Answer:	There are 2 RAM slots and both were filled in my system. This can depend upon what day it is manufactured. However, the RAM upgrade is easy. Just select the amount of RAM you want over two sticks and replace. If you have never done a RAM upgrade and/or feel uncomfortable, take it to a computer shop that performs this type of work.

Question:	Could i use this with vinyl turntables
Answer:	33.3 RPM records require RIAA equalization and most phono cartridges require very low noise high sensitivity input gain stages, which the DBX 286 does not have and which makes this unit unsuitable as a turntable preamp. However, if your records are vocal speech only and you can provide the 286 with an adjustable line level input signal, you might be able to use the unit as a speech processor for your turntable. If you are unsure of what I am talking about, then the answer to your question is "no".

Answer:	John, you would plug MIC > DBX 286s > LINE INPUT of your interface. Receive the line input signal in your DAW and adjust your settings as necessary on the CH strip. Your monitors would plug in to your interface as normal. If you have further questions , please let us know!
Question:	My plan is to use a Microphone - into XLR - then into Channel 1 on my Focusrite 18i20. How does someone use this as an 'INSERT"? What is an INSERT
Answer:	I'd imagine more or less you'll be doing this the same way I have mine set up. You run your XLR into the back input of the DBX 286s, then use a 1/4" audio out into your first channel preamp on your Focusrite interface. Currently Focusrite cannot get a signal with WDM (only ASIO gets a signal) if you try using the 1/4" audio out into the rear inputs. Only the front ones work until they address it with a patch.
Question:	Will this prevent clipping? My music has a lot of soft parts and parts where I'm shouting. Thanks
Answer:	The only thing I use to prevent mic clip is mic staging and proper leveling in side what ever DAW your using. In other words sing lower parts louder by moving to the mic and loud parts lower by moving away from the mic. So the DBX is pretty good for the price but without proper mic staging could add to your problem.

Answer:	I have the white carafe ( with the black top and handle) and the body is completely metal. it does not have a non slip substance on the bottom, ( like a coffee cup type carafe would have) which is not a problem for me, because in my past experiences, a non slip substance starts to curl up and peel off. I don't find the bottom getting warm of course, because of the great heat retention properties, but if you want to protect a surface from scratches, I've just placed it on a little pot holder while using it. We have been very happy with ours.

Answer:	The 6014 only has 9 amps but It does process 11 channels but you need a 2 channel amp to get the last 2 channels. Some people get an amp for the 2 fronts then power everything else through the receiver. I use an inexpensive 2 channel amp to power my rear height speakers. (Monoprice Unity 100-Watt Bridgeable Power Amp) Works great for setting up a 7.2.4 on the 6014.

Answer:	I've used this to go in 'both directions.' I primarily go from my mixing board ('1/4 Monos') out to my PC's Line In (1/8), but I've gone the other direction as well (PC Headphone out to Mixing Board "1/4 Monos" In).
Question:	What cables do I need to connect this to my computer to record a podcast
Answer:	3.5mm Headphone or Aux out on PC to 1/4 in on the mixer should work just fine.
