User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a 220 volts |
Answer: | The one I have is with the 120 volt power supply. You may be able to use an adapter though. |
Question: | Will this work with the Line 6 G30 transmitter |
Answer: | Yes, mine works with the Line 6 G30 transmitter |
Question: | Are all 15 amps selectable at the amp or do you need the phone app to access the other amps |
Answer: | I believe you can select the options at the amp. I’ve had one for years and all options are on the amp. This amp you have is far more advanced than mine. Great amps! |
Question: | can i plug my guitar in directly to the amp or does it only work with a wireless connection |
Answer: | Yes you can plug the amp directly into a wall outlet and use it like a regular amp or plug it in just long enough to charge the amp and then unplug the cord for wireless use. So you can use the amp both ways. The amp does have more power (louder) with it’s plugged in to an outlet. Also you can use a standard guitar jack to plug the guitar into the amp or I purchased a Line 6 (Yamaha) wireless adapter so no cord needed. It’s matched for this amplifier. I paid $99 for it and it recharges right in the amp then simply plug into the guitar and you are totally wireless. The Bluetooth feature let’s you play backing tracks from your phone, tablet or computer from your music app or YouTube. Hope this helps! |

The Third Amp
Guitarists are familiar with the tube amp stacks that sound amazing when turned up loud on a big stage, and with combo amps that are a perfect fit for smaller venues and rehearsal. THR ignored the convention that a practice amp should simply be a smaller version of a larger amp, creating a new “third amp” category designed around what players need when they’re playing at home.
Fully-Wireless Experience
All THR-II models feature Bluetooth connectivity for audio playback, the “THR Remote” mobile editor app, and third-party footswitch support.
THR10II Wireless and THR30II Wireless also feature a built-in rechargeable battery and Line 6 wireless receiver. Just grab your THR, your guitar and a Line 6 Relay G10T transmitter (sold separately), and play anywhere your music takes you.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I plug in my acoustic electric guitar to get distortion effects, like crunch etc, or does that work only with electric guitars |
Answer: | Hi there. The answer is yes. Since to guitar is using a some type of pickup system which require a battery/s the Yamaha amp will work. I have done the same thing using an electro-acoustic guitar. Remember though the degree of church and or distortion is determined by two things. The type of pickups being used and the GAIN setting on both the guitar and amplifier. This will take a bit of experimenting before you find the kind of sound you're looking for. Good luck. SMINC |
Question: | What is the batrery life like on the thr |
Answer: | 8 Duracell AA batteries 2500mah enough for 10-12 hours of playing |
Question: | Is 2 small speakers superior to one larger? Thanku |
Answer: | That would depend on THE VENUE and what is REQUIRED... |
Question: | Is this plug in and batteries |
Answer: | It runs from batteries, but very power hungry. The mains DC adaptor is unique to Yamaha and the charge over £40 for it. My suggestion. Avoid this product and buy a small VOX battery amp like the VOX mini 3, better sound and lasts all day on one set of better use also has mains adaptor. Hope this helps people. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work with the yamaha yev-10x violin? between thr10ii and thr5a which one gives the better sound quality if connected to a yev violin |
Answer: | I remember way back when I was in my first band. I had an ampeg B-15 and it was woefully underpowered. All I got out of it was a ton of distortion. It can be very frustrating for a new player to have to deal with poor sound. I’ve known guys who have given up playing because of the frustration of dealing with noise instead of music. I would use a 25w amp for practicing by myself but for a garage band I would go with a minimum of 100w. |
Question: | What's the total power of this amp |
Answer: | I turned mine upside down and it still worked so I suppose it will be OK down there. (On mine, input power is marked 100-120V @ 50-60 HZ, 70W.) |
Question: | Would this do well as an acoustic amp, as well as an electric |
Answer: | I don't see why not. As long as the input is via a 1/4 inch mono plug. It is an amazing little practice amp but don't expect it to reproduce the sounds like a more powerfulamp and 12 inch speaker. |
Question: | What's the difference between this model and the wl model that's $150 more? i can find no info on yamaha website on what wl mean, etc; thanks |
Answer: | If you are expecting any kind of real bass feel, this amp won't give it to you. I would rather spend the money on a bass-buddy, it's like a little personal guitar amp. It clips to your belt and you plug your guitar in and then slip on the headphones. For the bass, it gives you several bass setups like 'slap' or 'fretless' . If you don't want to use headphones, run the headphone jack from the bass buddy into a stereo input and you'll find a better sound. |

