12 best boss wah pedals
Boss wah pedals refer to a category of guitar effects pedals produced by Boss, a well-known brand in the music industry. These wah pedals are designed to modulate the guitar signal, creating a distinctive and expressive "wah" sound that is a characteristic element in many genres of music. Here are some key points related to Boss wah pedals:
1. Expression Pedal Design:
- Boss wah pedals typically come in the form of an expression pedal. This means that, unlike traditional stompbox-style pedals, these pedals have a foot-operated rocker or lever that guitarists can use to control the wah effect in real-time.
2. Wah Effect:
- The wah effect is achieved by altering the frequency response of the guitar signal. When the expression pedal is rocked forward or backward, it sweeps through a range of frequencies, creating a dynamic and vowel-like sound that is often used for soloing or adding expressive elements to guitar playing.
3. Versatility:
- Boss wah pedals are designed to be versatile, suitable for various musical styles. They can be used in clean tones, distorted tones, or anywhere in between, making them a valuable addition to a guitarist's effects arsenal.
4. Durability:
- Boss is known for producing durable and rugged pedals. Wah pedals, being part of the Boss lineup, are typically built to withstand the rigors of live performances and regular use.
5. Compact and Robust:
- Boss wah pedals are known for their compact and robust design. This makes them suitable for pedalboards, and their solid construction ensures they can handle the demands of stage and studio environments.
6. Compatibility:
- Boss wah pedals are designed to be compatible with various setups. They can be used with electric guitars, multi-effects processors, and amplifiers, providing flexibility for different guitar rigs.
7. Control Options:
- These wah pedals often feature additional controls that allow users to tailor the wah effect to their preferences. This may include adjustable parameters such as the frequency range of the wah sweep.
8. Integration with Multi-Effects Processors:
- Boss wah pedals can be integrated into larger setups that include multi-effects processors. This allows guitarists to combine wah with other effects for a more comprehensive and customizable sound.
9. Popular Models:
- Boss has produced several wah pedals over the years, each with its own characteristics. Popular models include the PW-3 Wah and the AW-3 Auto Wah, each offering unique features and sonic possibilities.
In summary, Boss wah pedals are expressive and versatile effects pedals that provide guitarists with the ability to create the classic "wah" sound. They are known for their durability, compact design, and compatibility with various musical setups. As with any musical equipment, it's recommended to refer to the official Boss website or product manuals for specific details and features of individual wah pedal models.

