14 best pedal with tap tempos
Pedals with tap tempo functionality are a popular feature in the realm of electric guitar effects. These pedals provide a convenient way for musicians to synchronize time-based effects, such as delay and modulation, to the tempo of the music they are playing. Here are key points related to pedals with tap tempo:
Tap Tempo Functionality:
- The tap tempo feature allows the guitarist to set the tempo of time-based effects by tapping a button with their foot. This ensures that delay repeats, modulation rates, and other time-related effects match the rhythm of the music.
Synchronization of Effects:
- Pedals with tap tempo are commonly used with delay pedals, where it's crucial to sync the delay time with the tempo of the song. This synchronization creates a more musical and cohesive sound.
Versatility:
- Tap tempo is not limited to delay effects. It can also be applied to other time-based effects such as tremolo, chorus, flanger, and more. This adds versatility to a guitarist's sound palette.
Integration in Multieffects Units:
- Many floor multieffects units, which combine multiple effects into a single pedalboard-friendly unit, include pedals with tap tempo. This allows guitarists to control various effects with synchronized timing from a centralized unit.
Expression Pedal Compatibility:
- Some pedals with tap tempo also allow for connection to an expression pedal. This enables real-time control over certain parameters, providing an extra layer of dynamic expression during a performance.
LED Indicator:
- Pedals with tap tempo often feature an LED indicator that flashes in sync with the tapped tempo. This visual feedback helps musicians ensure they are in time with the music.
Presets and Memory Banks:
- Advanced multieffects units with tap tempo often come with preset storage and memory banks. This allows guitarists to save and recall different combinations of effects and tempo settings for different songs or sections within a song.
Placement in Pedalboard Setup:
- Pedals with tap tempo are strategically placed in a guitarist's pedalboard setup to ensure easy access during a performance. This may involve placing it close to other time-based effects for efficient foot control.
Live Performance Benefits:
- The tap tempo feature is particularly valuable in a live performance setting where the tempo of songs can vary. It allows for on-the-fly adjustments, ensuring that time-based effects stay in sync with the band.
Popular Brands:
- Various pedal manufacturers, including industry leaders such as Boss, Strymon, TC Electronic, and Eventide, offer pedals with tap tempo functionality. Each brand may provide unique features and sound options.
Guitarists appreciate pedals with tap tempo for their ability to enhance the musicality of their performance, providing precise control over time-based effects in real-time. This feature has become a standard in many modern pedal designs, catering to the needs of both studio and live musicians.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this replace the mxr m199 tap tempo for the mxr echoplex delay pedal |
Answer: | Yes, because the default setting of an MXR Echoplex and MXR Tap is Tip-to-Ground. You CANNOT use this with a TC Electronics Flashback 2 without opening the case and soldering the wires in reverse; Flashback 2 requires Ring-to-ground. |
Question: | Do you know if this would work on a Mooer Ocean Machine to control master tempo |
Answer: | Not familiar with that product, but it "should" work with anything that uses a non-latching switch (i.e., does not click on/click off) with a 1/4" input. |
Question: | Is this output trs (tip ring sleeve) or is it ts (tip sleeve) only |
Answer: | Tip sleeve only. Mono cable |
Question: | Will this work with a boss dd7 delay pedal |
Answer: | Sort of. Boss pedals use normally-closed switches, so this will work, but the Boss will count the time between releases and not presses, which can be less accurate. |
Question: | What, $199? My Bad Monkey cost less than $50 new, what''s the story here |
Answer: | Great pedal, great reputation, discontinued two years ago. Yes, they were $49.95 new, but new ones are all gone. This is the world of pedals, discontinue it and then everyone wants one, go figure? I have this last new one, the previous new one sold for $179. Your used one, if clean, is worth more than you paid for it new. Keep it and watch the used price as it keeps going up. Boss just discontinued the '63 Fender reverb pedal which was mediocre, after they discontinued it, it soared to $299 for new ones, check it out. Buy discontinued pedals for a good investment. |
Question: | How is this pedal with bass guitar |
Answer: | Not sure why someone would need a boost pedal for bass. This is a pedal designed to boost or overdrive a tube amp with minimal color. I have one and it works great. I guess it could be used with a bass for articulation enhancement or drive during certain song sections. |
Question: | is it a true paypass pedal |
Answer: | This pedal is not true by-pass, but it is great pedal and one of Digitech's highest selling pedals. |
Question: | Hi, is that the usa made or chinese made bad monke?. tia |
Answer: | Although DigiTech is in Sandy, Utah, my Bad Monkey says it was made in China |

