Dunlop Wah Pedals are a line of popular guitar effects pedals known for their iconic wah-wah sound and their use by many legendary guitarists. These pedals fall under the category of "Wah Filter" or "Wah-Wah" pedals in the realm of electric guitar effects and amplifiers. Here's what you need to know about Dunlop Wah Pedals:

  1. Wah-Wah Effect: A wah-wah pedal is an effects pedal that alters the tone of an electric guitar in a distinctive way. When you engage the pedal by pressing down on it, it sweeps through a specific frequency range, creating a "wah" or "quacking" sound effect. This effect is often used to mimic the vocal quality of the human voice and is commonly used in rock, funk, and blues music.

  2. Dunlop's Legacy: Dunlop Manufacturing, Inc., a well-known company in the music industry, is highly regarded for its wah-wah pedals. They have produced several iconic models, including the Cry Baby series, which is famous for its unique tone and reliability. Dunlop Cry Baby pedals have been used by guitar legends like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Slash.

  3. Variety of Models: Dunlop offers a wide range of wah pedals to suit different preferences and playing styles. Some popular models include the Cry Baby GCB-95, Cry Baby Mini, Cry Baby Classic, and the Clyde McCoy Cry Baby. Each model may have distinct features, tonal characteristics, and build quality.

  4. Build and Durability: Dunlop wah pedals are known for their sturdy construction and durability. They are designed to withstand the rigors of live performances and regular use on stage or in the studio.

  5. Controls and Customization: Most Dunlop wah pedals feature a rocking pedal that controls the sweep of the effect. Some models also include additional controls for fine-tuning the tone, such as Q (bandwidth) and volume. These controls allow guitarists to customize the wah effect to their liking.

  6. Versatility: While wah pedals are commonly associated with electric guitars, they can also be used with other instruments, such as bass guitars and keyboards, to add unique textures and expressive qualities to the sound.

  7. Legacy of Innovation: Dunlop continues to innovate in the field of wah-wah pedals, periodically releasing new models and limited editions to meet the demands of modern guitarists while preserving the classic wah-wah sound.

Dunlop Wah Pedals have made a significant impact on the world of music by providing guitarists with a tool to create expressive and emotive tones. They remain a staple in the pedalboards of many guitar players and are an integral part of the electric guitar effects and amplification landscape.

Dunlop Dimebag Cry Baby From Hell Guitar Wah Effects Pedal (DB01B)

JIM DUNLOP

Based on 35 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Dimebag Darrell combined a cowboy swagger with high-gain riffs and squealing pinch harmonic-laden leads. One of the most significant elements of his sound and dynamics was the Cry baby wah, and at a time when wah pedals had fallen out of fashion, Dime flew his wah flag high. Armed with his hard-earned expertise and insight from years of touring, he helped us devise the most versatile wah in our lineup: the Dime Cry baby from Hell wah. Work on this pedal first began some 20 years ago when Dime, a long-time user of the super customizable Cry baby 535Q multi-wah, wanted even more freedom when setting up his rig on stage. Starting with the 535Q, we carried over its Q control, 6-way range selector, and adjustable kick-in boost. Next, we hot-rodded it with a wide sweep range for Dime to dig deep and fly high, A control to adjust the pedals toe-down frequency, an extra output for splitting your signal to a separate FX chain, and back-mounted LED indicators to conveniently show whether the wah is on and whether the boost is engaged. Finally, we replaced the standard rubber tread with skateboard skid tape so that your foot doesn’t slip on any spilled beverages. The Dime Cry baby from Hell wah is the ultimate wah pedal for your touring rig, and with its new black Camo finish, it’ll have you wearing a black-toothed grin in no time.

