12 best wah bass pedals
Wah bass pedals are a popular type of effect pedal used by bass guitarists to shape and manipulate the sound of their instruments. These pedals are part of the larger family of wah filter pedals and are closely related to their counterparts designed for electric guitars.
Key features and information about wah bass pedals:
Functionality: Wah pedals, short for "wah-wah" pedals, are designed to create a distinctive sweeping or "wah" sound effect. When the pedal is rocked back and forth by the player's foot, it alters the frequency response of the bass signal, creating a vocal-like or crying sound. This effect is achieved by changing the position of a potentiometer within the pedal.
Construction: Wah bass pedals typically have a rocking pedal mechanism that allows the player to control the sweep of the filter effect. The pedal is usually made of metal or durable plastic to withstand the rigors of stage use.
Sound: The wah effect is commonly associated with funk, rock, and blues music, but it can be used in various genres. Bass players use it to add expression and dynamics to their playing, making it an essential tool in their pedalboard setup.
Signal Chain: Wah bass pedals are usually placed in the signal chain after the bass guitar and before other effects like distortion, chorus, or delay. The specific order of effects can significantly impact the resulting sound.
Power: Most wah bass pedals require a 9-volt DC power source, which can be supplied by a battery or an external power supply.
Popular Models: There are several popular wah bass pedals on the market, including the Dunlop Cry Baby Bass Wah, Morley Power Wah Fuzz, and the Electro-Harmonix Crying Bass. Each of these models offers its own unique tonal characteristics and features.
Expression Pedals: Some wah bass pedals come with built-in expression pedal functionality. These allow the player to control other parameters or effects in addition to the wah, offering even more creative possibilities.
Maintenance: Like any pedal, wah bass pedals require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes checking the potentiometer, cleaning the contacts, and ensuring the pedal's mechanical components are in good condition.
In summary, wah bass pedals are a valuable tool for bass guitarists looking to add expressiveness and unique tonal textures to their playing. They have been widely used in various music genres and are an integral part of many bassists' setups.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this pedal run on a 9volt battery? Or is it AC adapter only |
Answer: | Well that might be due to the base being a little wider than the foot part, and the fact that it's slightly tapered from front to back. Who knows what's getting measured out there?!? So, the base of the thing is 3 1/2 inches in front and 3 inches at the back. The foot pedal part is 3 inches in front and 2 1/2 inches at the heel. Hope that helps! |

User questions & answers
Question: | I typically play a baritone guitar in b standard. would this be more ideal, or a traditional cry baby |
Answer: | This will work well for baritone and regular guitar. It has a different sound on guitar than other non-bass guitar wahs. I love how gnarly it sounds for guitar and I play a 7-String. |
Question: | Is the input also stereo as well as mono for bass? In other words can I use this for stereo synths and mono bass |
Answer: | I believe it only accepts instrument cable. So to answer your question, mono only. |
Question: | Where do you place this effect in your bass pedal signal chain |
Answer: | I place it at the beginning because I want my other pedal effects applied to the wah after the wah effect. But this is preference, not requirement. This link explains bass pedal order and why preference is important. http://smartbassguitar.com/how-to-set-up-a-pedal-board-for-bassists/#.V72WeakpDqA |
Question: | Can you use bass wah pedals on standard electric guitars |
Answer: | Could you? Yes. Should you? No.... The frequency range of this wah will not work well for the range of frequencies needed for guitar. There is a WIDE range of wah pedals out there made for guitar with lots of different flavors, so there really is no need to buy a Bass Wah to try and use with guitar.... User questions & answers
Question: | Headphone capable |
Answer: | Yes very easy to clean, the basket is inside a pan and both are square, both come out when you fill the basket. For sticky items (chicken wings) I recommend buying some parchment paper with holes for air flow to put in the bottom of the basket for ease of cleaning. You can buy it on Amazon. If you use the parchment paper do not put in fryer until ready to add the food, with no food weight on the paper the air may cause it to float up to the heater (fire hazard warning) |
Question: | Can this be used for vocals |
Answer: | E2 error means you overfilled the basket. Open the basket, shake the contents or flip and resume cooking. |
Question: | How do you get the device that you plug in to play music through Zoom(such as phone) to play in stereo? I can only get mine to play mono |
Answer: | The measurements for the interior basket is 9 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 deep. According to instructions, items should be placed in a single layer. |
Question: | trying to decide which one to get... what exactly does the expression pedal do |
Answer: | Thanks for your inquiry. The temperature rang of our air fryer oven is 180℉ to 400℉, the highest temperature is 400℉. Hope that helps you. |

The 'Envelope' from MOOER is a pocket sized 'envelope filter'/'dynamic auto wah' pedal with big tone and lots of versatility. The sensitivity control allows you to dial in the effect to respond to the dynamics of your playing and the pickups of any instrument in the way you want it to. Exaggerated slap back funk, subtle sultry ambiance, static frequency filter effects and many more are all easily obtainable with this little pedal. The 100% analog circuit provides a lush warm sound and the wide range of the controls make the Envelope from MOOER ideal for use with both guitar and bass. ControlsSENSITIVITY:The sensitivity control adjusts the dynamic response of the envelope filter in relation to the input from the instrument. Clockwise makes the pedal more sensitive and responsive to pick attack and makes it easier to open the filter. Counter clockwise makes the pedal less sensitive to pick attack and makes it more difficult to open the filter. (Note: Sensitivity is set differently depending on which guitar pickups you use and what the desired response from the pedal is of the user. Recommended starting position is 12 o'clock and adjust from there accordingly.) Q:This control changes the Q of the wah effect. Clockwise will make the Q value higher providing a more narrow frequency band but a higher peak. This results in a very exaggerated and pronounced wah sound. Counterclockwise will lower the Q value, providing a wider frequency band and a lower peak. This results in a more subtle wah effect. DECAY:The Decay Control adjusts the release and closing of the filter. Clockwise gives a longer decay and counterclockwise gives a shorter decay.Note: This is also dependant on the sensitivity settings and the attack of the instrument. TONE:The tone control adjusts the overall tone and frequency range of the pedal. Clockwise will give a brighter tone and a higher frequency range. Counterclockwise will give a rounder tone and a lower frequency range. C

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it true bypass |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | How does this compare to the classic mxr envelope filter |
Answer: | I would say there are two key differences: possible user control and “cleanliness”. The classic MXR is dirty. Sound comes out distorted pretty much no matter what you do. The Mooer sound is always clean. Pair with a distortion or compressor pedal after the fact to get the grittier feel if you want it. The classic MXR lacks the range control of the Mooer. With this pedal, you can adjust the swept frequencies for ideal use with guitar or bass, as opposed to the classic, which had a distinct guitar and bass version. (I originally purchased this pedal for use with keyboard, and as long as you stay in one part of the range, it works great, but if you’re using a full keyboard, the effect is less noticeable in whichever parts of the frequency spectrums you don’t have the pedal set to.) One super minor inconvenience is that this pedal does not have the option to be battery powered. That hasn’t been a problem for me, but if you really like having a totally mobile rig, this is not a good fit. |
