Manufacturers website states that for best accuracy, the distance from heat source should be 14.17 inches. All the laser is for is to approximate the area measured. Question:	How easy is it to change from C to F
Answer:	I have not but I see no reason it wouldn't work for some culinary purposes as it is surely more accurate than most oven and burner controls. I did test mine by pointing it at a pan of boiling water and it was spot on 212 degrees. I also calibrated it with melting ice which showed 32 degrees and suggest you perform the same tests. However, many recommended cooking temperatures are given as internal temperatures such as for meat and fish and this device would only read the surface temperature. That might read higher than the internals so I'd avoid using it in that manner.

Quick Start Guide

1.Take Forehead Temperature: press the "Measure" button to power on. Keep the thermometer about 1-3cm away from the forehead. Press the "Measure" button and release, the beep is heard, read the value.

2.Take Object/room Temperature: power off the thermometer, press "Mem" button for 3sec. Keep the thermometer about 1-3cm away from the object. Press the "Measure" button and release, the beep is heard, read the value.

3.Check 35 Sets of Previous Readings: power on the thermometer, short press "Mem" button to enter the memory mode. Press "Mem" button again to check the 35 sets of memories one by one. If no value, it will display "---M".

4.℉/℃ Switch: when the thermometer is on, keep pressing "Mute-unmute" button for 5s to switch.

5.Mute/Unmute Switch: when the thermometer is on, pressing "Mute-unmute" button for 1s to switch.

Question:	What is a s/n and where is it? need it for guarantee card. so many numbers on box, item, instructions
Answer:	S/N is serial number. This is located on the back of the box near bottom right hand side & on the forehead thermometer. Hope this helps.
Question:	Is there a silent mode for the thermometer so that you might not wake up a sleeping child or whomever's temperature you are taking
Answer:	I don't think there is a full silent mode but its not to noisy I doubt it could wake anyone. The loudest sounds it makes only happens if a fever temperature is detected, but I still don't think it would be loud enough to wake someone as long as you took the temperature from the farthest distance possible.
