13 best classical guitar brands
Classical guitars, also known as Spanish guitars, are a type of acoustic guitar designed for classical music. These guitars have specific characteristics that distinguish them from other acoustic guitars:
Nylon Strings: Classical guitars use nylon strings, which produce a warm and mellow tone compared to the steel strings of other acoustic guitars. The use of nylon strings is more comfortable on the fingers.
Wide Neck and Flat Fingerboard: Classical guitars have wider necks and flat fingerboards, making it easier to play complex fingerstyle techniques common in classical music.
Slotted Headstock: Many classical guitars have a slotted headstock design, which allows for easier string changes and tuning.
Several reputable classical guitar brands are known for producing high-quality instruments:
a. Ramírez: Ramírez is a legendary Spanish guitar maker, known for crafting exquisite and traditional classical guitars. The Ramírez 1A model is particularly renowned.
b. Córdoba: Córdoba is a well-regarded brand that offers a range of classical guitars suitable for different skill levels and budgets. They are known for combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
c. Yamaha: Yamaha produces a wide range of musical instruments, including classical guitars. Their classical guitars are often recommended for beginners and intermediate players due to their consistent quality and affordability.
d. La Patrie: La Patrie, based in Canada, is known for producing handcrafted classical guitars using high-quality materials and traditional methods. Their guitars are often praised for their sound and playability.
e.Alhambra: Alhambra is a Spanish manufacturer known for producing classical guitars with a rich, traditional sound and excellent craftsmanship.
f. Fender: Fender, a well-known name in the guitar industry, also offers classical guitars that are popular among musicians seeking a modern twist on the traditional classical guitar design.

User questions & answers
Question: | Please clarify—is this right or left handed? One comment says it is a great left handed guitar? I’m confused |
Answer: | The listing you have here is for right handed. There is a C5 Lefty, but it is a totally different listing. Thank you, Daniel Calido Guitars |
Question: | Can this product be used by right handed people by changing order of the strings |
Answer: | I agree with the previous response that you have to change the nut, but you also need to change the saddle as the bass side is higher than the treble, not much, but enough to cause buzzing on the bass strings sometimes. You can try it and see. If it buzzes on the basses, then you need to get a new saddle, too. Do you have a C5 lefty you want to convert? If not, then just buy a regular C5. If you are trying to convert, then contact us and we can send you a right handed nut and saddle. They are not expensive. Good luck!DanielCalido Guitars |
Question: | Does this guitar have a high action from the 10th fret onwards? Would the action be that of a classical guitar or a steel string acoustic |
Answer: | This is a traditional classical guitar, so the action will be consistent with a classical guitar. The only difference with this model is the cutaway. That being said, our shop can adjust the action of the instrument before shipping. If you prefer lower action, let us know. There are limits to how low it can be, however. |
Question: | How does the c5 spruce compare to the c7 sp |
Answer: | Both are solid Spruce top, the C5 has laminate mahogany back/sides, C7 has laminate Indian Rosewood back/sides. |

- Other great features include a beautiful inlaid mosaic rosette, synthetic bone nut and bridge saddle, rosewood head cap, gold tuners with white pearl buttons and a luxurious gloss finish
User questions & answers
Question: | Does yours say made in Japan, mine said made in China in small letters at the bottom of the label in the sound hole |
Answer: | Mine says "...Crafted in China..." |
Question: | does this guitar have an adjustable truss rod |
Answer: | No it does not. |
Question: | Am i seeing correctly or am i being mislead by the product description? are back and sides rosewood? or black walnut according to takamine’s website |
Answer: | Solid rosewood back and laminated rosewood sides. |
Question: | How's the Action on this? and does it come with a case |
Answer: | The action is set higher, but because of the Nylon strings it is easy to move. You want to make sure your neck is straight not bowed up or down when your guitar is fully tuned with the right gage of strings. From there you can adjust the lower saddle on the bridge up or down for that perfect height, not too low to buzz nor too high to change the pitch when press to the fret board. Unless the guitar indicates a case sold with it, you want to see if the seller knows what case to use. Otherwise you take the measurements and get a case to fit by checking, height of the body, the length of guitar from the bottom to the head. The width of body across the fattest part. Or you can cheat and call Musicians Friends and ask for assistance in picking out your case. I don't like soft shell cases and would always use hard shell cases better protection |

