User questions & answers

Question: I have a drive wheelchair now for my husband new pad and swing out footrests the problem is I need a chair that measures 28 inches from the outside
Answer: the main frame is steel
Question: How is this chair in the grass? Not long distance, just in my yard
Answer: Hi! The wheels are rubber, it is fairly easy to roll around yourself. I don't fold it up, my Husband does and he says it is one of the lightest wheelchairs he has held. I don't know the exact weight, sorry. Since this chair is for an elderly person, I would recommend a wheelchair WITHOUT the "desk design". "Desk Design" is when the arms are indented to fit under a desk. I actually wish I had bought my chair with "regular" arms, no indent. These kind of arms: http://www.amazon.com/Invacare-LightWeight-Wheelchair-Swingaway-Footrest-Blue/dp/B0009G6W8E/ref=sr_1_48?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1398549667&sr=1-48&keywords=medline+wheelchairs
Question: can a person when sitting move chair around by themsleves
Answer: I have had to use the handles to raise the front end because there is no tilt bar. I have only had to do that twice. One it worked great and the last time I ended up turning the chair around and backing over a door threshold. Hope this helps.
Question: Would this be appropriate for a 235 lb person
Answer: Janice, it's weight is 43 lb as you see it on the picture. Putting it in the car trunk can be a little difficult task, depends on the physical capability of the person and accessibility to the car trunk. Handling on the floor is no problem. I am 72 year old man and did not have a problem loading it to the car. I hope this info will help. I have no complain so far about this product, but this wheelchair is the first I have owned and second I have used.

User questions & answers

Question: is the frame made of aluminum
Answer: largest seat
Question: Are the wheels rubber or plastic, what does the chair weigh is it easy for a elderly person to maneuver themselves and does it fold up easily
Answer: This chair is good. Light weight for me to pick up and put in the car, easy to push, but it is made for a person up to 350 lbs ao it has a wide seat. You might want something smaller.
Question: Does it have a tilt bar in back to help the person pushing tip up the front wheels for going over bumps
Answer: Don't know about returning it but its a great chair and so easy to get in and out of the car. Soooo much better than a wheel chair.
Question: how much does it weight
Answer: I bought it for my 80-year-old aunt on the premise that it was about 15 pounds. I did not weigh it myself but I did have occasion to put it in my SUV about ten times in one day when I went to visit her. I am 66 and had no problem with it. I will say that she is the youngest of her friends who are transporting her around while her broken left foot and right ankle heal. She's says they are able to lift it quite well and, of course, my aunt is thrilled to be able to continue going out with the girls. I also bought this chair for another 70ish gal so that she can transport her 94-year-old mom. She is so happy to have the transport chair as it is much lighter than her mother's walker. Being able to push her mother in and out of stores and doctor's appointments is so much faster and safer than the walker--especially when the weather is bad. I hope this has been helpful!

User questions & answers

Question: overall distance
Answer: Ours is Navy blue, quite dark. We have also added a wheelchair cushion makes it more comfy.
Question: How well can it be pushed over carpet
Answer: Slowing on an incline only... there's no way to lock out the wheels without standing behind it and holding the hand brakes :(
Question: Does this item have removable desk-style arms? What is the overall width of the chair when open
Answer: The model I looked at, EXP19LTRD , on the website says it has a 300 lb capacity. I would imagine that the heavier a person is the more difficult it would be to push the person around. My dad is around 190 and I don't have a problem.
Question: How much does it weigh
Answer: The brakes stay locked until you disengage them. When you engage the brake, the chair remains stationary. The rider then can easily get in or out of the chair without the chair moving.

User questions & answers

Question: True Full Width, please anyone? Measuring back across fullest width from furthest protruding outer wheel point to other protruding outer wheel point
Answer: I haven't actually weighed it. I removed the foot rests. Friends have no problems getting it into and out of my car. Anyway, they don't complain about it.
Question: I can't get the wheel chair to open, how do I do that
Answer: We detached the legs and hung a leather belt between legs of Cruiser for feet to rest on when in motion
Question: Do the leg rests swing out
Answer: no, but they are removable
Question: will my husband who is 5'6" have to be hunched over while pushing me
Answer: I purchased this for my mom as well. It weighs 36 pounds or so. Once I figured out how to 'grab' it so I wasn't holding a wheel (which would then spin), it is pretty easy to lift in and our of car. Very easy to fold and unfold, and it rolls very smoothly.

User questions & answers

Question: is it fire engine red or more of a maroon
Answer: Where is the bolt located? Plus I did not get a calf strap that was to be included with the chair. How do I get the strap that I need?
Question: what is the weight of this item
Answer: My daughter weighs 170 and I'm 6' and weigh 225lbs. The chair for me is comfortable but a little snug. There is a wider chair. Also the leg rests do not bend at a 90 degree angle towards the floor/ground. There more of a 45 degree angle not lower.
Question: what are dimensions when folded
Answer: I had the same problem. I found that the plastic sides of the armrests get on top of the seat which makes it impossible to fold. If you pull the armrests back and make sure the plastic goes on the sides of the seat when you put them back down. That solved my issue.
Question: Does chair come with passenger accessible wheel brakes (as pictured, but not mentioned in description) and is leg rest height adjustable
Answer: I removed the foot-rests since they weren't needed which reduces the weight. The wheelchair weighs about 35 pounds per my balance-beam scale.

Question: Are the leg rests removeable
Answer: Specs say 25+ lbs, seems right. However... width is crucial to me,bathroom door is 23in wide, one spec said 21.25 in,’Great’Altho another spec says 23 in,which is more accurate!! Bummer, trim is all chewed up now🤢😱
Question: My footrests broke how can I get them replaced
Answer: The only assembly you have to do is pop in the wheels turn a few screws. After this, you also pop in the pedals and you are done. I assembled two of them. It took me 15 minutes total which included removing from the box and taking off the plastic and cardboard. Not that I have had any problems, be sure to double check all wheel screws before each use for added safety.

User questions & answers

Question: How much does it weigh
Answer: It doesn’t come with it, it folds up compactly. Ask Drive medical.
Question: Can the legs swing back out of the way
Answer: There is a pocket on the back of the wheelchair seat but I do not know if an oxygen canister would fit. It would depend on the size of the canister and the pocket is only able to hold a letter size folder. You could contact the company and see if the chair can have an attachment to hold the canister. Hope this helps
Question: Can you elevate the leg rest
Answer: You can buy 2 pcs for the rear wheels of Model DFL19, as individual items (STDS2A1800).Thank you.
Question: Looking for a lightweight chair that i can lift in and out of my car for my Mom - does anyone know the weight of the chair
Answer: I would use it at a museum. The difference in the transport wheelchair and a regular one is that someone has to push the transport wheelchair. If there are inclines, it might be a problem if the person in the wheelchair is heavy or the pusher is weak.
