User questions & answers

Question: Does this fit into a standard hip/belt carrier? I'm not much of a 'neck guy
Answer: Thank you for your question. The 615 series ADSCOPE does fit in standard Hip/Belt carriers. We do also sell a great hip clip as well if you are interested.
Question: Is the sound perrormance a big difference compared to the Adscope cardiology scope
Answer: I really can't tell because my previous scope was a Riester Duplex Deluxe (and before that, a Littman Cardiology II). Compared to the Riester, is a HUGE improvement, the acoustics are very similar to the Littman one.
Question: I have tinnitus which makes it almost impossible for me to hear faint heartbeats with a cheap scope. Anyone else have that issue who likes this one
Answer: Can't answer to the tinnitus, however my wife is VERY pleased with this scope. I got it on the recommendation of a cardiologist and she used it for a national physical assessment training certificate in New Mexico. There was a great deal of envy for her scope at this event. Guess that doesnt answer your question directly, but my wife has nothing but the highest marks for it.
Question: Will this tactical version help me take down the bad guys much more better
Answer: Unfortunately your grasp of the English language indicates that you will most likely experience difficulties when attempting to "take down the bad guys much more better"... ;-) However, if you plan to take their blood pressure and/or listen to heart & lung sounds this "tactical version" will do the job adequately.

Question: Isn't the "black edition" supposed to be like black matte finish? on the earpieces & bell. When I click black it looks more like the smoke finish
Answer: Hi. The bell does not have a matte black finish. The olives and diaphragm are finished in matte black. I just bought it 15 days ago. I'm happy with the finish of the stethoscope. It depends on the tastes of each one. Regards
Question: Is there a warranty
Answer: yes, it has 5 years warranty
Question: Is this good for a new nursing student BSN
Answer: It's better than good, it's ideal for all your professional career...
Question: I will be an emt student soon, would this stethoscope be sufficient? Or is it overkill. Suggestions are appreciated
Answer: Former EMT, currently in med school: This is absolute overkill for EMT (if they don't have steths on your rig, get something in the $15-30 range). This is perfectly fine for med school (it's what almost everyone in my class has).

User questions & answers

Question: How does this compare to the littmann classic iii in terms of sound quality etc
Answer: I was given a Littmann as a gift (I don't know which model it was), and I never cared for it much. I absolutely love this ADC. The sound is great and I love having the pediatric option. I would highly recommend this stethoscope.
Question: Can this be used on babies under 1 year old? What is the lowest age for the "pediatric" function
Answer: You can use it because it has the bell but I used it in toddlers so dont know if is the same in less than a year old. But it should work too.
Question: Is the bell or diaphgram plastic? anyone has a picture they can upload? is the adf accurate for when you are using the adult/ped combination
Answer: Thank you for your questions. The bell itself is stainless steel as are all of the metal components of the 608. It has a non chill phthalate free bell rim affixed for patient comfort. Both adult and pediatric diaphragms are also formulated from PVC. Our AFD technology allows you to adjust or tune the frequency of the diaphragm by altering pressure on both the pediatric and adult diaphragms. Lighter pressure enhances the lower frequency ranges while firmer pressure boosts the higher frequencies The smaller pediatric diaphragm is properly sized for smaller patients. The pediatric diaphragm's smaller size by its very nature will tend to enhance slightly higher frequencies. We've optimized our scopes for the frequency ranges under 500hz where most body sounds occur. If you haven't used a scope with AFD, it will take some practice but once mastered will enhance the ability to conduct a thorough physical exam. I hope this answers your questions.
Question: How does this compare to the littmann classic iii in terms of sound quality etc
Answer: Great stethoscope at better price works as well as the Littmann.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this scope compete with littmann master cardiolgy or other model? what is the difference in acoustic performance between the two
Answer: I had a cards 3 and between the two I can hear considerably better with this than the Littmann. My husband (not medical) even listened to compare them and asked how I could even hear the heart beating with my card 3. It is heavier on n weight then the Littmann. But for the price it’s a steal.
Question: Where is the product number? I want to register it. The instruction sheet says it's on the label, but there is no label
Answer: The information can be found on a label on the box. The part number is 600MCB.
Question: Hello, do you provide replacement parts for the 600 Cardiology Stethoscope? I'm in need of a replacement diaphragm and ring or gasket that holds it
Answer: I had the exact same issue with my scope. The manufacturer is local here on Long Island and I brought it to them directly. It was a factor in choosing the ADC over the Littman. They repaired it on the spot and also replaced the ear pieces with an updated part having ear buds which will not unscrew and get lost . It took about ten minutes. All free of charge. I give them 5 stars for service.
Question: I am Hard of hearing and have an increased difficult time hearing blood pressures will this scope help with that
Answer: Yes. I am hard of hearing also. This stethoscope solves that problem. I wear hearing aids but just take them out to use the scope. They might sell adaptable ear pieces for hearing aids but I didn't bother checking. I checked my B/P's vs automatic B/P's several times and got the same readings.

