8 best violin with cases

A violin is a stringed musical instrument known for its melodious and expressive sound. Violins are typically constructed with a wooden body and four strings, which are usually tuned to G, D, A, and E. When played with a bow or plucked with fingers, the strings vibrate, producing sound.

Here are some key aspects of violins and their cases:

  1. Violin Construction: Violins are crafted from various types of wood, with spruce often used for the top (soundboard) and maple for the back, sides, and neck. The fingerboard is typically made of ebony. The body of the violin is hollow, creating a resonating chamber that amplifies the sound produced by the strings.

  2. Sound Production: The sound of a violin is produced when a player draws a bow across the strings, causing them to vibrate. The bow is usually made from horsehair and is rosined to provide friction against the strings. By pressing the strings against the fingerboard with one hand and bowing with the other, the player can change the pitch and tone of the notes.

  3. Tone and Timbre: Violins are celebrated for their wide range of tone and timbre. A skilled player can produce a rich and expressive sound that is suitable for various musical genres, including classical, folk, jazz, and more.

  4. Violin Cases: Violin cases are designed to protect the instrument when it's not in use. They come in various styles and materials, including:

    • Hardshell Cases: These cases are typically made of wood, fiberglass, or a combination of materials. They offer excellent protection against impacts and environmental factors and often have compartments for storing accessories like bows and rosin.

    • Soft Cases: Soft violin cases are usually made of padded fabric materials and are more lightweight and portable than hardshell cases. While they offer some protection, they may not be as sturdy as hardshell cases.

    • Hybrid Cases: Hybrid cases combine elements of both hardshell and soft cases, providing a balance between protection and portability.

    • Custom Cases: Some violinists invest in custom-made cases that are tailored to the specific dimensions of their instrument, ensuring a perfect fit.

  5. Accessories: In addition to a case, violinists often use various accessories, such as shoulder rests, chin rests, and stands, to enhance comfort and performance while playing.

  6. Maintenance: Proper care and maintenance are essential to keep a violin in good condition. This includes regular tuning, cleaning, and occasional adjustments by a luthier (violin maker or repair specialist).

  7. Value and Collectibility: Vintage and high-quality violins can hold significant value and are often considered collectible items. The craftsmanship, age, and history of the instrument can all influence its worth.

Violins are versatile instruments with a rich history and a place in various musical traditions. Whether played by beginners or virtuoso performers, they continue to be cherished for their captivating sound and expressive capabilities. Proper protection and care, facilitated by well-designed violin cases, are essential for preserving these beautiful instruments.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with the accesories in the picture
Answer: Everything that is in the picture comes in the case.
Question: If my daughter is 10, what size should I get
Answer: I got the 4/4 size however my grandaughter has the 7/8 and she is 10. The violins are so close in size its hard to tell the difference however her bow in lenght is shorter.
Question: Would this 1/4 fit a small 7 year old
Answer: 5 -7 yrs about 18"arm span 1/47-9yrs about 20"arm span 1/2
Question: Can this be used as a fiddle
Answer: The bridge is the difference. A fiddle is a violin with a flatter bridge and a violin with a rounded bridge is played in the classic style and just called violin. Fiddle, as some mentioned is related to folk, country western, zydeco, bluegrass, folksy types of music. This is because the flatter bridge allows one to play chords more easily by making it easier to bow two or more strings at once. Whereas a standard violin with rounded bridge is easier to bow single notes as one would in an orchestral setting.

Mendini MV200 Violin

The Mendini MV200 violin has an impressive quality for the price, and is a remarkably affordable option for students who have never played the violin before and want to try it out for the first time. The MV200 produces a bright and vibrant sound that is simple and easy to work with, and comes with an outfit that provides students with everything they will need to get started. Both of our Mendini MV200 and Mendini MV300 violins have the same specifications and quality, but they differ in the type of finish used and the character of sound each one produces. The MV300 has a mellow and warm tone with a soft satin varnish finish to match.

How to choose violin sizes

Violins are available in 8 different sizes: 4/4 (also called full size), 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/10, 1/16 and 1/32. Size 4/4 is the biggest and size 1/32 is the smallest. All adults, regardless of their size, use the size 4/4 violin.

