Answer: | This is the most confusing part of the manual (since its all pictograms w/o any text describing it). What the trig setting (on or off) does: If set to "on" then the unit will, if the trigger is held in for 10+ minutes, shut off after 10 minutes. No effect on normal usage. The normal operation is press trigger, let go, read the display... 5-6 seconds later the unit shuts off. But if you toss it in your tool bag, pocket, etc and happen to depress the trigger and it stays that way, it will shut off after 10 minutes - to save battery life. I'd have like to seen a configurable time, or a smaller time - 10 minutes seems excessive. Anything over a minute seems excessive to me. |

Question: | Can i leave the probe inside my gas fired forge and read the temp for determining heat treat temps on various steels? pretty much twice a week or more |
Answer: | Since soil most often is in/close to neutral state (with pH value of 7), it is highly likely that you find the needle in display window stay still (because the default pH value is set at somewhere between 7 and 8) when you use it to test the pH value of soil. Sometimes are misled by this appearance and hence regard the tester as a defective unit by mistake. |
Question: | Are these manufactured in the usa? usually if so, the ad will make a big deal of the fact. this one didn't |
Answer: | That's strange.. I recieved mine a while back.. I don't test tje same spot.. I usually test different spots in the pot.. I always get get good readings.. I tested it by putting the meter in a damp pot then test on a really dry pot.. And it will tell you that pot needs water.. It worked for me.. Hope this helped.. Good luck. |

Answer: | Hi! I have a moisture meter and its saving me from over watering which I am prone to do. Some plants like to be moist and some are drought resistant and can tolerate a lack of water and others like flowers need to be water more often because they wither quickly. if you have soil that is a mixture of clay then the clay will hold moisture and the plant won't need water as often. You can go on line and there is a wealth of information including how to water and care for any plant you have. I also sent a soil sample off to the North Carolina Dept of Agriculture so they could tell me about fertilizer. Good luck. Its all on line. |

Answer: | The sensor meter has numbers 1 through 10 - 1 dry - 10 wet. On the watering guide on the back of the box, it gives a list of zones for Dry-Moist-Wet. Under each zone, it gives a list of plants that are in that zone. You use the meter to check the moisture, then see what zone your plant is in. You will know if you need to water or not according to what zone your plant is in. |

Answer: | You can use it to measure moisture in the ground or pots, etc. It has a 7" probe which allows measuring moisture in large pots. Sticking your finger in the ground (my index finger is only about 2 2/5" long) will only measure surface dryness , while there may be quite a bit of moisture deeper. Don't over-water based on lack of surface moisture. My desert plants (Yuma AZ) are sensitive to over-watering. Measure the moisture in the root area, I highly recommend this handy instrument. |

Answer: | Should be pre-calibrated to 7 (neutral). Since most soil is neutral, you may not see the needle move much, even after ten minutes. It will take at least ten minutes to give you an accurate reading, at any rate. If you add egg shells (to make it more alkaline) or coffee grounds (to make it more acidic) and wait another ten minutes, you should see a slight change. Try a sample of 50% soil to 50% coffee grounds to see if you can get a more extreme response. The soil tester is gardening hand tools. |

Answer: | You can try the following ways: 1.Use a toothbrush and a little vinegar to slowly wipe the rust. Basically, the rust can be cleaned. 2.Carefully wipe the rust with wax. 3.First remove the rust with toothpaste. The toothpaste contains sulphur and friction agent, which can replace the oxygen in the rust component. Then apply a white candle on the rust. After about 3 to 5 minutes, wipe it off with paper. After removing the rust, be sure to treat the surface, apply a layer of lead, and then paint; or plate other metals that are not easily rusted. |