User questions & answers

Question: It says 31" at the top and another place, but 22" in about the product. Which is it and could I cut the tubing myself to make it
Answer: Adc 609st is 22" long
Question: Is this single tube
Answer: Yes. It is a single one piece tube.
Question: Is this dual head
Answer: Yes, it has a pediactric side as well. It isn't the best. For a general stethoscope it is worth 5 times what you pay compared to any Littmann, which I replaced it with (Cardiology III). This is my favorite scope ever!
Question: Which one has the better hearing the adc 609st or the adc
Answer: Dear Chris: Although all of our Adscopes have impressive acoustic performance the 615 utilizes AFD technology (adjustable frequency diaphragm). The proprietary design allow the practitioner to tune the frequency by altering chestpiece pressure - light pressure for lower frequency response, firmer pressure for higher frequency. At 150 grams its quite a bit heavier than the ultralightweight 609 and that extra mass further enhances acoustic performance. Its also got a lifetime warranty. That being said stethoscopes are a truly personal choice so we encourage you to try a few models and pick the best one you can afford. Thanks and good luck.

User questions & answers

Question: Did yours come with the box wrapped in plastic? Mine came with the box partly opened, I thought there would a protective covering around the plastic
Answer: Mine came in the box with a 1" plastic band around the box, not all that secure of packaging. When I called Littmann, the operator didn't know what the packaging entailed. But she did say that what I purchase off of Amazon is a third party purchase, so she has no way of knowing anything about the actual product I purchased. Then I called a local distributor and talked to them. I told him I purchased one and that it had the band around the box, but that the item did not have a plastic bag around it or any other packaging. He said it does not come wrapped inside the box, that it sits on a thin piece of black foam, and that's it. That's exactly how mine was packaged. His price is $24 higher than the Amazon price. And honestly, even if I bought it from him, I still wouldn't know if someone had previously purchased it and returned it anyway. I can't tell you how many times I've purchased items in stores to later discover that it had been used and returned. UGH! The bigger issue is it a counterfeit item. I would have no way of knowing authenticity unless I purchased it directly from the manufacturer. Next best thing would be an authorized distributor. I purchased this for home use, so I'm not going to worry about it too much. But, if I were a medical student, I'd be purchasing from an authorized distributor.
Question: is this good for listening to lung sounds on pediatric patients
Answer: I can't say whether it's good for peds but I find it very good and was recommended this one my a 20 year peds vet.
Question: Can this be used in pediatrics? Or is better to buy the classic
Answer: The lightweight CAN be used in pediatrics but it's better to buy the classic simply because it has better acoustic performance. Here's a link to a comparison chart. http://www.allheart.com/m/littmann/a/littmann-stethoscope-comparison/Hope this helps!
Question: Only if you know... Other than price, this must lack features or the quality of higher priced ones
Answer: I like this stethoscope. Anything you get with the littman name will be high quality, the difference from the higher priced models is that this is not cardiac specific. It is a general stethoscope. There is no loss of sound identification. You can still hear s1-s2, lung sounds, bruits, murmurs, bowel sounds, and the like.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this stethoscope work for neonates
Answer: Thank you for your question. Although the 618 Adimals is optimized for pediatric patients it will work on newborns as well.
Question: Has anyone had the experience where you can hardly hear using this? Brand new but cannot use
Answer: The Adscope 618 is a professional stethoscope size optimized for pediatric patient applications. Its patient friendly Adimals design can help put the smallest patients at ease during the physical exam. Each Adscope is benched on a test fixture to ensure a reliable acoustic pathway. The Adscope 618, like many of our Adscopes employs AFD (Adjustable Frequency Design) technology. Altering the pressure applied to the chestpiece “tunes” the frequency – light pressure for lower frequencies, firmer pressure for higher frequencies. Perfecting the technique takes a bit of practice. The most common cause of reduced acoustic performance is poor seal at the ears. To ensure optimal performance, please note the following: Orient the headset with the eartips pointing FORWARD towards the bridge of the nose. (many first -time users wear the headset backward which greatly impedes acoustic transmission to the inner ear) Ensure you are using optimally sized eartips. The scope comes with two sizes. Small are mounted on the scope. A larger pair are also included. The eartips should be snug but comfortable. Spring tension: Is preset for the “average consumer” but you may need to increase or decrease tension to ensure a snug aural fit. Following these simple techniques should ensure optimal performance of your Adscope 618.
Question: Pediatric...Meaning up to what age
Answer: I work in a pediatric ICU and we accept infants up to age 18. I use this stethoscope on all of them. It is so clear and light weight.
Question: Can you use without the animals
Answer: Yes, but there will be a huge gap where the animals go.