  • Choose from 6 different frequency ranges
  • Dial wah response from wide to narrow with the Q control
  • Adjustable switchable boost puts your wah sound right at the front of the mix
  • Back-mounted LEDs indicate wah & boost on/off status
  • Extra output for splitting your signal to a separate FX chain

User questions & answers

Question: Is it a true bypass
Answer: Do you play at loud enough volume to even worry about true bypass? Highly doubtful.
Question: Does this include the power supply
Answer: Short answer, no. It takes a standard 9v supply with a - center

User questions & answers

Question: Is this better than 95Q
Answer: Define better. Physically it's the same quality build. It has more features. More features is only "better" if you need the features.
Question: Does the 535Q function as a volume pedal when not in wah mode
Answer: Nope, it's a wah pedal, not a volume pedal....
Question: Has anyone been able to adjust this to go between guitar and bass? I play both for different bands and am looking for a way to carry less gear
Answer: I've tried plugging in my bass through it... it doesn't quite scoop the right frequencies for it-- sounds anemic and flat. I know Dunlop makes a bass wah pedal for this purpose if you're looking for an expression pedal. But what I like about the 535Q is that it's tailored with settings for the more advanced/professional player looking for that dynamic 'wah' sound. Sounds very warm & punchy through an EFX pedal or clean... Have fun!
Question: Does this variant have the auto heel return thing on the pedal
Answer: No, it doesn't. It operates solely by the movement of the foot rocking heel to toe. Wherever you stop your foot's movement is where the wah frequency/sweep will be set at (unless, you click down all the way on the toe end to go into bypass mode). The only pedals I know of that have the auto-return feature, is the Bad Horsie Wah by Morley and at least one other model they make. They have increased their pedal line and have a very large number of wah-wah's you might be interested in. Check out their website.

Product description

Dunlop Cry Baby Classics are so popular that in many circles, guitarists use the term "Crybaby" to describe wah pedals in general the way people use "Band-aid" and "Kleenex" for "bandage" and "tissue." Fasel Inductors

When you think about the classic wah-wah sounds of the 60s, you think about British bluesmen and psychedelic American rockers, not Italy. These inductors were the key to the pedals' tone, but have been unavailable for years. Not anymore. Your Crybaby Classic with Fasel Inside will faithfully recreate the vocal sweep and lush harmonics from those timeless recordings. Plug in your Crybaby Classic and hear what you've been missing.

User questions & answers

Question: What are the dimensions of this pedal, including the taper
Answer: Hello, As long as your pedals are not larger, in height, than a standard Wah or Volume pedal. Anything larger may cause issues when trying to zip up the case. If you have any other questions, please feel free to send them to [email protected]. Thanks!
Question: Does the boost work when the wah is not engaged? Thanks
Answer: Hello, Unfortunately, we do not have that dimension readily available. But, based on the size of our G-BUS-8-US, it looks like this may be a tight fit. We'd like to assure this though. Can you reach out to us at [email protected] with your question again? Our customer service team will be able to dig deeper and get you an assured 'yes' or 'no'. Thank you!
Question: How does this compare with the xotic xw-1 wah? they both seem pretty great, which one should i go with? thanks
Answer: I know this is a dated question but there is something you want to keep in mind with mounting a power supply underneath any board and that is whether your power supply is linear or switched mode. A lot of power supplies like Voodoo Labs are linear which means that they are more prone to cause proximity EMF interference with pedals on top of them. Digital Switched Mode power supplies like the Strymon Zuma far less prone to proximity interference so you can use them underneath with no problem. I have a Voodoo Labs Mondo and Pedal Power 2 on my Gator XL which lucky for me is a behemoth. I had no idea about linear versus switched-mode power supplies but I came across this on the Vertex Effects YouTube channel and asked the owner about mounting my power supplies underneath. He confirmed that both my supplies were linear and that I would probably run into issues if I had it mounted underneath pedals because of the magnetic field. You may not run into any issues but this is something to keep in mind when you are thinking about mounting a power supply underneath your board. If you already have an isolated linear power supply then I would recommend factoring that into the size of your board so you can mount it on top to avoid any interference.
Question: where was this item made
Answer: When I bought them in June 2018 it was a pair and the title said "stands"... not sure why it only says "stand" now.
