Question:	I will be using this meter once a month. Do I need storage solution for the probe
Answer:	Storing the probe in the storage solution helps keep the probe's sensitivity and accuracy. So it's a recommended practice. While storing the probe without any solution will not damage the probe, it's just going to cause the probe to lose its sensitivity and accuracy temporarily. Store the probe in the storage solution again for about 10 minutes, the sensitivity and accuracy can be restored.
Question:	Can anyone confirm if this comes pre calibrated
Answer:	The tester has been calibrated before they went out of the factory. But since there is a time gap before they reach our customers, we recommend doing the calibration with the included premixed buffer solutions before your first use.Thanks for your interest!

Answer:	Yes, it can tests urine with no problem. You can use the probe cap as a container for the urine.
Question:	How often does this pH meter need to be re-calibrated and/or how can I tell when it needs to be re-calibrated
Answer:	The manufacturer recommends keeping the device probe in a neutral storage solution; the protective tip case/container actually has a 'fill' line for guidance, and it is designed to hold a liquid safely when stored as indicated -- If someone uses distilled or deionized water by itself as a storage solution, the salts contained in the probe tip will dissipate and the probe will then need to be replaced--about $25, plus a fine headache trying to get it right. If you are out of storage solution keeping the probe wet somehow is better than dry--but don't store without the specialized solution for more than a day or so; these are typically $10-$13 for 100ml - 250ml size bottles on Amazon.

Answer:	If you calibrate it before it is used then it seems to be reliable to .02
Question:	Why does the cap contained some condensation
Answer:	To be clear, the best way to destroy your pH probe is to store it in water, like the other answers recommend. You need to store it in a 30% potassium chloride solution. Go to your grocery store and buy salt substitute. Comes in a blue container and says "Nu-salt" on the label. The ingredient should be potassium chloride. Take a container that measures 100 mL, add 30g of potassium chloride and fill up to the 100 mL line with distilled water. That's what you store it in.
Question:	Does the elctrode need to be stored in kcl solution? what kind
Answer:	After each use, please confirm whether the sponge in the electrode protective cover is wet. If not, please drop in an appropriate amount of pH 4.0 solution in time. If you have not used the pH meter for a long time and forget to add PH4.0 buffer to the sponge, please put the composite electrode into the pH4.0 buffer or tap water for more than 24H before use, and then calibrate and use it.
Question:	Can Someone take the TIME - to explain exactly what to do with this Thing -I'm very elderly and don't understand - my meter has readings all over
Answer:	First you have to calibrate it to be sure you're getting accurate readings. Mix the packets that came with the meter each in 250ml of DISTILLED WATER. I use a clean glass jar (previously held tomato sauce) once you have your solutions (4.0, 6.86 and 9.18) turn on the meter insert it into the 6.86 solution HOLD IT STILL AND WAIT FOR THE READING TO STABALIZE(meaning the reading might still change a little but it slows down and hovers around a certain value. If you can count more than 5 seconds and the reading hasnt change You NAILED IT!) now hold CAL button for a couple seconds until Cal appears then release the CAL button ( it will show you the off reading then it will adjust and say "6.86" then "SA") Clean the electrode in Distilled water and repeat this process for 4.0 and 9.18 solutions it will say "END" when all is finished. Now you are ready to test, simply turn on and hold it still in whatever you are testing and dont forget to hold still until readings stabilize (usually 10 to 20 seconds). ps the "hold" button is for when you cant see the display as in a dark bucket, just count to 15 then press hold and you will have an accurate reading

How to Calibrate the pH Meter

1. Before calibration, prepare a beaker containing a pH 4.00 solution, a beaker with pH 6.86 solution, and a beaker pH 9.18 solution. Make sure that each solution is 250ml and at a stable temperature of 25℃

2. Prepare 3 separate beakers with distilled water.

3. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the meter.

4. Remove the cap and immerse the electrode into the PH6.86 buffer solution. Stir gently and wait for the value to stabilize.

5. Press and hold the CAL button for 3 seconds. Hold the electrode into the solution until the LCD screen displays a value of pH 6.86.

6. Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry. Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 for the pH 4.00 and pH 9.18 solutions.

Answer:	Yes! I recently calibrated with 7.0. Prior to calibration, it read the 7.0 solution at 7.0, calibrated with 7.0 solution it now reads 7.18. Find the correct calibration solution

Answer:	Yes but these ph meters do not work very well in general. Better to either use the test strips or a reagent pool test kit

Answer:	If you want to turn the light OFF, you must use the switch. The toggle will still give the lights some voltage even in the so called off position.

Answer:	Yes, but advanced warning, we recommend keeping the ph measure above ph of 2 and below a ph of 12 as ph measures beyond those points will shorten the life of the sensor and is considered improper use and voids the warranty. It may be wise to check in advance if the chemistry course will have the student delving into substances more acidic than lemon juice like HCL, or more alkaline than hand soap. Be sure to have distilled water to rinse all substances away from the probe when testing.

Answer:	No, that would be our EC60 and PC60 that will do PPM under the measurement for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). PH60 does only PH and mV for an ORP probe sold separately.

Answer:	I am looking at the Hanna website and I am seeing that they offer a calibration solution specifically designed for this instrument in pouches and that they recommend that you use pH 4, 7 and 10 for calibration. Typically when you work with these types of instruments, you want to establish a range of known data points(in this case, pH) for the instrument to use as a comparison. Let the customer know that they do not need a buffer with a specific pH, but rather a series of solutions that will allow the instrument to compare a known pH with the material being tested(the aquarium water). What I would recommend is our pH Meter Calibration and Maintenance set. The Item number is 185740. Let me know if I provide additional assistance.

Answer:	I don't know what the "factory" would say their margin of error is, but it's not uncommon for people to check this against a calibrated refractometer and find that it reads 0.002 low. In my saltwater tank, when my refractometer says 1.025, this checker will read 1.023. It's very handy and easy to use, plus confirms my tank temperature, so I use it often, realizing it won't read the same as my refractometer. I don't know or care which one is actually correct, the tank is fine at whatever level this actually is.

Answer:	You still want to wait for suspended salt to dissolve, salt goes though a chemical reaction while it’s mixing with water and during that reaction it’s harmful to any aquatic life in contact. So wait till it’s fully dissolved, example if I put 1 cup of my mix in 2 gallons of water mix it up and than test while salt isn’t dissolved I’ll get a reading of 17PPT, if I wait 10min while the power head stirs it up longer as it dissolves at 75f the salinity reading changes to close to 35PPT ether 1-2 ppt over depending kn how much salt I added. Ie how much unser a cup or slightly over a cup. Temperature plays a key role to, warmer water can hold more salt