Question: | What are the interior dimensions? (I'm hoping to use this for a tubemeister |
Answer: | As I am not at home for two weeks, I cannot answer in exact messures: grom left to right the bag fits exactly the amp THR10x (which is longer than other THRs). From front to back it offers space for a guit cable AND a Moleskine notebok. The additional bags in front an to both sides are generous. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Will this be allowed to use to house a yamaha thr10 for carry on to a plane |

Question: | What class amp does this have |
Answer: | Solid state 20 watt amp, great sound out of a little amp! |
Question: | can i gig with this? if it is not loud enough for big halls, can i plug this into a cab? Does that make it louder? please help |
Answer: | I would say no, too. Gigging is not what this amp is designed for. There is a larger version of this amp (THR 100) that is made for gigging, but this amp is not your best choice. From Yamaha's promotional material this is a third (THR) amp for guitarists. Not for gigging or even band practice really but mostly private practice and recording ideas. Could a person mic it to a PA system and make it louder? Yes, but that is not the sweet spot for this amp. Yet for its purpose it's a nice amp. |
Question: | what colouris this, does it come inside the bag |
Answer: | Different colors depending on the model, from a vintage brown to a dark green, the bag could be included or not depending the package that you bought |
Question: | Yamaha spec state thr10c different size. why |
Answer: | Would generally believe the specs you find here - https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/amps_accessories/thr/specs.html#product-tabs Amazon specs may sometimes reference the shipping box size - rather than the actual unit. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a recommended transportation case for the thr100hd head |
Answer: | Yes, Yamaha makes a padded soft case Model number is THRHBG1. |
Question: | Speaker config for thr100 dual? looks like i would need two speakers (ie 2x12" cabinet in stereo or two 1x12" extension cabs) to use both amps |
Answer: | Either way works. Consult the manual for different configurations to match. |
Question: | Is the thr100hd really 100 watts or are they playing games with the specs? 100 watts should be insanely loud yet some say it isn't loud enough |
Answer: | Solid state vs tube watts are different. 100 watts of solid state amplification is closer to 20w to 30w tube |
Question: | Are you stuck with the five amps that are in there, or can you load other amps via the editor |
Answer: | only have the 5 amp models to choose from But dont let that deter you. there are multiple tube types to choose from for each amp type, as well as 3 programmable boosts and reverbs.. think of each of amp type as a blank canvas. you have a base color to play with. but you can bob ross style paint happy little tones to each one. the editor controls your DI impulse responses, the boosts and reverbs. this is a very versatile amplifier. i definitely suggest getting the 212 matching cabinet. the stereo feature is amazing. you have a plethora of color and tone combinations with this unit. |

Yamaha THR Head Modeling Amplifier
Finding the perfect tone is a journey. Searching for boutique pedals, making custom cables, swapping out speakers, experimenting with different tubes. Each step a discovery that leads down a new creative path. With THR amp heads, Yamaha has designed innovative, flexible amplifiers that will play an integral role in your sonic journey to find that perfect sound.
A great amp always has a certain something. More than just great tone, it has dynamics that breathe life into every note and give punch to every chord. With THR amp heads, Yamaha’s engineers have captured the component level interaction between the speakers and the power amp (the murky world known as the damping factor) and tuned it to perfection, achieving a new level of performance excellence, even at low volumes. Don’t worry about hearing the difference, you’ll feel it as soon as you plug in and play.
At Home
Guitarists demand great tone from an amp regardless of whether they're playing at home or on stage. THR amp heads reproduce this tone accurately even when heard at low volume through headphones, and deliver impressive sound pressure along with response and dynamics that will inspire any guitarist. Try this all-new way of creating a sound that's all your own.
On the Road
From home to the stage. THR amp heads make it easy for you to take your own carefully-crafted sound up on stage with you. THR amp heads tip the scales at under 5kg. We guarantee you’ve never come across an amp as lightweight and compact that sounds like such a heavyweight.
