8" long, including the cap, and 7/8" in diameter. Those are pretty exact, so you might allow for a little leeway. It fits well in my cases, including a parlor guitar case.
Question: will this work in a soft case
Answer: I bought a hard case because I did not feel that my soft case would contain the humidity. If you want to keep something from drying out you wrap it in plastic, not cloth.
Question: How often do you need to add water to the humidifier
Answer: This item has tiny crystals inside tube. These slow evaporation & can be ordered thru Oasis. Factors that effect evaporationare: Cases; whatever kind, absorb humidity. Some instruments soak up faster than others. General room humidity is factor also.I use a humidistat to monitor all my cases. There's tiny crystals inside tube that slow evaporation. I start with an Oasis. If it dries up too quickI'll add a Herco or Dampit, especially with acoustics. Right now I have 26 cased guitars. This item is in 20 of them. There's smaller size for mandolins, etc.On average, I'd say they can last 5 to 7 days b4 refill. Crystals are replaceable.
Question: can you use this on a soft guitar case, lay flat on its side? will it drip this way
Answer: You most certainly can. I have it in multiple cases and have yet to have experience it drip! It's lock-tight ;) phenomenal product from my point of view and for the purposes I use it for. I am happier as are my acoustic guitars.

Oasis OH-4 Humigel Replacement Kit

O Oasis

Based on 225 reviews Check latest price

Product description

This kit contains a small package of Humigel crystals sufficient to refill 4-6 times, instructions, a .15 cc scoop to accurately measure the amount of crystals needed and a 10cc. syringe. Including the syringe in this package will both reduce crystals loss and encourage the use of distilled water for filling the humidifier. The dry crystals should retain their potency for 5 years or more. One replacement kit should last for several years even if you have several humidifiers to refill annually. The Humigel crystals inside the Oasis guitar humidifier are designed to last a long time. There are, however, situations where replacement is needed. Here are some examples: A purchaser, not familiar with the product, might look inside and not see the crystals, turn the humidifier upside down spilling the dry crystals out. Humigel crystals absorb 500 times their weight in water so the volume of dry crystals needed in the humidifier is extremely small (.3 cubic centimeters to be exact), making them almost invisible at the bottom of the humidifier. When this happens, Oasis recommends that the buyer shake the remaining crystals out and add two level scoops (.15 cc's each) in the top to replace the lost crystals. The humidifier needs .3cc's of crystals (no more/no less). A second common problem comes when the purchaser tries to fill the humidifier too rapidly and washes the crystals out. When this happens, Oasis recommends rinsing the humidifier thoroughly with water and then adding two scoops of crystals. Oasis recommends that the Oasis only be held by the colored shrink tubing located at the top or bottom. The middle portion is made of a soft breathable fabric. Squeezing the humidifier by the middle when the cap is removed will cause water and crystals to be ejected. If this happens, wash the inside of the humidifier thoroughly to clean out all crystals and refill with two scoops of dry crystals. Lastly, unless you live in a place where the humidity is low all year long, most...

User questions & answers

Question: The directions on the kit say for a guitar humidifier add .6cc of crystals. I have a ukulele humidifier. How much in crystals do I use
Answer: I would use the same...one scoop. The humidifier will release the moisture from the beads once they take up the water and from a gel inside the humidifier.
Question: my #6 humidifier (the blue one) just arrived and there are zero crystals. Do you have to buy the crystals sepperatly? If so it goes back
Answer: I received crystals with mine when I bought it some 4-5years ago. I also have the crystals kit as I replace them just about every year. I live in a dry climate. One humidifier and one replacement kit per guitar should last at least five years. YMMV.
Question: How do you know when it's time to replace the gel in the humidifier? What does Oasis recommend
Answer: Here is the advice from the Oasis website:Humigel™ crystals are of critical importance for the successful use of our humidifiers. The ONLY reason for the use of the crystals is to reduce the risk of damage to your instrument from potential leaks. Humigel™ crystals are very hygroscopic and hold up to 400 times their weight in water. We add .3 cc's of crystals prior to packaging. This is such a small quantity that you can barely see them at the bottom of the humidifier. The best way to tell if they are present is to shake the humidifier and hear them rattle around. .3 cc's is the amount needed to turn the water into jelly. Unlike water, the jelly is semi-solid and will contain the water should the humidifier become damaged. With the crystals present, a damaged humidifier will become damp or have water spots but will not leak into you're instrument.More than .3 cc's of Humigel crystals will reduce the ability of the humidifier to function. When there are too many crystals, the water stays suspended in the crystals, and will not evaporate through the fabric of the humidifier, and cannot humidify your instrument. After initially filling your humidifier with distilled water wait 10 minutes. When you look into the humidifier, it should look like clear small curd cottage cheese. If it doesn't look this way, and you have standing water, you need to get a Humigel™ refill kit and replace the crystals. Each kit holds 6-8 refills. As long as you reseal the small zip lock bag inside the kit and leave the desiccant bag in place, the kit will last a long time. Without resealing and the desiccant bag, the crystals cake up with water absorbed from the air. Most instruments only need seasonal humidification. Typically, the humidity drops in the fall and rises in the spring. When the spring arrives, we recommend that you remove the humidifier, wash all of the crystals out, and leave the cap loosely on the humidifier. If you do not remove the crystals and loosen the cap, the humidifier will shrink up, dry up and the crystals will stick together. In the fall, it is easy to damage the lining of the humidifier when trying to restore it to shape. The lining is only 1/1000th of an inch thick and can be damaged easily if it sticks to itself and the crystals, when the humidifier shrinks up and dries up if the lid is left on tight.
Question: Would this work for an OH6 that hasn't been used for a month? I'm assuming the old crystals are no good since I haven't been putting water in. Thanks
Answer: You should be able to use the old crystals just by refilling the OH6 with water. When you first bought it, it had probably been stored for months already without being refilled.