User questions & answers

Question: can this be for adults too? also how long is the cord
Answer: It's the same length as any other standard stethoscope, though I wouldn't really suggest buying this for exclusive use on adults. Occasionally I'm sure it will be fine, but you simply don't hear as well because of the size difference. That being said, I wouldn't but this stethoscope again. Take the plunge and buy a littman, this stethoscope was a waste of money and was garbage within 6months. Good luck to you.
Question: where are these Made? USA? Thanks
Answer: I'm sorry I'm getting to this so later. American Diagnostics Corporation makes the product but my understanding is that different components are subcontracted out to companies around the world and then assembly takes place in New York. Therefore, I would guess that the scope is not entirely made in the US.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this sthetoscope for heraing aid impaired
Answer: According to the manufacturer's website: "ADC’s AFD technology provides the acoustic response of a traditional bell and diaphragm in a convenient one-sided chestpiece Light pressure for low, bell-type frequency, firm pressure for high, diaphragm-type frequency"
Question: What is the total length of the stethescope? Im looking at the product dimension and they don't seem to be accurate
Answer: The total length measured 30.25 inches from tip of bell to ear pieces. The tubing length measured 21.5 inches. It isn't a cardiac surgery quality so to me it can be longer then 12-16 inches. Keeps me slightly away from the really odorous patients but still gets the job done.

