Answer:	Sara, I don't remember any of the mice having rattles. However, some of the other toys did. Answer:	Ours was stiff too, but I got it out eventually. The probe is just a sharp rod that is jammed into that holder on the bottom right. My advice: pull the probe, twisting as you do, with the holder secured in your other hand.