User questions & answers

Question: How much water
Answer: Use distilled water and fill it to the top. Check at least once a week and refill if not full.
Question: Can this be reused over and over by refilling with water or is it disposable? I have two nice Kalas and am looking for something I can reuse
Answer: yes comes with a syringe fo refill. use distilled water only. Has gel crystals that absorb water so keep cap up or they fall out when filling. I live in Reno so need the humidity esp needed fo solid wood ukes.
Question: What does this even do
Answer: Humidification is important on any solid wood ukulele. This device simply hangs in the sound hole from the strings and provides moisture when conditions are very dry. These are especially important in the wintertime anywhere a dry forced air heating system is in use.
Question: How do i measure humidity in the room where the ukes are kept? And below/above what humidity should a humidifier be used
Answer: You'll need a hygrometer to measure humidity. Acoustic instruments made of wood will generally be best if kept in environments with 40-60% humidity. Keep in mind this humidifier is designed to be used inside the ukulele while it is stored in a case. I used to keep my acoustic guitars and ukes sitting on stands or hanging from a wall, but I live in AZ where it is very hot and dry. One of my guitars dried out and cracked! Unless your home is naturally in the ideal range, I would highly advise you to keep any higher quality acoustic guitars and ukes in their cases with a humidifier when you're not using them.

Question: Is the battery powered Hygrometer supposed to be powered on while in the case to register high / low? Or only power on when to see display? thanks

Oasis Guitar Humidifiers 2-Pack

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

You probably already know that your instrument can crack in dry weather. Repairing a cracked top of a fine guitar is both expensive and can alter the sound of your instrument. To solve this problem, guitarists have been using sound hole humidifiers since the 1960s. These humidifiers do have a number of drawbacks. The first is that you cannot see when they need to be refilled. When you do refill them, they can be overfilled and drip inside your expensive instrument. This is because all currently available sound hole humidifiers have openings to allow for water evaporation. The job of protecting the instrument against leaks is left to an absorbent medium such as a sponge or floral foam, which can be over saturated with water.Oasis has solved these problems by using a completely different approach. The body of Oasis is made from a specially designed fabric that allows water vapor (but not water) to pass through it. As the vapor transmission takes place, a vacuum is created and Oasis shrinks to compensate for the loss of water. By watching the Oasis shrink, you can determine when it is ready for refill. When refilling, you don't have to guess when it is full. Simply unscrew the black cap, fill with water to the top of the container and replace the cap. Once sealed, the water tight container is your first line of defense against leaks. Humigel, the super absorbent polymer crystals inside Oasis, are your second line of defense. Humigel captures up to 500 times its weight in water in an absorbent gel matrix.Like other sound hole humidifiers, Oasis fits between the strings of your instrument. The materials that touch your strings are relatively soft and will not scratch your strings. A blue polyurethane stabilizing bar fits over the neck of the humidifier. Once positioned in the sound hole, the stabilizing bar lies across the guitar strings to ensure even weight distribution. Oasis never touches the body of your instrument.Features:2 Guitar HumidifiersFits between

User questions & answers

Question: Is the humidifier blue or red? seems oasis likes to call it "the original blue".. i'm confused why it's red in the picture here :/ thanks
Answer: The one I received was blue. That is strange it's red in the picture. I know there 2 different humidifiers. I think the blue one is the regular one and for dryer areas there's the other one (I think the red one) that lets out more moisture. Good luck!
Question: Does oasis hygrometer show temprature in celsius and faranheit
Answer: The hygrometer that I have is an Elitech LT-2 and YES, it is both Celsius and Fahrenheit. It looks just like OH-2 pictured above except for brand name.
Question: Can i make my guitar (in its hard case, of course) stand for space saving when the oh-1 is in the sound hole? do i have to lay it flat for it? thanks
Answer: The tension from the stings will hold your OH1 n place whether laying flat or standing on edge.
Question: I recently discovered the warranty on my guitar would be invalidated if I didn't keep my guitar at certain humidity levels. Recommendations please
Answer: I've used Oasis humidifier for past 6 months. I works as expected, keeps humidity level around 40-45 in guitar case. Mostly intended for dry winter weather. Hope this helps...

