6 best clinical infrared thermometer
Clinical infrared thermometers are essential tools in healthcare settings for measuring body temperature without direct contact. They use infrared technology to detect the thermal radiation emitted by the body. Here's what you need to know:
Non-Contact Measurement:
- Clinical infrared thermometers provide non-contact temperature measurements, making them suitable for use in situations where contact thermometers might not be practical or hygienic.
Infrared Technology:
- These thermometers use infrared sensors to detect the heat emitted by the body's surface. The sensor captures the infrared radiation and converts it into an electrical signal, which is then used to calculate the body temperature.
Speed and Accuracy:
- Infrared thermometers offer quick and accurate temperature readings, often providing results within seconds. This makes them particularly useful for screening large groups of people in a short amount of time.
Hygienic and Safe:
- Since these thermometers don't require physical contact, they reduce the risk of cross-contamination between individuals. This is especially important in healthcare settings where maintaining hygiene is critical.
Memory and Data Storage:
- Many clinical infrared thermometers come with memory features that allow for the storage of previous temperature readings. This feature can be helpful for tracking changes in an individual's temperature over time.
Display and User Interface:
- The thermometers usually have a digital display that shows the temperature readings. The user interface is designed to be user-friendly, with straightforward controls for ease of operation.
Fever Alarms:
- Some models include fever alarms or color-coded displays to quickly indicate whether a measured temperature is within a normal range or if it indicates a fever. This helps in identifying potential health concerns promptly.
Battery Power:
- Clinical infrared thermometers are often powered by batteries, which makes them portable and convenient for use in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, and at home.
Calibration and Accuracy Standards:
- High-quality clinical infrared thermometers are calibrated to meet accuracy standards, ensuring reliable temperature measurements. Regular calibration is essential to maintain accuracy over time.
Versatility:
- These thermometers can be used to measure the temperature of various surfaces, not just the human body. This versatility makes them valuable for industrial and scientific applications beyond healthcare.
Clinical infrared thermometers have become crucial tools, especially during public health crises, for quickly and safely assessing body temperatures. Their ease of use, speed, and accuracy make them valuable in various settings where temperature monitoring is essential.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does iHealth Thermometer sync via bluetooth? If not how does it |
Answer: | The iHealth Thermometer does not have the capability to sync to another device. |
Question: | Wtem made |
Answer: | That website doesn't show contact info for comoany...I wouldn't trust. |
Question: | Why does the first bullet under details say it’s made in usa but my shipping says it’s coming from china |
Answer: | Ships from USA, does not mean manufactured in the USA. I notice there's a little trickery in the wording on many Chinese products. Many products now do not openly state if the product is made in China. Why is this? Because they don't want you to know it comes from China, because it would prevent a sale! |
Question: | I got mine but this one is all white no brand name |
Answer: | I found this on the iHealth site (it was listed for this thermometer):: *Some iHealth Thermometers may arrive without the iHealth logo. This is still an iHealth PT3 thermometer but we have removed the step for printing the logo to improve production speed due to the high demand during this crisis. All other components are the same. Hope this helps you and others who might purchase this thermometer with the logo missing. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this product detect heat loss thru concrete |
Answer: | This is the most confusing part of the manual (since its all pictograms w/o any text describing it). What the trig setting (on or off) does: If set to "on" then the unit will, if the trigger is held in for 10+ minutes, shut off after 10 minutes. No effect on normal usage. The normal operation is press trigger, let go, read the display... 5-6 seconds later the unit shuts off. But if you toss it in your tool bag, pocket, etc and happen to depress the trigger and it stays that way, it will shut off after 10 minutes - to save battery life. I'd have like to seen a configurable time, or a smaller time - 10 minutes seems excessive. Anything over a minute seems excessive to me. |
Question: | I lost the wire attachment from my gun; can I still get an accurate room temperature reading without using the wire probe or laser sight |
Answer: | Fluke's web site shows that the Max+ is better in every respect except battery life with laser and backlight on (10 vs. 8 hours) but Amazon inverted the prices today so there's no trade-off to make:Top-end: 500 versus 650 °CAccuracy above 0 °C: greater of ±1.5 °C or ±1.5% versus greater of ±1.0 °C or ±1.0%Response Time: Optical Resolution: 10:1 versus 12:1Repeatability: greater of ±0.8% of reading or For my uses measuring attic temperatures, fry pans, fuse boxes, computer chips, hard drives and compact florescent bulb ballasts that seem to get hot before failing, either model would be fine. I hope that getting a Fluke means that this will tolerate static electricity and drops better and maintain accuracy as the battery wears down or the sensor ages so the specs actually mean something. |
Question: | does this unit come with a case? hard plastic or pouch |
Answer: | According to the manufacture's website the Max Plus can be manually adjusted for emissivity in a range from 0.1 to 1.00 |
Question: | Where's the country of origin |
Answer: | In the battery compartment of my Fluke 62 MAX+, it states that the unit was made in China in June 2012. Hope this helps. |