User questions & answers
Question: | can I use this strings on a Jamine S35 guitar |
Answer: | No. These are nylon strings. The Jasmine S35 is a steel string guitar. The two types of strings have VERY different tensions and are not interchangeable. If you are looking for a softer sound and feel, try Silk and Steel strings, which are designed to give more of a nylon string feel to a steel string guitar. |
Question: | Are these ball or tie ends |
Answer: | Very few classical guitar strings come with ball ends, and they say so when they do. EJ-45 are the main string I use - tried and true, not expensive, highly recommended. |
Question: | I'm confused... why do "nylon classical guitar strings" say that they're silver-plated??? Are these nylon strings or steel strings |
Answer: | They are nylon strings, its just the lower strings (E,A,D) are going to be "plated" with silver; all in all they are still nylon strings, not steel. |
Question: | Im a steel guitar player planning on buying his 1st classical guitar. What is the difference in tension mean please? Any recommendations on brands of |
Answer: | For a steel guitar player, the High Tension classical strings would probably feel closer to what you are used to as high tension strings are pulled tighter to tune than medium and soft. The tension just describes how tight the strings are in relation to the tuned note. On high tension strings, your strings would feel tighter on any given note than medium or soft. But as you know, you can get various tensions on steel strings as well. If you are new to the classical guitar, you are going to have to drop the pick and just use your finger tips, but you will get used to this and will enjoy the more intimate relationship with your strings and the sounds they produce. Good luck! As to brand, D'Addarrio is as good as most and better than some. Just go with any major brand on sale until you develop a personal preference based on your own experience. When you change strings on a classical, get ready for a lot of retuning until the strings "set." It takes a few days of playing before your new strings stretch out, and even then, you must retune often. If you don't have your guitar yet, for a previous steel string, or electric guitar player, I would recommend an accoustic-electric classical guitar with a cut-away style.Best Regards,JohananIf you are going over to nylon (classical) guitar, however, I would recommend just using the "regular" or "medium" strings as they are the standard and are easy to get anywhere |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use it on Acoustic guitar |
Answer: | Never tried it.... the only thing I can think of that "might" give you a hiccup would be the grooves in the nut for the E, B, & G strings. |
Question: | Are thes strings "ball ends |
Answer: | No!! Nylon strings with no ball end |
Question: | Will the strings hurt an eight year old child |
Answer: | The strings will NOT "hurt" anyone at any age. But I do know that protecting a child from life will hurt them the most. Scrapes and bruises are all part of growing up. And teaches kids how to respond to lifes curve balls. Is this a serious question?? Lol... |
Question: | do the strings come with ball endings |
Answer: | No, they do not come with ball endings. Just bought two packs based on prior wrong answer and of course all strings in both pack do not have ball endings. |

Slightly larger than the Requinto 580, the Cadete is a 3/4 size guitar (615mm scale length). It has the traditional Spanish 7 fan bracing, a solid Cedar top and mahogany back and sides. Additional features include a hand inlaid wooden rosette, gold tuning machines with pearl buttons and a rosewood fingerboard. An adjustable truss rod is built into the neck. This is a great guitar for anyone looking for a lightweight, comfortable, and easy playing instrument. The Cordoba Cadete is easy to play, thanks to the 3/4 body size and 1.88 inches nut width. The smaller body size makes the Cadete ideal for younger players, or anyone who finds a standard-sized classical nylon guitar just a bit too big. And the 1.88 inches nut width makes it easier to form chords and change positions, great for new players or those transitioning from a standard acoustic or electric guitar.

- Mahogany back and sides
- Lightweight, 3/4 size classical, 48mm nut width
- Savarez Cristal Corum strings in High Tension, 500CJ

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the total length of this guitar |
Answer: | Total length (end-to-end) is 37 1/4" vs 39 3/4" for my full-size guitar. |
Question: | Did this include a gig big |
Answer: | The Cadete. does not come with a gig bag. It must be purchased separately. Sorry.Daniel Calido Guitars |
Question: | String spacing at the nut and saddle, and neck width |
Answer: | According to the Cordoba website, nut width is 48mm, string spacing at saddle 55mm, and neck width is not listed. I own an older model of this guitar (2007?) and the neck is probably large U shaped in comparison to other smaller size guitars that I tried out like the baby Taylor; but far more comfortable to me, which is one of the reasons I purchased this guitar. |
Question: | Does it have pegs for a strap |
Answer: | No strap pegs on this classical-style guitar. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm looking to use these on my aeg10nii ibanez acoustic electric. will they produce sound through an amp or are they strictly nylon |
Answer: | There's a built-in pizo-pickup, you can think of it as a microphone, to pick up the sound of your guitar when you play and generate electrical signals to feed your guitar amp. Thus, the sound from your amp has nothing to do with your nylon string itself. |
Question: | Would these be good for ibanez aeg10nii electric/acoustic |
Answer: | I've only used them on an electronic Yamaha Silent guitar, but I can't see why there would be any problem on your Ibanez. They have a good clean sound and for me their tuning and intonation has been far more stable than that of nylon strings. Also they still sound pretty good after a hammering for 3 months or more. They're certainly worth a try. John Willetts Kerikeri NZ |

LASER-FOCUSED ON PRECISION.
Two-axis laser micrometers continuously monitor the polymer extrusion process, ensuring precise control of string diameter and concentricity. This results in consistent string tension and accurate intonation.
EXCEPTIONALLY CONTROLLED. AMAZINGLY ACCURATE.
D'Addario's polymer extrusion line produces strings with exceptional control over string diameter and concentricity. These variables ensure the accurate tension and intonation of every string we make.
FULLY TWISTED FOR A FULLER SOUND.
Dynacore strings utilize a proprietary multifilament core tensioning technique that results in a rich, round, and full sound with enhanced dynamic response.
POLISHED FOR A SMOOTH FINISH.
Semi-polished classical guitar strings feature a flattened wrap wire surface for maximum finger noise reduction, making them ideal for use with microphones on stage or in the recording studio.
