Answer:	I believe a jazz bass with a reverse headstock would be what you want because the B string will have a lot longer link to travel so it shall sustain and vibrate better while being a tighter tension. Answer:	They are too heavy to be aluminum. They are either brass or steel - probably brass. Quality not pot metal.

Answer:	They are both knurled meaning the small beaded ridges on the outside for gripping, and have set screws to set in place with solid shaft pots.
