Answer:	Yes . This is one of the intended uses :) Just please note it's for TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), not for pH. In hydroponics applications, a ppm meter such as this one is used to determine your nutrient count.

This TDS meter is pre-calibrated in factory, no need calibrate again by customer, we do this to prevent as many calibration related mistakes as possible, and it's easier to use. To maintain the accuracy, it's better to rinse the probe with distilled water after each use. For your mentioned distilled water, it should read 0 ppm theoretically, but in actual application, if you can't keep test condition very clean, it may read 0-2ppm usually.

I just purchased this meter set, and discovered the distilled water I use was ph4 and below! I have the "other" style cheap meter, that has proven very stable for me, and after checking it in GHP 7.0 calibration solution, used it to test the accuracy of this relentlessly poor example of a ph testing system. First off, the solution instructions make no mention what the ph of the distilled water needs to be. My 4.0 water mixed with the 4.0 and 6.86 powder, resulted in a solution of 3.3 and 6.0 instead, so IMO, the MIY calibration solutions are a joke, as are ph meters that calibrate on the 6.86 standard instead of 7.0.

Question:	I will be using this meter once a month. Do I need storage solution for the probe
Answer:	Storing the probe in the storage solution helps keep the probe's sensitivity and accuracy. So it's a recommended practice. While storing the probe without any solution will not damage the probe, it's just going to cause the probe to lose its sensitivity and accuracy temporarily. Store the probe in the storage solution again for about 10 minutes, the sensitivity and accuracy can be restored.
Question:	Can anyone confirm if this comes pre calibrated
Answer:	The tester has been calibrated before they went out of the factory. But since there is a time gap before they reach our customers, we recommend doing the calibration with the included premixed buffer solutions before your first use.Thanks for your interest!
Question:	Can this be used to analyze urine
Answer:	Yes, it can tests urine with no problem. You can use the probe cap as a container for the urine.
Question:	How often does this pH meter need to be re-calibrated and/or how can I tell when it needs to be re-calibrated
Answer:	The manufacturer recommends keeping the device probe in a neutral storage solution; the protective tip case/container actually has a 'fill' line for guidance, and it is designed to hold a liquid safely when stored as indicated -- If someone uses distilled or deionized water by itself as a storage solution, the salts contained in the probe tip will dissipate and the probe will then need to be replaced--about $25, plus a fine headache trying to get it right. If you are out of storage solution keeping the probe wet somehow is better than dry--but don't store without the specialized solution for more than a day or so; these are typically $10-$13 for 100ml - 250ml size bottles on Amazon.

Answer:	Please do not consume this product. This products sole purpose is to test the pH of any clear water. Please keep away from children, unless they are under adult supervision.
Question:	instructions say 2 or 3 drops in sample. which is best, results are slightly different between 2 and 3 drops
Answer:	The quantity of any water sample for testing is only about 10cc or 2 teaspoons, per manufacturer’s standards. If you collect a whole cup of water, the test results will most likely be inaccurate. In addition, you will only need 2-3 drops of the reagent per water sample.
Question:	How long will the color remain in the water? Will it fade away right away? It's for a science fair
Answer:	It does not fade right away, but I’ve not timed it long enough since I throw the solution out as soon as it changes to the color that it should be.

Question:	Is it normal that there is water stuck in the glass sensor on the bottom and that water in the digital number part
Answer:	No it isn't chances are that you submerged the meter too deep when measuring. You only submerge the meter about one inch [that's the plastic part with the groove in it]. You will have to get a new one if it doesn't read properly.

Answer:	It comes with a buffer powder that you add to a premeasured amount of distilled water. You dip the pH meter in the buffered solution and it auto calibrates.
