13 best roland hi hats

Roland is a well-known brand in the world of electronic musical instruments and drum sets. They offer a range of electronic hi-hat cymbals and controllers that cater to the needs of drummers and percussionists. Here's what you should know about Roland hi-hats:

  1. Electronic Hi-Hats: Roland manufactures electronic hi-hats designed to be used with electronic drum kits. These hi-hats are part of an electronic drum set or can be added as separate components to acoustic drum kits to create a hybrid setup.

  2. Realistic Feel: Roland places a strong emphasis on providing a realistic playing experience. Their electronic hi-hats are known for their authentic feel and responsiveness, mimicking the sensation of playing acoustic hi-hat cymbals.

  3. Variable Sound: One of the advantages of Roland electronic hi-hats is their ability to produce a wide range of sounds. You can control the open and closed sounds, as well as various degrees of "chick" (the sound made when you close the hi-hats quickly). This versatility allows drummers to replicate a variety of hi-hat sounds, from tight and closed to open and splashy.

  4. Dual Triggers: Roland hi-hats often feature dual-zone triggering. This means that the hi-hat pad can detect two distinct levels of pressure – one for the bow (the top surface) and another for the edge (the outer rim). This allows for nuanced and dynamic playing.

  5. Control Pedal: To control the opening and closing of the hi-hats, Roland provides a hi-hat control pedal. This pedal is used to simulate the foot motion of a traditional hi-hat stand and allows for smooth transitions between open, closed, and partially open hi-hat positions.

  6. Compatibility: Roland electronic hi-hats are designed to work seamlessly with Roland's drum sound modules and electronic percussion products. They are typically compatible with various Roland drum kits and can be integrated into a Roland V-Drums setup.

  7. Sound Customization: Users can often customize the hi-hat sounds through the drum module, adjusting parameters like pitch, decay, and tone to achieve their desired sound.

  8. Durability: Roland electronic drum components are known for their durability and reliability. They are designed to withstand the rigors of live performances and extensive practice sessions.

  9. Expansion Options: Roland offers different models and sizes of electronic hi-hats, allowing drummers to choose the one that suits their playing style and kit setup. Additionally, they may offer expansion options to add more pads and cymbals to your electronic drum kit.

Overall, Roland hi-hats are favored by drummers looking for high-quality electronic options that offer both realistic feel and versatile sound possibilities. They are commonly used in a variety of musical genres and settings, from studio recording to live performances.

Roland VH-10 V-Drum Hi-Hat, 10-Inch

Based on 11 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The VH-10 V-Hi-Hat uses a single-cymbal floating design that can be mounted and played on a traditional acoustic hi-hat stand. It provides the same playing feel as an acoustic hi-hat with natural rebound feel and swinging motion of the hi-hat cymbal. The depth at which you advance the pedal of the hi-hat stand smoothly varies the tonal character from open to closed, and you can also use hi-hat techniques such as half-closed playing and foot-splash. The VH-10 allows you to express the tonal change that occurs when you strike the hi-hat in the closed state before immediately opening it. You can even differentiate between strikes on the bow and edge of the cymbal, too.

  • Light-weight cymbal, perfect for foot splash techniques and quick pedal control
  • Replicates the natural swinging motion of an authentic hi-hat cymbal
  • Differentiate between strikes on the bow and edge
  • Striking surface uses rubber for silencing
  • Can be mounted on a traditional acoustic hi-hat stand

User questions & answers

Question: would this vh-10 operate with my td11 module
Answer: Although I am not an expert at this, however I would think that any trigger would work with any electronic module. It would be silly to make them only work on a Roland, or Yamaha, Simmons or any other drum module manufacturer.
Question: Does this work with the Roland TD-25k
Answer: I am not an expert in electronic drum modules and kits. I did a Google search and found some chat threads of people interchanging parts/triggers between brands. It would seem that as long as the inputs are similar, that it should trigger. But, I would recommend that you ask someone who really knows. Perhaps, go to Guitar Center and ask the guys in Percussion if that would work.
Question: Will the vh10 work with a td10 expanded tdw
Answer: Hi there, Yes, the FD-9 is a hihat controller, not a bass drum pedal. The item's description on Amazon is incorrect. The KT-9 is the kick pedal. We hope this clarifies things. Kind regards, Roland Product Support
Question: Is this compatible with the old TD6 models
Answer: Hello, We've specified this on the 6th photo of the listing, please note. Actually, you can use them for snorkling but we're afraid that the earplugs may not stay securely due to the pressure underwater. Thanks.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work with a roland td-17kl v-drums electronic drum set
Answer: I'm not sure why Roland advertises this as a Bass Drum Pedal, as both FD-8 and FD-9 (newer model) are both used as a Hi-hat pedals. Normally a typical bass drum pedal has a beater on the pedal to make contact with the bass sensor pad. If you are using the FD-9 as a hi-hat pedal, it should work with most Roland V-Drum kits. Eventually the hi-hat pedals wear down from use/dust buildup and needs cleaning and adjustment to regain the "opening and closing" of the hi-hat "chick" sound. You can find videos on YouTube how to refurbish an FD-8 or similar pedal.

Answer: This is not Bluetooth capable
Question: Is it compatible with TD-4 module

Answer: Yes you can plug this into any roland module with a 1/4” input connection and then select any sound to assign