To measure what size violin best suits you, you need to know the length between your neck and the middle of your left-hand palm (when your hand is fully extended and raised perpendicular to your body, just like holding a violin). Most of the teachers prefer students to use the length from the neck to the wrist for measurement instead of the neck to mid-palm approach. The violin size determined by the neck/wrist approach would be the size that is more comfortable for students to hold. The violin size determined by the neck/mid-palm approach would be the biggest size students should use. The following table lists the length of each violin size. Find your length using your preferred approach and use that to determine the size of violin to get.

If you have a teacher, you should ask for your teacher's recommendation. If you don't have a teacher, we would recommend using the neck/wrist approach for students not using full size; for students who are deciding whether to used size 3/4 or size 4/4, use the neck/mid-palm approach. This is because it is always better those students feeling comfortable holding and playing the violin. However, while deciding between size 3/4 and size 4/4, if neck/mid-palm approach allows for size 4/4, then buying a size 4/4 is more economical since you don't have to buy another bigger size violin later. This is completely based on economical consideration. You should still decide what best suits your need.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the case have backpack hooks and straps
Answer: I bought this for my wife back in July. She has been taking classes and is still using the same strings. They are a good quality. I highly recommend this product.
Question: inside measurment? I have a very large violin
Answer: All ukuleles are small, and if you have larger hands, you might find the short scale of a soprano to be cramped. No ukulele could be called "too big", so try to find a shop that has all four sizes and decide which is most comfortable for you. The tenor is easy to play and has more depth and "punch", but the little soprano wins on charm.
Question: Is there a strap to secure a shoulder rest inside the case
Answer: Read the reviews. My wife loves hers. Mine developed a crack in the top within two weeks of owning it and I returned and swapped for a Kala KA-S. I think that my wife's less expensive Kala KA-15S has a nicer tone than mine. But yes, it's good quality. It's made of lovely wood too. A very beautiful little instrument. I recommend buying from Amazon and saving the shipping materials until you're sure you love it. Returns are free on Amazon...for a time. :)
Question: what is the quality of the handles
Answer: That's how ukuleles are suppose to be strung traditionally. Its called re-entrant and a few other stringed instruments do this as well. And most teaching material is for ukes strung that way. Don't rearrange the strings or it will be impossible to use chord the standard chord fingerings. If you want linear tuning (like on guitar) you have to by strings that say "low g" on the package. That way the finger patterns still work. But I wouldn't do this if I were a beginner because it will sound less like a traditional ukulele if you did that. Some people do that but those people are purposefully trying to create a unique sound, and they usually do it on a tenor ukulele, not soprano.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this have backpack straps or like loops to attach backpack straps to carry it on your back
Answer: I evaluated ONLY the STOTT PILATES model. I know nothing about BetterFit.
Question: How do I Change lock code
Answer: It´s very light, I would say it weights about half a kilogram
Question: can I use it like as back pack
Answer: the Pro model is stiffer/more stable than the Lite model. the Pro model appears to be designed to last longer. Until the Pro model was redesigned, it was not functional to use it around the ankles, for instance to resist abduction as the ring had no padding and had an exposed screw head that could scratch your skin.
Question: What other material is mixed in with the carbon fiber

User questions & answers

Question: Hello, i am very interested in the article, but i live in ecuador, is it possible that you are sent through fedex to my country
Answer: Sorry that I didn't respond earlier. I saw it briefly on my phone and couldn't find it again!! No, it is not wood. It is plastic but it sounds pretty good. I also have a Schreiber wooden alto recorder. Several of the group that I play with have enrolled in a Road Scholar's early music seminar at the end of October in Carmel, CA. Looking forward to it! Good luck in your recorder search.
Question: Our violin did not have directions on how to get started. Is there a manual I can request in how to set up the violin for first time
Answer: Mine did come with the clip-on thumb-rest, which is a necessity for this alto recorder.
Question: Does this violin come with a horse hair or natural hair bow
Answer: Depends. I have small to medium hands and it is a bit of a stretch to reach the last two holes comfortably. With practice I was able to do it. I like the tone of an Alto over the Soprano. For a Resin Recorder the Aulos has a good tone almost like a natural Maplewood. I use my Aulos for practice and my Mollenhauer Cherrywood for shorter playing times.
Question: I am assuming it doesn't come with the stand...where can I acquire a stand as shown or similar to it
Answer: Sorry for the delay. Just found it and it is model 209B. And it comes with the thumb rest. Hope it helps. Happy New Year!