On Stage
Belying their awesome tone, stage-ready volume and the playing experience of an amp full of glass tubes and transformers. Enjoy impressive sound pressure, dynamics, response and outstanding compatibility with effects pedals, and experience that instant when your expressive capabilities are transformed directly into sound.
Classic Control
The controls on THR amp heads go back to basics for quick, easy manipulation of your sound. An instantly familiar control layout along with intuitive response and interaction thanks to VCM's component modeling, means that dialing in your sound is exactly like you expect it to be. No menus, no options, no hidden functions. Just plug in and play.
5 Amp Types
Whether you use pedals for your overdrive or just crank up your volume control, one great amp sound is where it all starts. Sometimes though, you want to take your sound in a new direction with something just a little different. The THR head features five distinct custom amp types from solid state through to modified high-gain, all tuned to sound amazing whether you want to get your drive from a pedal or your amp.
5 Tube Types
THR amp heads feature VCM simulation that allows you to pick from five classic tube types for any amp model with nothing more than the flick of a switch on the rear panel. You can even choose from the smooth compression, soft touch and old-school distortion of class A, or the tight bass response, greater headroom and increased dynamics of class A/B for each tube type.
Speaker Impulse Response
Any amp only sounds as good as the last link in the signal chain– and in a great sounding rig, that’s usually a cabinet and microphone. THR amp heads use impulse response speaker simulation to drive a DI tone that’s indistinguishable from a perfectly mic’d cabinet. With simulations of a range of industry-standard cabinets and mics available via a USB connection with your PC, THR amp heads give you a host of options straight out of the box.
Hi Res Direct Connectivity
THR amp heads are equipped with XLR line outputs for connection to professional recording or live sound equipment. The speaker outputs don’t even need a dummy load, so you can disconnect your speakers for silent recording or on-stage performance without having to worry about damage to your amp.
Utility Software
THR amp heads come equipped with USB functionality that lets you connect to your computer for quick and easy configuration of the on-board reverb and booster effects, switching between serial and parallel effects setups, and uploading of IR data files.
Boost Function
THR amp heads come equipped with an assignable booster that can be engaged direct from the amp or via the dedicated footswitch. With 3 incredible sounding VCM boosters, from a clean solo boost to a smooth overdrive, all selectable via the optional utility software, the THR’s boost function is ready to push your tone to the next level, right when you need it.
Footswtich Bundled
An included dedicated footswitch is available for each model, giving you the control you need at home, in the studio or on-stage. With access to boost, reverb and FX Loop functions, plus A/B/A+B switching for THR100H Dual, everything’s right where you need it. Industry-standard 5-pin DIN MIDI connectors even allow you to replace and extend the cable easily and cost-effectively.
Perfectly Matched Cabinets
Almost all of the classic tube sounds of the last few decades have been a product of the synergy between a high-quality amp head and a dedicated speaker cabinet designed to complement the unique sonic characteristics of the amp. The THRC112/THRC212 are no different, and have been crafted and tuned specifically to accommodate the versatile amp, speaker, and valve simulations of THR amp heads.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this an adult size guitar? is it light |
Answer: | The package says that it has a Yamaha PAC012, which I bought recently for my 10 year old daughter who is a new player. It is a full sized guitar, but not too big for a young player to start with. It is also not too heavy and its comfortable to hold. It has been a very good starter guitar for her. We bought only the guitar, not the package. Here is the guitar listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002GZWZ0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
Question: | Does the back of the guitar also have sunburst? Or is it flat black |
Answer: | The back also has sunburst. It's an exceptionally well-crafted, beautifully finished guitar. |
Question: | Can you use this guitar to play music like centuries from fall out boys all the way to more than a feeling from boston |
Answer: | It will do anything a Fender Stratocaster will do. More Than A Feeling used a heavily processed guitar sound, as I recall. I don't know if this type of guitar will nail that sound, but you can probably come close. The issue is going to be the effects you add. I don't know the Fall Out Boys music so I have no comment about that. |
Question: | Where do put the battery in the guitar |
Answer: | There's no battery. |
