13 best hohner flutes
Hohner, a well-established musical instrument company, is primarily recognized for its harmonicas. While they are not as commonly associated with flutes, they do manufacture a variety of wind instruments, including recorders. Here's some general information about Hohner recorders and related products:
Recorders: Hohner likely produces recorders, which are a type of flute-like instrument with a whistle mouthpiece. Recorders are often used in educational settings and are available in various sizes, including soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. They are known for their ease of learning, making them popular choices for beginners.
Wind Woodwinds: Hohner's involvement in wind woodwinds may extend beyond just recorders. This category could include other wind instruments such as harmonicas, melodicas, or other woodwind instruments. Each instrument is designed to meet specific musical needs.
Band Orchestra: Hohner instruments, including their recorders, may find use in school bands or orchestras.Recorders are often introduced in early music education programs due to their simplicity and the foundational skills they help develop in young musicians.
Musical Instruments: In addition to harmonicas and recorders, Hohner likely manufactures various other musical instruments. The company has a long history and diversified product range, contributing to music education and performance across different genres.
It's important to note that while Hohner is known for its quality instruments, the specifics of their product offerings, including flutes and recorders, can change over time. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is recommended to refer to Hohner's official website or contact the company directly.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this product include any cleaning tools such as swab |
Answer: | It is balanced. As far as a type of transformer? You need to email them through their site www.glsaudio.com. I have 2 and prefer them over the 57. |
Question: | Whst is the difference between this 9550 and Hohner |
Answer: | Hi David,No, the GLS Audio ES-57 (and ES-58 & ES-58-S) mics do not require phantom power or a battery. They are "dynamic" mics. Generally a "condenser" mic would require phantom power or a battery. If your system provides phantom power it will not damage the GLS Audio microphones. They will still function 100% perfect with or without phantom power. This may not be true for all mics, so be careful with other brands when supplying phantom power. Check with the manufacturer before you supply phantom power to other brands of microphones.Best Regards,Bryan SundaGLS Audio800-897-8373 |
Question: | Is it possible to get a case for this recorder? I would really like for it to have some protection |
Answer: | Anything you point it - it records... Just as long as you have recording equipment. |
Question: | How is the intonation on the recorder |
Answer: | Off axis rejection is significantly higher (rejects more off-axis sound sources) than the Shure SM57's I use in micing instruments in a church application. I personally prefer the GLS over the SM-57 for feedback rejection, however I do run them through a tube preamp (Behringer Ultragain Pro MIC2200) to get the sound quality and gain equivalent to the SM-57's. With this combination I think they sound amazing for the price. I've had no issues related to durability, but my gear isn't getting hauled around to tough environments. I would recommend a good road case if you're dragging these all over. At this price they have to have some compromises in build quality, but any mic can break if it's abused, dropped, etc. |

Question: | What does D=german fingering mean |
Answer: | It's the best intonation on any recorder I have ever played. The notes are precise, the tone is warm and strong on the low and clear and bright on the high. I am not the world's greatest expert on recorders, but I am very happy with all aspects of this instrument and recommend it heartily, particularly at this price, to everyone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I am a waldorf teacher and looking for something less expensive. can i play traditional waldorf music written in the pentatonic scale with this one |
Answer: | Short answer: German style is easier to play a regular scale as all notes go in sequence (no tricky fingering for the note "F"). Longer answer: German style makes it harder to play accidentals (#s and flats) and does not translate to most recorders, especially of other sizes. However, for this instrument, the playing is easier for less dexterous students and I bought this style of "recorder" for my special needs classes and used regular Baroque style recorders for all other classes. |
Question: | Does it come with a case |
Answer: | It comes with a plastic stick with a loop on the end for attaching a bit of cloth (cloth not included), a fingering chart, and is all in a plastic cover. It was easy enough for me, in my opinion, to get a little of cloth for the cleaning stick to swab it with, some cork greas to have for it, and I additionally made myself a nice instrument roll to have a better place to keep it and accessories than the plastic sleeve it all comes in. I've seen nany inexpensive on etsy on stuff liked that; I just preferred the fun of making my own to customize it and make spots for the accessory supplies I wanted to keep with it. |
Question: | where is it made |
Answer: | the 9522 is maple- this one is a darker pearwood!! hope this helps |
Question: | Is this maple or pearwood ? The add says pearwood but when I bought it the add said maple . I'm confused |
Answer: | It comes with a plastic cover, but i think any regular recorder case would work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, can anyone tell me if this item by any chance comes disassembled |
Answer: | Hi, I'm a music teacher as well and I got one of these recorders a while ago. In my experience I prefer to use the Yamaha YRS24B or the Yamaha YRS-23Y both soprano recorders in C than this Maple recorder. The Yamahas are made out of high quality plastic so the kids do not need to take special care of it contrary to the needs of a wooden one. On the other hand, these Yamahas give an even sound all the way through while my Maple one sounds very weak on the low notes. You can play the chromatic scale on these recorders so YES, you can play the pentatonic scale as well. |
Question: | Would this flute be okay for a 6 year old? Many of the reviews were for 2 or 3 year olds. Thanks |
Answer: | No, not an actual case. It comes in a heavy plastic sleeve. The recorder itself is very nice and has a nice tone. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | They are now made in China. |
Question: | Does it come in any kind of case? How do I order a variety of colors |
Answer: | This Model (9522) is Maple. The 9550 is Pearwood (w/dark stain). |
