6 best station

Station, when related to TV and movies, is not a term commonly associated with a specific film or TV show However, "station" can be used in a general sense to refer to a television station or broadcasting station, which is a set of equipment that generates and broadcasts TV programs for viewers.

There are many television stations around the world, each broadcasting their own set of programs which might include news, movies, TV series, and other types of content. Depending on the country, these stations might be part of larger broadcasting networks.

If you're referring to something specific that has come up after 2021, or a term that may have a niche or specific meaning in the realm of movies or TV, we might not have that in my current knowledge base. But based on what you've provided, that's the general idea of "station" in relation to TV and movies.

Product description

Academy Award® winner Helen Mirren (Best Actress, The Queen, 2006) and Christopher Plummer star in this compelling look at the final days of literary icon Leo Tolstoy. Having renounced his title and property, Tolstoy makes plans to donate his royalties to the Russian People, supported by his trusted disciple Chertkov (Paul Giamatti). Tolstoy's outraged wife wages a one-woman war to challenge her husband's outrageous act of idealism. Co-starring Golden Globe® nominee James McAvoy (Best Actor - Drama, Atonement, 2008) as the novelist's worshipful assistant whose romance with a free-spirited young woman puts Tolstoy's notion of ideal love to the ultimate test.

Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer, and James McAvoy lead an impeccable cast in The Last Station, a sweet comedy-drama about the final days of the Russian novelist Tolstoy. Nineteenth-century paparazzi lurk outside of Tolstoy's estate, hoping to snatch a picture of the rumored strife between the world-famous writer (Plummer, The Insider), who's launched an antimaterialist movement, and his aristocratic wife, Sofya (Mirren, The Queen). Also lurking is Tolstoy's aide, Chertkov (Paul Giamatti, Sideways), who despises Sofya and pushes to change Tolstoy's will to prevent Sofya from inheriting the royalties from Tolstoy's books. Into this nest of conflict comes a young secretary, Valentin (McAvoy, Atonement), who idolizes Tolstoy and strives to live by the principles of abstinence and vegetarianism… only to find his purity tested by sensual temptations (including a headstrong young woman played by Kerry Condon of Rome) and an unexpected sympathy for Sofya. Moments of sly comedy keep The Last Station from becoming overly literary. The movie as a whole lacks the emotional punch it reaches for, but every scene is a polished jewel, expertly and passionately crafted by the actors and writer-director Michael Hoffman (A Midsummer Night's Dream), rich with feeling and social detail. Mirren, of course, is superb, with a wonderful portrayal of a woman who can't help turning her genuine passions into a performance that repels her husband. --Bret Fetzer

Product description

"Live" was recorded on their spring 2002 tour and includes versions of classic AKUS songs such as "When You Say Nothing At All", "Baby, Now That I've Found You", "The Lucky One" and "Down By The River To Pray" from the "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.

If you love concert DVDs that offer first-rate music, excellent sound and picture, a beautiful setting, and substantial bonus features, then Alison Krauss and Union Station Live is destined to become your new favorite. It's not just for bluegrass fans either, as proven by Krauss's crossover success on the smash soundtrack of O Brother, Where Art Thou? as well as her pop-oriented hits such as "Now That I've Found You." That song plus "The Lucky One," "When You Say Nothing at All," and others are the perfect showcase for Krauss's meltingly gorgeous voice, and admirers of the concert's two-CD set will also find out how funny she is in her between-songs banter. AKUS has never been all about Krauss, however, so there are also instrumental jams plus featured spots for other members, including Dan Tyminski on O Brother's rousing "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow."

The second DVD offers 50 minutes of interviews in which all five members plus drummer Larry Atamanuik discuss their influences, their instruments, and their favorite songs. There's also backstage and road footage, baby pictures, and more. Perhaps the only disappointment is that two songs from the CDs are not included in the concert: "Down to the River to Pray," which is heard over the end credits but not shown on stage--presumably because the CD version was not taken from this 2002 Louisville show--and "There Is a Reason." --David Horiuchi

WAITING AT THE STATION (The DVD): Meditations on the Mysteries of the Stations of the Cross [based on St. John Paul II's Scriptural Way of the Cross]

Based on 2 reviews Check latest price

Product description

This artful and captivating DVD is a multi-media version of the original book, Waiting at the Station. Michael Kelly Blanchard's original songs are accompanied by exquisite video enhancements of Steve Hawley's original paintings. Both the paintings and the songs spring to life through the artistry of videographer-orchestrator Jon Couch. As with the original book, the Waiting at the Station DVD features fourteen canvases and songs with accompanying scriptures and reflections, one for each of the 14 Stations. "We envision them," explain the artists, "as meditative springboards for the imagination of believers -- a spiritual catalyst, we hope, expanding the rich benefits of remembering anew our Lord's Passion and Death."

Review

Featuring the extraordinary labors of three talented artists, the Waiting at the Station DVD offers a profound presentation of Pope John Paul's Scriptural Way of the Cross. Painter Steve Hawley, singer/songwriter Michael Kelly Blanchard, and orchestrator Jon Couch have created a powerful spiritual experience that emerged from their wonderfully woven collaboration.

We in The Attic Studio have been privileged to play a role in the production of the Waiting at the Station DVD. In an earlier project, inspired by John Paul II during his papacy, we received a wonderfully encouraging letter on behalf of the Pope from his personal secretary, Bishop Dziwisz. Praising our "artistically designed" work, he observed, "There are so many ways to bring the Lord into our lives. Steeped in your art, you have been able to bring out the beauty of the Lord for us through your craft." ... We couldn't think of a more perfect description of the Waiting at the Station DVD! --Attic Studio Press, Clinton Corners, NY

We Are Here...

The Waiting at the Station DVD offers a compelling invitation to an intense journey. A journey which originally took place 2000 years ago. A journey captured vividly in the words of Pope John Paul II spoken as he led the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday in 2000 at the Roman Colosseum. The Pope's words, offered at the outset of the video, serve to introduce the engaging experience of the 14 Stations:

"We are here because we are convinced that the Way of the Cross of the Son of God was not simply a journey to the place of execution. We believe that every step of the Condemned Christ, every action and every word, as well as everything felt and done by those who took part in this tragic drama, continues to speak to us." --Words of Pope John Paul II courtesy of the Vatican © 2000 Libreria Editrice Vaticana.
