Question: | They used to say swiss made on the face. they don't anymore. are they |
Answer: | I didnt realize that they stopped putting Swiss made on them, The pair I purchased in 2014 were made in Switzerland. I cant say with any certainty where they are made now, I hope they havent gone to china, but if you are unsure just but a pair of Mitutoyo , they are made in Brazil but are excellent quality. Hope this answer helped . |
Question: | does it come with a case |
Answer: | Yes, it comes in a hard-foam-filled plastic case. |
Question: | What is the dial cover made of - glass, or plastic? Does it scratch easily |
Answer: | I was a Machinist for over 20 years and owned a pair of B&S 6" dial calipers. With the "rough" work environment of a machine shop, the face of the calipers never got a scratch on it. I used them every day of the 20+ years as a Machinist. I recommend B&S calipers over Starrett calipers any day and I love Starret precision measuring instruments. Buy them without a care. |
Question: | is it really made in Switzerland |
Answer: | Mine was stamped on stem. swiss made. All i can say is this is very precise with consistent readings. I would never change this analog for a digital one. Mine has black dial. Hope this helps. Ted S |

User questions & answers
Question: | will the case work with Brown and Sharpe vernier calipers as well |
Answer: | The B&S #577 Vernier calipers fits perfectly. When I received mine, an error had been made at the end of the hinge routing. I called the manufacturer (not B&S) and the owner blamed everyone who may have touched it after he shipped it, ( but himself) for his companies error in manufacturing. I then used an Exacto knife and got it to close properly. When you get it examine it closely and send it back if any errors are noted. |

Both using the " symbol abbreviation for inches. I JUST ordered one of these and certainly hope it is not metric when it arrives. js |
