User questions & answers

Question: It look like the distance between the horizontal rails and the grab bar is fixed. What is the distance between the horizontal rails and the grab bar
Answer: The grab bar height is actually adjustable. It looks like the grab rail is ABOUT 34" - 39" from the floor. I do not have it installed, so that may be off a little. I can't install it because the legs (even though ajustable) are too tall for my older box spring & frame. Before it can work at my house it would have to fit between the box spring and mattress. My mattress is a little over 14" off the ground. The legs are about 16" tall at their lowest, so installed, the stabilizing bar lifts the mattress off the box spring top. That is a rough measurement because I can't lift the mattress by myself to get the stabilizing bar back in there. Lost my helper to the surgery for a while yet - so I can't be exact. No lifting here at all for a couple more weeks. Sorry about that. It would be a good idea for the right bed. Maybe the manufacturer can give the exact measurements. The adjustable ranges are not printed in the documentation. Unfortunately I tossed it all as well as the box so I can't help with manufacturer's name either.
Question: What is the weight capacity for this and will it prevent falling out of bed as well as help getting up
Answer: I don't know what the weight capacity is, my husband is 6'3" and weighs 215 lbs and it works for him. As far as falling out of bed, it depends on where you place it. It definitely helps getting in and out of bed. My mom is 91 and we have one for her as she falls out of bed frequently and she hasn't fallen out singe installing it on her bed.
Question: Is it possible to place this with the legs inside the bed frame instead of the outside? I'm concerned my dad would trip over the legs
Answer: The legs do not stick out but sit right up next to the bed frame if you put the device up under the mattress far enough. My mom loves hers. Helps her turn over and sit up on the edge of the bed. She uses a walker also and there is no problem with the device interfering with the walker.
Question: What is the lowest it can be adjusted to? How far does it insert under the mattress
Answer: The lowest adjustment to the handle height is sixteen inches (16") from the floor to the box mattress, the highest is 20 plus inches (20" plus). We have a low profile box mattress (13" from floor) so it didn't work. It goes under the mattress 32" to 40". I could see where this item would work very well with a higher box mattress (16" plus from the floor) and therein lies the problem for us.

Answer: Yes, it will fit queen-size. I use it on a full-size bed for my autistic child. It's great!

Question: If the patient need to get out of bed, how easy it to move the rail on one side
Answer: It's real easy, I get mom up with ease every morning. Just pull the two spring knobs on each side of the rails and they go down. I slide her over the rail, which is barely below the mattress.

Question: We have a split king electrical adjustable bed. Will this work with that type of bed
Answer: If there is, I haven't heard about it. My dad finds it very sturdy.
Question: Does anyone have the dimensions on this? Also, diameter of the poles? Thks
Answer: My bed has an 8" foam mattress (encased in mattress fabric) resting on the Bed Assist, which rests on an elevated 3/4" plywood platform. Works fine for me; I weigh 275#.If you experience slippage, stores such as Target sell various-sized panels of very thin non-slip, textured foam, which you can layer above and/or beneath the Bed Assist.
Question: Is there a recall on this product for defective welds
Answer: Yes and yes
Question: Would this work under a lower-profile bed that has thinner and lighter mattresses
Answer: Ours came new and undamaged, although the matching furniture had to be sent back once as the metal pieces had become dented during shipping.

User questions & answers

Question: Did anyone use this with a invacare
Answer: no
Question: Can the rails be moved up and down
Answer: Yes they can
Question: Will this work with a invacare bed model
Answer: The short answer if "I don't know". The long answer is that I do still have the little instruction manual I might be able to scan and send to you. It did not work on my mother's bed because her bed had a solid underside and was not a medical bed. As you see in the picture they show, the flat area under the mattress must have holes to attach the bar under the bed and then the side rails fit into the bar and are secured. If I was younger and more ambitious, I could have probably drilled holes in my mother's bedframe and adapted it but I was not up to that much work. Let me know if I can assist with a scanned copy of the installation form (only one page).
Question: Does it comes with 2 rails
Answer: Hello Nakia, thank you for your interest in Drive Medical! This listing is for item # 15021BV which is a pair of bed rails.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this have seat inflate
Answer: The product consists of an air mattress and a pump as shown in most of the photos.
Question: Do t his have a battery for power outages
Answer: It is the entire 80" x 42" mattress. It works very well and is very comfort adjustable. One important word of caution - When inserting the three hose connection into the pump very lightly moisten the black 'O' Rings before inserting into the connector pump. Moisten your finger tip with your saliva or a couple of drops of water. If not moistened the dry O Rings can become dislodged from the groove they sit in resulting in your not having a good seal and the pump will appear to not be functioning properly.
Question: Does this product include pump and connections or only the mattress
Answer: I am assuming that "split adjustable" means that one side of the bed can have the head raised independently of the other side. We do not have this type of bed. Ours is "standard". The part of the Bed Assist that slides between the mattress and box springs is not flexible - it won't bend with the mattress being raised. For our bed, it is amazing. My husband relies on it 100% to help him get to a sitting from a lying down position and then from the sitting position to a standing position. He weighs about 200 pounds and has very little muscle strength, so a great deal of pressure is put on the Bed Assist. All of that said, I don't believe it would work with an adjustable bed IF what you mean is a bed that can raise only the head of the bed, etc. I am happy to send pictures if that would help.
Question: is this an entire mattress? or is it just a pad that fits on top of the mattress
Answer: These are the approximate dimensions of this support bar/board. The bar is 7/8 inches outer diameter and it spans 10.5 inches wide on center with a height of 24 inches from the board. The board is 47 wide X 29 deep when it is unfolded. The width can be folded to 31 x 29. My wife has uses it daily to get out of bed and she loves it.