User questions & answers
Question: | What 9v power adapter do you recommend |
Answer: | ISpot is a good basic 9v... If you're using multiple pedals you can usually Daisy chain 2-3 w/o line hum. If running many pedals you may need a true isolated power supply to avoid line noise/him. I will say it's a pretty good little pedal for the price (and easy to squeeze into a tight pedal board) |
Question: | Would anyone know and confirm if this is analog or digital delay. how long is the delay time in ms? what about the reverb, is it spring or hall |
Answer: | delay is advertised as digital, but there is a degrading echo. to me, it sounds more analog. a digital echo will repeat just like the original sound. this pedal doesn't do that. reverb can be set short like a room, or long like a hall. it doesn't have a spring reverb sound. the way the pedal is setup, the delay is fed into the reverb when both are on. it sounds very good for a $60 pedal. |
Question: | Will this add reverb to voice for beater sounding karaoke |
Answer: | Most, if not all, pedals for guitar can be used with a 1/4 " jack microphone. The question left is: Is the microphone powered?, does it need a preamp?, or does it create a strong enough signal? Donner has a less expensive reverb that I will reccomend for karaoke. Just find one decent setting and keep it hidden from the singers. |
Question: | Can you use the reverb and delay at the same time |
Answer: | Yes... Nice little pedal for the price. It also has a separate footswitch for each function - Rev and Delay. I have it on a pedal board alongside Boss and other pedals and it is also nice with a smaller footprint. Only thing is you have to have a 9v power supply for it since it has no internal battery capabilities. I have a couple other Dinner mini pedals too (compressor and a noise gate) and they are pretty good, especially for the price |

User questions & answers

Answer: | Hello! We use microbial enzymes to produce this cheese product (versus an animal-based rennet). We hope this helps! |
Question: | If you tap in a tempo, how can you "save setting" so that when the delay is turned off and back on again, it doesn't revert to a uber-long delay time |
Answer: | Hello! This product does not contain carrageenan. In fact, all Organic Valley products are free of carrageenan. |
Question: | the sounds, of the guitar, stops for a while when you turn it on |
Answer: | Hello! There are 6g total fat (including 4g saturated fat) per 1 slice serving. We hope this helps! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the current draw |
Answer: | I’m sorry, I did not keep this delay/reverb as it was very noisy and wrote that I believe it needed some filtering in it. I remember it is 9 volt but don’t remember the current draw. I use “True Tone” power w/filtering. Try a True Tone power rating if you don’t have a meter. For your best. R- |
Question: | Does it come with a cable and 9v adapter |

NUX Loop Core Looper Effects Pedal with Tap Tempo Bundle with Blucoil Slim 9V 670ma Power Supply AC Adapter, 2-Pack of Pedal Patch Cables, and 4-Pack of Celluloid Guitar Picks
and if warranty is what concerns you most, then go for the Boss.
That being said, the NUX Loop Core is more comparable to the Boss RC-3 than the RC-1. The RC-3 is around 189.00. So, bang for the buck, feature wise, the NUX wins hands down. The NUX has a 6 hour recording time, 99 slots to save in, 40 rhythm tracks to play along with and on and on. The RC-1 is a basic looper which records for only 12 minutes. If that's all you want you can find cheaper pedals that do the same, or again, pay more for the "long warranty". How likely is it that any of these pedals will fail?
Also consider, with the NUX you do get 90 days warranty direct from Amazon. Check the listing. They'll take care of you if you have problems during that time. Buy a warranty or buy features, up to you. This may not be much help, but if you want more info on the NUX warranty I'd suggest contacting them directly. It's a shame they don't provide such info.

Answer
Normally I do not answer a product question with "I do not know", however I will make an exception here. I am unable to find Any information about NUX product warranty. Amazon tells you to check the manufacturers web-site. NUX does not say anything about warranty that I can find. If that scares you off, then don't buy it. Boss is a more well known Brand Name and if warranty is what concerns you most, then go for the Boss.