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone used this for fetal heartbeat
Answer: This would not be the tool of choice for monitoring a fetal heartbeat although if you have the skill and knowledge required to do so with a simple stethoscope and one will do. The idea that this can adjust for high or low frequencies is due to the frequencies they are talking about when it comes to cardiac sounds not that it would make hearing fetal heart easier. Frequency would not apply here as much as would quality and construction when selecting one for monitoring a fetal heart and given that a home use electronic fetal doppler is in the same price range, at least on Amazon, as a stethoscope that would make it easier for a lay person to hear a fetal heart through your better off, if this is an issue of curiosity, in just getting the doppler. if there is an issue where its been suggested that the fetu needs at home heart rate monitoring then before buying anything talk to your doctor or clinic. They probbaly have a preference as to whether they do or do not want electronic measurement used and will often have suggested brands/version of either a doppler or stethoscope that they have fund to be the best for what they need done and you will also need to work with them on how to sue the instrument and what to be listening for. While a trained midwife, doctor or nurse could certainly use almost any stethoscope to try and locate a heart sound of a fetus, and usually succeed that comes with a lot of tr8ing and years of practise.. Just cause it has been used to get a fetal heartbeat does not mean that you can or actually even should, buy it with the idea of doing that in particular. No one needs the anxiety of buying a stethoscope based on the idea that someone else has used it to hear a fetal heartbeat, and then have it not work for them and they panic thinking that the heartbeat is not there. Just because someone else used it and heard a fetal heartbeat much of that can depend on who it was that used it it and their skill level and it doesn't mean that because it worked for another person it's the right tool, or will even work for you. Some people are qualified and skilled enough that they could possibly even detected a fetal heart depending on the length of the pregnancy, using an empty juice glass upside down on the mother's abdomen, but that does not mean that it would work for a majority of others.
Question: Can I take my blood pressure by myself using the monitor and stethescope
Answer: I don’t have the monitor but if you got one separately, I don’t see why not.
Question: Are the ear buds soft and rubber or hard
Answer: not as soft as littman. they are rubber and not hard plastic so they are moderately comfortable
Question: Could you use this to hear baby’s heartbeat while pregnant
Answer: The problem with listening to an fetus heart beat in the womb with a conventional, even high end, stethoscope is because of how a stethoscope works and the need to transmit sound through the air trapped in the tubing and that you are listening for a sound among many others in the abdomen and the fetus itself is encased in fluid. There are also many things in the abdomen taht make noise and are much closer to the stethoscope when it's used on the abdomen, such as the main blood vessels, the bowels, and other organs that all make noises and have flow of blood that can mimic or be mistaken for a heart beat as well as layers of muscles that can block sound. Skill and knowledge is 80% of it when trying to use a stethoscope to monitor a fetal heart unless you employ an electronic doppler. Also, quality of the instrument plays a bit role and the average drug store stethasocpe just is probably not going to pick up the sounds you need to hear. It is considered only of average difficulty to hear a fetal heart over 20 weeks by stethoscope but takes training and practice to get it right and to determine if you actually hearing baby vs mother and it's easy to mistake the beat of the mothers circulation in her aorta, in the placental and uterine arteries and think you are hearing baby. The pinard horn, which is an older tool takes lots of skill but does provide better sound but do not buy one unless you have someone that can train you in how to use it, what to listen for and have a bunch of moms to practice on. It often seems to moms, when their doctor seems to have little [problem checking on baby with a stethoscope that it might be easy for her to do but remember that the doctor has the experience of doing this all the time and plenty of practice and while they may think it's just a stethoscope with a fancy holder that loops over the doctors head to hold it to the abdomen, they may actually be using what is called a fetoscope, a cross between the older Pinard Horn (in how the bell is made) and a stethoscope mounted on a stabilization device. A fetoscope is not something a mother could empty on her own but would need to have another person use to monitor the baby. For the most part, a professional with any of these items won't hear a heartbeat before week 12 and will need to employ electronic devices for anything earlier. For the layperson, mom to be, family members, etc, any of these devices used before 20 weeks or so of pregnancy will be frustrating and fail more than give you what you're looking for. Given the low cost of fetal dopplers for home use nowadays if there is need at home to monitor a fetal heart rate at home or just so mom can check when she wishes, buying the doppler is the best idea and can cost even less than a high quality stethoscope which would be needed to constantly monitor a fetal heart rate with one. On Amazon alone, the price for a stethoscope that is reliable and good for consistently monitoring to a fetal heart averages about $50 which is the same as the average for a home version of the doppler. The doppler is also a bit more reliable and easier to tell what you are listening too, which, if fetal health is the question, you want to make sure you are consistently monitoring the right thing. It's not unheard of for a mother to think she has been monitoring her baby's heart on a daily basis only to find out that for several weeks she has been listening to her own aortic pulse with a stethoscope and not the baby's heart. Whatever instrument you choose to do with you should take it with you to your doctor/clinic visit and have them locate the baby's heartbeat with it, so that you know that it definitely will work and to show you how to use it as well as how to identify the baby's heart sounds from those of the mother's body. Its suggested that before even purchasing something to listen to a fetal heart rate you discuss it with your doctors especially if it's more curiosity than anything else.