OASIS OH-26 MANDOLIN CASE HUMIDIFIER The OH-26 Mandolin Humidifier is a modified version of our OH-6 Case Humidifier. It is shorter than the OH-6, so it can stand upright in a lower depth mandolin case. It comes with a shorter clip than the OH-6 to fit the reduced depth of the mandolin case. The clip also has a wider top so it can span the side of a thicker plush case. The humidity output is reduced from that of the OH-6 because the area to be humidified is smaller. The OH-26 holds about 1/3rd less water than the OH-6 and only takes two syringes to fill it the first time. The OH-26 will only fit cases where there is an open area for the humidifier to fit (F style). It will not fit a case where the body of the mandolin is completely form fitted to the case on all sides (A style). Answer: This is about 3-1/2 inches. Fits in my Guardian Mandolin case without issue.
Question: Will this work in a soft case

User questions & answers

Question: With the hygrometer part removed, what are the dimensions of just the sponge compartment? I have a concern that it may be too tall for my guitar
Answer: The compartment which holds the sponge is 4" high. The hygrometer, assembled and ready to fit between the strings of a guitar, is 4 1/4" high. I love this hygrometer and have two of them for my more expensive guitars. I only have to refill them about every ten days here in the Arizona desert, and I love being able to see exactly what the humidity is in my guitar cases.
Question: Will this put stress on the strings from the case pressing down on it, or is there enough space? I have a Taylor with the factory hard case
Answer: I own a Taylor 414 with the factory hard case, and have had no issues at all with this. There is a bit more lateral strain on the strings with this than I've had with other humidifiers, but I haven't noticed negative effects. I'm assuming this is so it fits well with classical guitars as well.
Question: Would this be suitable for violin
Answer: As far a being able to humidify the instrument, yes, but it is not made for violin. It is supposed to hang from the strings of a guitar into the body of the instrument. The only way to use this with a violin would be to lay it in the case. It would most likely leak and also not necessarily get the humidity to the right areas. My advice to you would be to find one specific to violin.
Question: Does this item leak inside the guitar when the guitar case is kept in the standing position as opposed to the lying down position? Thanks
Answer: I now have 5 acoustics, all with the HH. I've stored the guitars in every way, except upside down, and there has been no dripping. I was concerned too but make sure to wring a little of the water out of the sponge before installing it. Even so, i get 2-3 weeks above 45% humidity while living in the 25% humidity west. The thing gives me peace of mind, not worries. Hope that helps.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with the humidifying packs
Answer: Yes, the humidifying packs are pictured on the box. Two fabric holders are sent to suspend the packs inside your guitar. Of course, you must keep your guitar in a relatively air-tight case for the system to work. The packs are designed to keep the relative humidity between the recommended 45 to 55 percent. I use a room humidity gauge to determine whether the packs are needed.
Question: I have been using these for 10 months and they are still not dried out. Can they last that long
Answer: Yes, depending on the environment the guitar is kept. Although I don’t wait until the packets turn to stone before changing them. I usually change the packets when they feel a bit crunchy.
Question: Can I use this in an electric acoustic guitar
Answer: This product is for use in any hollow body guitar, especially during the Winter months when the heat is on and the wood tends to dry out. You MUST use a humidifier to keep the wood (especially the guitar top) of your instrument from cracking. I use this D'Addario humidifier on my custom but D-45 with excellent results.
Question: Can you reuse the packs, like after they get hard could you put them in a humid environment and re humidify them
Answer: Yes they can. I have been using these for years and I rotate between sets. One set is in the instrument case while the other is recharging. To recharge, get two Tupperware containers one large and one small. The smaller one (without its lid) needs to fit into the large one so that its lid can be closed. Add about 1/2 inch of water to the larger container and put the packs needed to be recharged in the smaller one, put the smaller container in the larger one and seal it. It takes about 2-3 weeks to recharge a pack that's hardened into new condition. I use humidity meters in the cases to spot check and there is no difference between a new humidipak and a recharged one. If you get the packets wet BTW, the gig is up. You have to throw them out and replace them. I get 2-3 years of service from a set of 3 before they start to fall apart. I live in Ohio BTW, so I only need them for half the year.