PW-3 Wah Pedal
Unlike other pedals that sacrifice feel and functionality when trimmed down in size, the PW-3 strikes the perfect balance between practicality and playability. Its die-cast aluminum chassis is solid and substantial underfoot, and the long, smooth pedal action is highly responsive and feels great. Another issue with downsized pedals is that it’s hard to see when the effect is on or off, because your foot blocks the view. The PW-3 solves this with status LEDs on each side of the pedal, making it much easier to see when the wah is activated.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this better than 95Q |
Answer: | Define better. Physically it's the same quality build. It has more features. More features is only "better" if you need the features. |
Question: | Does the 535Q function as a volume pedal when not in wah mode |
Answer: | Nope, it's a wah pedal, not a volume pedal.... |
Question: | Has anyone been able to adjust this to go between guitar and bass? I play both for different bands and am looking for a way to carry less gear |
Answer: | I've tried plugging in my bass through it... it doesn't quite scoop the right frequencies for it-- sounds anemic and flat. I know Dunlop makes a bass wah pedal for this purpose if you're looking for an expression pedal. But what I like about the 535Q is that it's tailored with settings for the more advanced/professional player looking for that dynamic 'wah' sound. Sounds very warm & punchy through an EFX pedal or clean... Have fun! |
Question: | Does this variant have the auto heel return thing on the pedal |
Answer: | No, it doesn't. It operates solely by the movement of the foot rocking heel to toe. Wherever you stop your foot's movement is where the wah frequency/sweep will be set at (unless, you click down all the way on the toe end to go into bypass mode). The only pedals I know of that have the auto-return feature, is the Bad Horsie Wah by Morley and at least one other model they make. They have increased their pedal line and have a very large number of wah-wah's you might be interested in. Check out their website. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it fit on most pedal boards |
Answer: | It is the full size. I have put one on my boards. It is on the heavy side, so be prepared for the weight. Most players put it on the right side of the board and use their right foot. |
Question: | Hello! as never bought the site , i wonder how much is charged to deliver in brazil (freight + tax) ? it's all calculated upon purchase |
Answer: | Sorry We don't ship to Brazil |
Question: | If I buy this, would I have to buy anything else for it to function |
Answer: | You need to buy a power source which is either an adapter or a 9 volt battery. I went for the battery, so it's not a big of an issue, just the battery will do it. In the box, there's no battery included. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the usb port mean it has interface capabilities (can i record with it without an audio interface to pc |
Answer: | The PC recognizes the USB connection as a MIDI interface, which can be used to switch between patches. |
Question: | Can you delete only the previous loop that you recorded instead of the whole loop |
Answer: | No you can not delete part of a loop. In some other loopers you can undo one or more previous loops, but with the G1on you can not. When you delete a loop that was made on top of a a rhythm loop all the loops get deleted. It kind of sucks! This is about the only fault I can find w/ the G1on. |
Question: | I just bought a digitech-360 and found out i can't use the looper with the drum machine.. can you use the drums with the looper on this unit |
Answer: | Yes you can select a drum pattern and start playing it, then switch to looper mode and record while playing to the drum sounds. The drum sounds don't get recorded though, but you can play to the beat unlike the digitech 360. |
Question: | whats the difference between this and spending hundreds on different pedals |
Answer: | Lol! A lot, and not that much. This makes for an excellent practice pedal/tone lab. It's perfect for trying out different sounds and pedal combos and learning about basic signal path for FX. Some people even gig with this unit, though the G3X and G5X are considered more "Pro. Grade" though they have basically the same FX engine. Picking, buying, and building your own custom boutique pedal board is also rewarding and can provide some more unique and better quality FX... But you can literally spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Plus you'll need to try out the different pedals and build out a board. But individual pedals does give you flexibility DURING a performance. Note that the G1Xon has only two stomps and a wah. (Look at the manual, it's more complicated than that.) But basically (tl:dr) if you already know what sounds you want and you're a professional, spend hundreds on different pedals. If you want to experiment with different tone/FX and are primarily rehearsing and doing house of worship & coffee houses, buy the G1Xon. |

Answer: | Standard. |
Question: | What if the cry baby pedal is not working |
Answer: | Make sure that the cables are plug into the right inputs, if that doesn't work check to see if the battery is dead, or if you are using a 9V AC Adapter make sure that the polarity is set to the proper settings if it is required. User questions & answers
Question: | I mostly get a whooshing noise from some of my pedals. Is this something that can fix that |
Answer: | now when you say whooshing is it something that switching the pickup position or messing with/ turning off certain pedals fixes? Because if it's the guitar then you can re-solder everything and see if that changes anything, but if it's the pedals, and this one specifically try turning the threshold and decay in towards each other so the lines line up and go from there, but just mess your pedals a bunch and see if anything happens. If worse comes to worse open whatever pedals make that noise and see if you can clean the boards out, dust can make all the difference sometimes |
Question: | I get a lot of feedback while playing. Can this pedal decrease the f.back? Thanks |
Answer: | Yes, it definetely can decrease the feedback, even if you playing loud in a 100 watts head, which is my case. I totally recommend this pedal!! cheers |
Question: | Will this help with single coil feedback played through a tube amp |
Answer: | It should reduce all line noise, period, coming from your guitar INTO the amp. I assume you're talking about the 60 cycle hum from something like a single coil Strat/Tele. Since that is going through the line INTO the amp, I think you will find improvements with this. The NS-2 is a widely-respected pedal even used by many pros. Just keep in mind, the noise doesn't magically disappear. You have to attenuate it which means it might be a trade off on volume or sustain. My experience has been, though, that the loss of volume/sustain is VERY small in proportion to the amount of noise reduction. It's a great pedal. |
Question: | Where to put it? It does a great job but, when using the MXR Blue Box, it kills it entirely. Do I need to bypass it entirely to use that effect |
Answer: | Boss recommends :The Effects ChainSet up your effects chain in its usual configuration.Remove any delay and reverb pedals from the effects chain. I don't have my Delay in the chain and works well. I have 5 pedals in the chain with the NS-2 and the delay outside the chain. Be sure to loop, with cable , from NS-2 "send" back to the first pedal. Then use NS-2 "Output" to the Delay or reverb. Hope this helpsI am not familiar with the MXR Blue Box but if you follow the instructions it should work or take the Blue Box out of the chain like you would with the delay. |

However you like to route your signal, the Terraform has you covered.
