I found this helpful explanation about measurement differences on the body: "Although there is no one “normal” temperature reading, a temperature, taken orally, ranging between 97°F and 100°F is considered normal. A rectal temperature is generally 1° higher and an underarm (auxillary) temperature will be 1° lower."

Answer:	Unfortunately, I don't think you can set the alarm for a specific temperature, but you say you don't want that, anyway. Worse, you must press the button to even see the current temperature, and then in a few seconds, it goes dark. It appears very accurate and the probe hasn't died (the weakest part in any of these). Press the button every so often till your brisket reaches your temperature or...buy a better one.
