User questions & answers
Question: | Can I take the second pedal off and use just the side with double string ? And keep the other side off |
Answer: | Yes, very easily. Take your drum key and disconnect the second pedal and shaft, then you're left with the single pedal. There isn't a better pedal on the market. Yamaha blows them all away. |
Question: | Does this come with a replacement belt |
Answer: | No..it doesn't come with any spare or replacement parts. This is a direct drive kick pedal. There aren't any belts or chains used on this pedal. I love this pedal. It has quicker response and more control than a chain or belt type kick pedal. |
Question: | Do they use velcro on the bottom like Axis pedal |
Answer: | No, no velcro. This is a high quality pedal, I have never felt or played a better one. Yamaha for life! |
Question: | for any one whos used this. How well does this pedal function |
Answer: | Smooth as silk. Amazing pedal! |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this work with a SoundX model |
Answer: | It's just a trigger, so it should work. But it should also be better in general. If you're looking for a good kick trigger, this is not it. |
Question: | Could you use 2 of these using a splitter |
Answer: | Probably. It's passive, so that should work. But this pedal is terrible and no one should waste their money on it. |
Question: | Will it work with Alesis drum pad |
Answer: | As far as I know, a beaterless, silent kick pedal like the KU 100 doesn't require a drum pad. -If it's striking against an Alesis drum pad...it wouldn't be silent! so if you meant "will it work with Alesis drum MACHINE" -I'm not 100 % sure it will work with an Alesis, but I bet it will. My friend used the Yamaha KP65 kick pad on his Alesis with no issues, so if that KP65 works on yours, then I'm guessing the KU100 will also - I've checked youtube videos for compatibility before, they can be so helpful! -good luck, I hope you get it going! -peace. |
Question: | does it work without a drum kit |
Answer: | Hi Steph, It's an electronic trigger pedal, velocity sensitive, that can play any electronic sound from a sound module that can receive its trigger signal on a 1/4 inch jack. Most of these types are drum-centered modules. It does not require a drum kit, but needs an electronic sound module plus an amplification system of some kind, or headphones, to hear it. This pedal does not send a Midi signal. |

Question: | what's the difference between the FP 9500c model and the 8500c model |
Answer: | The 9500C allows you to adjust the foot board angle and also allows a strap to be used |
Question: | Does the 8500C come with a case and the nylon strap to replace the chain |
Answer: | My pedal did not include either a case or extra strap. |

Question: | Is this Yammy hi hat an HS 850 model |
Answer: | No. I believe it is the HS-740A hi-hat stand. |
Question: | How is spring/action tension adjusted |
Answer: | I have never had to adjust it. One issue:This is a short high hat stand. We now use it only with a practice stand and bought a full height stand for gigs. |
Question: | What is the shortest this stand can be broken down to? Looking to see if it will fit in my 20" hardware bag. Thanks |
Answer: | When taken apart and folded up the base unit is 24 inches long and the tube with the clutch attached to it is about 20 inches long. |
Question: | Hello: What range of cymbal heights [to the center of the cymbal pair] is available with this stand? (eg, 25" - 30"). Thanks for the info |
Answer: | I have no clue what model it is. But I like it a lot. |

Though it’s a fact little known outside professional circles, Yamaha has been producing special custom-made mouthpieces for hundreds of the world’s top players at our R&D Ateliers for many years. These artists were not satisfied with any commercial models available. They came to us because they had confidence that if anyone had the skill needed to create their own ‘dream’ mouthpiece, it was Yamaha. The players knew from the experience gained in their long careers exactly the kind of sound and response they wanted, and our technicians knew from their long experience in crafting instruments how to deliver it.
- 28.72mm inner rim diameter
- Semi-flat rim contour
- Semi-thin rim thickness, semi-deep cup
- Large symphonic size cup gives a big, rich sound
- Full, centered tone with a focused core and brilliant, well-defined overtone
User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a 1 1/2G size |
Answer: | No its the size of a 1g/60. |
Question: | Do the cup and the rim screw apart or are they one piece |
Answer: | This is a cast iron, silver plated ust one piece mouthpiece. |
Question: | Is this mouthpiece only for bass trombones or could i use it on my largebore tenor Bach trombone |
Answer: | It's a large bass trombone mouthpiece. The shank would fit in a large bore tenor, but it is too large to play well on a tenor trombone. Players using it on a tenor trombone for tenor range parts would tire more quickly and struggle to avoid being flat in the high register. |
Question: | Is this a large shank? What diameter minimum does the receiver need to be for the shank to fit |
Answer: | Yes, this mouthpiece is large shank. About the minimum diameter I am not sure. I use a Yamaha Bass Trombone with Large bore: .563". |

Question: | Maximum weight capacity of the throne |
Answer: | I don't know what the actual specs are, but I'm 6'5" and 230lbs and I feel like this throne could hold twice that. Very sturdy. |
Question: | Does the top part of the pole pull out from the bottom part to adjust the height, or can you only make it higher by adjusting the legs in/out |
Answer: | Yes, the DS-550 drum throne does adjust up and down and has a memory lock as well to keep the rod/pole in place. You can also make smaller adjustments using the legs as well. |
Question: | Is this the ds-550 or the ds-550u? i bought the ds-550 from another place and received the ds-550u |
