| Answer: | I installed mine in a fiberglass shower surround, and they are holding up well, but there are a few factors to consider. If you can find an area that doesn't sound hollow, it may have backing blocks behind it, or it may be an area that the manufacturer added extra material to. Those are the best spots to try to anchor to. If you attach it to any other area, you are only attaching to material that is about 1/8" thick. If you drill the holes small enough for the screws to get good grip, and don't overtighten them so that they strip the material they are threading into, then they may hold well for a long time. You can also add construction adhesive to hold the base plates to the fiberglass, and this will help. |
