User questions & answers
Question: | Is this as sturdy as it looks? I read reviews saying that they are, but I saw things that say otherwise |
Answer: | I mean, it depends on how you use it. I play a bit of jazz, rock, metal; and so my sticks tend to last. However, I know a guy who just does rimshots every day and hits hard in general - he burns through sticks. For the most part, though, yeah. They're pretty damn sturdy. |
Question: | looking for lightweight sticks,,,,what does 5a -7a ect mean |
Answer: | Image result for drum stick weightsthehub.musiciansfriend.com The weight and diameter of a stick is usually indicated by number and letter respectively, eg. 7A, 2B, 5A. The higher the number, the lighter the stick. Diameter wise, a 5B stick is thicker (larger in diameter) than a 5A stick. These are good sticks for a 6-9 grade. Probably need heavier sticks if you play drum line or trap set. |
Question: | Are these recommended for electronic mesh drum sets |
Answer: | Generally speaking, any standard drum sticks will work with a mesh head electronic kit. Many drummers prefer a nylon tip stick for electronic drums, but this is purely a preference. Also, Zildjian makes a series of sticks called 'anti-vibe' which are made to reduce hand fatigue caused from vibrations while playing electronic kits. In the end, it is best to try many sticks and find your personal favorite. Thank you for your interest! Y2PLAY Stores - 800-695-4808. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is the tone when using |
Answer: | The "tone" or the tip delivers a good feel and response as tone is dependent on your head tune. I usually practice with a heavier stick which lets me play better and sharper beats with this stick. I like the complete stick coating, as they last much longer during a gig. I've used many sticks over the years but this one suits my variety style music. I buy them by the dozen. My suggestion is buy a pair and put them through your regiment. enjoy If you are used to playing hard rock you will need a hardier stick. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I would use these sticks for fitness classes (pound fitness) Are they durable for that? I only usually do two pound fitness routines per class |
Answer: | 7a drumsticks are too lightweight and thin. Type in "pound fitness sticks" and at $15-$20 per pair are plastic and weigh 4.4 oz. If want the Zildjian then use size 2b for $8.29 at 3 oz. or try "Vic Firth MS5 Corpsmaster Snare Sticks" for $8.25 at 8 oz. or "Vic Firth American Classic Metal" sticks for $7.69 at 5 oz. Real drumsticks are made of wood and might splinter or snap when pounding on floor. And I personally do not like the Zildjian black dip because the dip tends to flake off. It looks like the plastic "pound fitness sticks" have a thicker, foamy grip that might be better for that use. And the plastic should be more sturdy for pounding on floor and probably less damaging. |
Question: | Are the tips soft? I need a soft rubber grip type of tip |
Answer: | These have a nylon tip. Thanks for your interest! Y2PLAY Stores 1-800-695-4808 |
Question: | Which one is pefer for a small hand person 5a or 7a |
Answer: | The 7a for young kids. I have small hands and find the 7A a little too thin and light for my own playing. I play my kit with 5a but use heavier Vic Firth American Classic "Metal" for practice pad. As for the nylon dip, it tends to flake and come off with even very light use. I prefer plain wood. |
Question: | Are these sticks maple or hickory |
Answer: | The Zildjian site is useless in this case -- however, my supplier says that the black DIP models are made from U.S. Select Hickory. |
