Answer:	I am looking at the Hanna website and I am seeing that they offer a calibration solution specifically designed for this instrument in pouches and that they recommend that you use pH 4, 7 and 10 for calibration. Typically when you work with these types of instruments, you want to establish a range of known data points(in this case, pH) for the instrument to use as a comparison. Let the customer know that they do not need a buffer with a specific pH, but rather a series of solutions that will allow the instrument to compare a known pH with the material being tested(the aquarium water). What I would recommend is our pH Meter Calibration and Maintenance set. The Item number is 185740. Let me know if I provide additional assistance.

Answer:	To be clear, the best way to destroy your pH probe is to store it in water, like the other answers recommend. You need to store it in a 30% potassium chloride solution. Go to your grocery store and buy salt substitute. Comes in a blue container and says "Nu-salt" on the label. The ingredient should be potassium chloride. Take a container that measures 100 mL, add 30g of potassium chloride and fill up to the 100 mL line with distilled water. That's what you store it in.

Answer:	After each use, please confirm whether the sponge in the electrode protective cover is wet. If not, please drop in an appropriate amount of pH 4.0 solution in time. If you have not used the pH meter for a long time and forget to add PH4.0 buffer to the sponge, please put the composite electrode into the pH4.0 buffer or tap water for more than 24H before use, and then calibrate and use it.
Question:	Can Someone take the TIME - to explain exactly what to do with this Thing -I'm very elderly and don't understand - my meter has readings all over
Answer:	First you have to calibrate it to be sure you're getting accurate readings. Mix the packets that came with the meter each in 250ml of DISTILLED WATER. I use a clean glass jar (previously held tomato sauce) once you have your solutions (4.0, 6.86 and 9.18) turn on the meter insert it into the 6.86 solution HOLD IT STILL AND WAIT FOR THE READING TO STABALIZE(meaning the reading might still change a little but it slows down and hovers around a certain value. If you can count more than 5 seconds and the reading hasnt change You NAILED IT!) now hold CAL button for a couple seconds until Cal appears then release the CAL button ( it will show you the off reading then it will adjust and say "6.86" then "SA") Clean the electrode in Distilled water and repeat this process for 4.0 and 9.18 solutions it will say "END" when all is finished. Now you are ready to test, simply turn on and hold it still in whatever you are testing and dont forget to hold still until readings stabilize (usually 10 to 20 seconds). ps the "hold" button is for when you cant see the display as in a dark bucket, just count to 15 then press hold and you will have an accurate reading

How to Calibrate the pH Meter

1. Before calibration, prepare a beaker containing a pH 4.00 solution, a beaker with pH 6.86 solution, and a beaker pH 9.18 solution. Make sure that each solution is 250ml and at a stable temperature of 25℃

2. Prepare 3 separate beakers with distilled water.

3. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the meter.

4. Remove the cap and immerse the electrode into the PH6.86 buffer solution. Stir gently and wait for the value to stabilize.

5. Press and hold the CAL button for 3 seconds. Hold the electrode into the solution until the LCD screen displays a value of pH 6.86.

6. Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry. Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 for the pH 4.00 and pH 9.18 solutions.

Answer:	Hello Yes as long as it's the one with the spear tip electrode for easy penetration. Other wise you have to make slurry with a portion of dough and deionized water. Then you can use a normal meter. I have the Water Meter and so far it has been one of the best meters I've had. Better then way more expensive ones I'm not allowed to name here. How to Calibrate the pH Meter

Take ph 9.18 standard solution as an example

Power on→Press the MODEL/CAL button → Adjust to pH mode→

Put the electrode into pH9.18 standard solution, then wait for the readings to stabilize(usually 5~10 Seconds) →

Press and hold the MODEL/CAL button and release after 6 seconds→untill the readings of pH9.18 is no longer flashing,

and the calibration of pH9.18 is completed.

Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry. Repeat the above steps if you need to calibrate other solutions.

How to make a standard solution:

Completely empty the powder into a clean 250ml glass beaker.

Answer:	Each test kit is designed to be used with a specific set of reagents. For reliable results, use only the reagents and replacement parts identified in the instructions that came with your kit. Reagent #R-0004 is the standard pH reagent used with Taylor 2000 Series test kits. #R-0014 is typically used with Taylor's residential kits.

1.Remove the protective cap and protective film on the screen.

2.First rinse the electrode with distilled water ,and suck with filter paper.

3.Turn the meter on by pressing the "ON/OFF" key.

4.Immerse the pH meter electrode in the solution to be tested (can not be over the immersion line)

5.Stir gently and wait around 30 seconds till the reading stabilized.

6.After finished ,clear the electrode with pure water,turn the meter off by pressing the "ON/OFF" key.

7.Always replace the protective cap after use.

Answer:	That's not a proper sentence. If the particles in the water are too high, add more water.

Answer:	I can't imagine why a swimming pool would even have any salinity, but if it does it is likely to be way to minimal for this to read. The unit will measure the salinity and more accurately, specific gravity of any body of water within its readable parameters. Accurate to +/- 0.001, full range scale from: 1.000 to 1.032 in 0.002 increments except in the safe zone, there it is in 0.0001 increments (specific gravity), 0 to 40 PPT in increments of 2 (salinity).
Question:	Can i use this for salt water pool in ppm? not just ppt. don't i need a parts per million number for a more accurate reading
Answer:	Yes you could but that would mean you would have very little mechanical filtration. There won't be enough media left to filter anything.
Question:	can i test my urine with this
Answer:	Not unless its falling apart, maybe every 3 years. You replace the charcoal every other month, the ceramic filter, yearly. Do rinse it monthly. These are the guidelines given to me by the tropical fish store I by my fish, and most of my tanks from.

Ever so easy to calibrate

Take ph 9.18 standard solution as an example:

• Power on → Adjust to pH mode (Press the MODE/CAL button)
• Put the electrode into pH 9.18 standard solution, then wait for the readings to stabilize (usually 5~10 Seconds)
• Press and hold the MODE/CAL button and release after 6 seconds → until the readings of pH9.18 is no longer flashing, and the calibration of pH9.18 is completed.
• Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry. Repeat the above steps if you need to calibrate other solutions.
