The Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass is a full-sized bass guitar that produces a deeper, fuller tone than basses costing much more. 34" scale, easy-playing neck. Case sold separately.
From the Manufacturer
Here's a versatile acoustic-electric bass from Dean. It's perfect for a beginner looking to enjoy some acoustic, living-room jams, but still features a Dean preamp for plugging into your favorite bass amp or recording gear. The EAB features a spruce top, mahogany body, rosewood bridge and fretboard, pearl dot inlays, and legendary Dean construction and playability, at an affordable price.
Mahogany Body With Spruce Top
The Mahogany/Spruce combo is a pretty common choice in acoustic tonewoods, whether for basses or guitars. Mahogany boasts a wide dynamic range, perfect for ampifying your nuance and still sounding good when you lay into it.
The spruce accentuates the bass and treble end of things. It's all finished up in a classic black glossy finish, that shows you mean business.
34-Inch Mahogany Neck
The EAB features a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, and classic pearl dot inlays. It boasts a rosewood bridge to match, with a contemporary "sliver" shape that's all Dean.
Celluloid Binding and Rosette
Speaking of looks, the EAB has plenty, enhanced by the celluloid rosette and body binding.
Dean Tuners
Dean diecast tuners complete the hardware ensemble, ensuring you stay in tune even when you're plugged in and rocking out.
Dean Passive Preamp
The EAB sounds great on its own, but sometimes you want to turn things up a bit (or plug into an audio interface for recording, perhaps).
The onboard Dean preamp offers basic volume and tone controls to dial in just the sound you need.

User questions & answers
Question: | A few people noted that there is only one strap button. So there is no way to attach a strap at all, right |
Answer: | My strap has these strings at the end, that I attach to the neck that way. I've seen people do it that way before. But yes, only one strap button. |
Question: | Mine sounds low when connected to an amp, anyone else have this trouble |
Answer: | Hello Jean....When you say it sounds "low" I'm guessing you mean the volume and not the tone (as a bass SHOULD sound low!) I RARELY plug it into an amp and when I do it's just a small guitar amp. I've never plugged it into an actual bass amp and TURNED UP THE VOLUME so I don't know. Sorry I can't be more helpful. |
Question: | Hi...for battery replacement..where and how....is it in the soundhold or can I easily access by fliping open the EQ |
Answer: | Just looked at mine and I can say that there's no place on or near the EQ (or anywhere else on the body) that you can flip open to replace the battery. My bass is new enough yet that I haven't had to replace a battery. Looking inside the sound hole, there is a box just behind the EQ that's roughly the size of a 9V battery, but can't say for sure that that is it. I can say with certainty that its not easily accessible from the exterior by a small door/hatch. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is there a gig bag to fit this bass? We have the bass, and it's great... but getting it to and from shows is a problem at present |
Answer: | Yes There Is, also made by dean, it fits perfectly and with a pocket for strings/tuner, http://www.amazon.com/Dean-AB-PLAYAB-Playmate-Acoustic/dp/B0002IJEES/ref=pd_sim_267_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=31D3j6wnHFL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=030E5ZWD8JCVG36CMM34 |

Question: | Country of origin |
Answer: | The guitar I bought was labeled, "made in China". It had many imperfections. These could be really nice guitars, the materials are good. The craftsmanship is poor. I returned my guitar because it was defective. With these it's probably 1 out of 10 is a gem. Mine was not a gem. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is it solid top? does it come with a case |
Answer: | According to the Guitar Center website, this guitar does not come with a case. As for whether it has a solid top, I was wondering the same thing. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Dean/AXS-Dreadnought-Quilt-Acoustic-Guitar-Natural-1361202707222.gc?pfm=search_page.rr1%7CRecentHistoricalItems |
Question: | I'm having a hard time restringing the guitar can anyone give me some pointers |
Answer: | I usually do mine on reverse. I thread the string through and coil it around according to how it's placed, usually from inside to out. So counter clock on the lower three strings and clockwise on the upper three. Run it through enough up to the bridge and secure with the pins. Make the length enough that you will not have a hard time tightening. One string at a time. With this you will have no extra messy string. You will learn your own technique on time. Don't give up. |
